Having been a drummer for 15 years can really damage your hearing. I've always worn ear plugs, but when it's time to play to a click it just never seems to work right and you have to crank it so loud you end up with ringing after a long session. The Metrophones are a godsend. Protect your hearing AND be able to hear your click and scratch tracks. I've spent hours recording and never worry about burning my ears out. Super comfortable. The metronome is cool, but not accurate enough for my taste, so I just feed my Tama click to the phones and away I go, but in a pinch it's better than nothing. Become a better drum and play to a click at each rehearsal with these fantastic headphones and protect your ears with comfort.

These things are nice when new. They provide excellent isolation, they're very comfortable and they sound pretty darn good. The problem is, the ear cushions are filled with a liquid that over time and even with gentle use will leak out. Eventually they'll become completely flat and very uncomfortable to wear. IF you're lucky enough to contact their support people, they'll tell you that this is common and expected to happen every few months. With that said, I can't call this a product worth buying unless you're ok with the reocurring costs. Too bad...other than that, they're a great product.

Metronome drum headphones

By Drummer

from New Zealand

Pros

  • Comfortable
  • Durable
  • Replaceable Lead

Cons

  • Too Much Ambient Noise

Best Uses

  • Drums
  • Music

Comments about Metrophones Isolation Headphones with Metronome:

For use with drums. Got them mainly for the built in metronome.
Comfortable and having the replaceable audio cable means I could plug in a bluetooth receiver and tape that to the phones.
The sound isolation is not as good as the average set of construction ear muffs, but still ok

Pros

  • Compact

Cons

  • Poor Sound
  • Poor Value
  • Uncomfortable

Best Uses

  • Music

Comments about Metrophones Isolation Headphones with Metronome:

When these are now they are great, but within 6 months the cushioning on the ear pieces went flat. Apparently this is a common problem. Also, the click of the metronome eventually starts changing time rendering this function useless.

  • Primary Use:
  • Listening to iPod

Best headphones for drummers......period

By Steven Pizzarelli

from New Jersey

Comments about Metrophones Isolation Headphones with Metronome:

I love the steel construction, very solid, once on the outside world basically goes away. The water cushions are so comfortable you can wear these for hours and not feel any pressure or pain. I use them exclusively, even when I go into a studio, I bring them, would,t record without them. The built in click is a great feature however I prefer to plug into my drum machine for a click. I highly recommend these to any musician and anyone who want top of the line headphone for listening to music, can't beat them.

Great idea ....

By 11:11

Comments about Metrophones Isolation Headphones with Metronome:

however after prolonged use, these headphones are prone to failure. The screws/nuts holding the tempo adjustment knob as well as the volume adjustment knob comes loose easily causing unnecessary maintenance. Also, the gel pads are easy to puncture and will leak all over you.

Like a Tin Can Vice

Comments about Metrophones Isolation Headphones with Metronome:

Squeezes your head way too hard.Metronome slows down and speeds up.Sounds like everything is run through a gate and bass reduction filter.Tried to use them and returned them after a few days.

Good - A while back!

By deftdrummer

from CAlifornia

Comments about Metrophones Isolation Headphones with Metronome:

I bought these metrophones about a year ago. They work well enough for most moderately serious drummers. Pros: -Excellent noise isolation without blocking out all the highs only-Very easy to use click track no fumbling w/ buttons interfaces-Line in enables mp3 / ipod use with proper cableCons:-Clamp way too tight on your head. Extended use may hurt ears / ear canals-Too much sound dampening. I find myself putting the left earphone slightly off center from my ear to let the guitar amps come through clearer. -These things weigh way too much. I prefer my shure e2's

too pricey for what it is

By AudibleCatherine

from New York, NY

Comments about Metrophones Isolation Headphones with Metronome:

Bought these in 2002 and at first enjoyed the convenience of having a click in my head. Over time they broke off my hairs at the temple, made my jaw really tight, and got more and more uncomfortable. The pair I bought I cannot plug into my iPod without an adapter. The click feels off sometimes. The price is not right.

bad headphones

Comments about Metrophones Isolation Headphones with Metronome:

it is very pricy, but cheaply made. the wires are not secure and after a few months of use, the wires became so loose that it would split the incoming feed and require adjustment of the wire. the headphones are not comfortable because they put too much pressure on your head.
