- System Requirements
- Overall: A minimum of 1GB of RAM is required. However, 2GB is recommended.
- A free USB port for the iLok USB key. Note: If you have multiple products which use iLoks for authorization you can consolidate multiple authorizations onto a single iLok.
- A CD/DVD disk drive for installation.
- For Mac:
- G4 1GHz Power Mac or faster, with multiple processors/cores highly recommended; a G5 or Intel-based Mac is recommended
- OS 10.3.9 or higher. Version 10.4 or higher is recommended.
- Hard drive(s) with at least 18 GB free to hold the sound files, plug-in, and application. The drive(s) must be formatted as Mac OS Extended (also known as HFS+); journalling can be on or off.
- An audio sequencer software package that hosts MAS, AU, VST, or RTAS instrument plug-ins. As BPM has 34 outputs (stereo main outs + 16 stereo aux outputs), the host needs to support instruments with greater than 32 outputs.

All I can say is I own both the BPM and the MPC 5000. If you are on a budget, get the BPM if only for the sample library. But it is of course much more than that. They have release a new version which addresses most of the concerns of the earlier purchasers. It is software based but it locks down a groove pretty tight.

I just got this program 2 week ago after viewing the coverage on it from the NAMM. It works great with Akai MPD control surface. It is simple to use and it looks great.It comes with a 15 gig library and is expandable with various audio and midi formats. The sampling feature is off the chain and a snap to do. Go BPM because it allows you to focus on your creative flow without the headache of an extensive learning curve!

I am a professional music producer. I have several gold and platinum records. I have worked with huge artists on popular records. And I just wasted my money on BPM. It looks like an MPC and actually has a great library, but that's where the good ends. The program has many bugs, and I cannot get MOTU tech support to address them. I have been trying. The developers I've been in touch with believe the bugs are my problem, but as an experienced computer user I assure anyone reading this, that is not the case. The new beat slicer released in their 1.01 update is completely inadequate, not properly aligning with transients, many other issues. I don't like the user interface with FXpansion's Guru, but still, a much more solid program. Do yourself a favor, think twice.
