Comments about Musician's Gear Symmetrical Studio Microphone Shock Mount:

A slender mic can slip easily in the clothespin clamp. Lining the "jaws" with black electrical tape is a simple and invisible fix, albeit a temporary one. The manufacturer should incorporate rubber pads in the spring clamp as part of the design. Then I would rate it a ten.
Suprisingly well engineered. They do the job. The locking swivel is a nice touch.
Nicely finished in basic satin black. A satin nickle option would be nice.
Hard to beat at the price.

Comments about Musician's Gear Symmetrical Studio Microphone Shock Mount:

I like ths type of shock mount over the rubber . I like that they made it more universal for different shapes of mikes. The slipping issue should be addressed, but can be remedied at home. This only becomes a problem if you try to hang a hand held taper body mike upside down.
This will double duty for Pencil mic. or Hand held.
It appears to be well built. It needs some grippy tape in the clamp to keep the mike from slipping out.I think double back tape might do the trick.
This is a good deal . Realy 2 birds with 1 stone.

Comments about Musician's Gear Symmetrical Studio Microphone Shock Mount:

I ordered this shock mount as a replacement to use with a Shure SM81. The SM81 is slim and the smooth surface of the clamp does not grip well. However, I placed small rubber bumpers from Walmart on the inside of the clamp and it works fine. The mount is all metal and seems well made and durable.

Comments about Musician's Gear Symmetrical Studio Microphone Shock Mount:

I bought a Shure A55M Shock Mount for my SM86, but it didn't fit at all! To it's credit, it does fit Shure Mics with tapered shafts such as the SM58. The Musician's Gear Shock Mount fits the cylindrical shaft of the SM86 perfectly, but I think it would be a poor fit for a tapered shaft.
