OVERVIEW

White reissue of a studio favorite.

The MXL 990 Condenser Microphone has a silky, sweet high end while retaining tight, solid low and midrange reproduction. The 3/4 in. gold-sputtered diaphragm creates a professional sound suited for digital and analog recording. Attractive vintage body style with champagne finish. The 30 Hz-20 kHz frequency response is ideal for lead and background vocal, male or female. Includes a clip. Remember folks, this mic requires phantom power, so make sure your console or interface delivers it before ordering.

There are a bazillion studio vocal mics on the market that break the magical $100 barrier, a traditionally unheard of price point for a studio vocal mic. Once that price floor was demolished, however, the market became flooded with offerings in the $80 - $100 price range. MXL has emerged as a true leader in this market, and the MXL990 is MXL's flagship product in that category. If a well-built, good-sounding, versatile studio microphone for less than $100 sounds like a good fit for your current needs, you can't go wrong with the MXL990.

Comments about MXL 990 Blizzard Limited Edition Condenser Microphone:

I wanted the standard MXL990 but could not get the discount on it. The MF customer service rep suggested this MXL990 Blizzard so I bought it and I like it. If you compare this to the specs on the MXL990 they are exactly the same. The only difference I can see is that the Blizzard has a blue light inside the mic screen. I saw reviews from other people that didn't like the blue light but it makes no difference to me. I not really qualified to say whether this mic would be up to professional standards, but I've got to say that I'm impressed with it.

Cool little mic!

By Mike D

from Kansas City, MO

Comments about MXL 990 Blizzard Limited Edition Condenser Microphone:

Picked this mic up on sale, not a bad little mic for vocals for the price! I also dig the light up effect! It doesn't have much of a purpose other than to tell me if I accidentally forgot to turn on phantom power lol, but it looks cool and when laying down some vocal tracks it adds a nice little blue hue to the room. Doesn't come with a shockmount which I wish it did, but luckily I have a spare that fit.

For the price, you can't beat it. The mic sounds great for the money. The LEDs look cool and are a helpful indicator to see if the mic is connected properly. Great option for home recording.
