Good firm grip on the mic. Even upside down. Although I AM using it with an MXl 90(60mm) This will work for any large diameter mic. The champagne color is a nice touch
The connectors stay nice and tight. Nicely put together with quality components.
Considering some of the outrageous prices I've seen for shockmounts...this thing is a steal. This will meet or beat alot of $100 plus mounts.

About a year or two ago, I got two MXL 990s with this shock mount. I was setting up for a live recording the other day and I turned around to see my mic falling six feet towards the floor. Luckily my drummer was there to catch it but I didn't know why it had fallen. Turns out, the joint where the mount connects to the stand had a huge crack in it. Upon further inspection, there were more cracks all around that area. I have never applied excessive force with the mount, only enough to keep it on the stand, and I've always kept it protected when moving it. Also, the little rubber bands that protect from shock and hold the mic in position constantly come out of their arm holders so you have to bend the little arms to a place where the rubber band can't slip out.I love the 990s, especially for the price, but I'm not going to spend more than half the price of a whole new 990 w/shock mount to replace a mount that should not have broken. Disappointing.

Although I was extremely careful with this mount, the threaded joint that attaches to the mic stand split, then ultimately broke, under normal use. It looks as if it's made out of plastic. Why couldn't this be made of a more durable material? This mount will not stand up to even the most normal use.

I've used this shock for over a year now and never had a single problem. I use it on an almost daily basis and travel with it a lot as well. It works wonderfully. As far as the reviews saying it breaks at joints, and it cracks etc, I must say that I've not had this problem once. I can agree with comments about the quality of the material used to manufacture this product. The material has a certain "cheap" feel to it. But that is only how it feels; not how it performs.

I got this when I got a Heil Sound PL-2T and broke the shockmount within the first week with normal use.The mount is a good idea but the materials used and the way they were constructed/arranged is very poor.We need to find a better mount that will work with this mic...

I've only had mine for 2 days, but I don't see why there are any bad reviews. I got mine for my MXL 990 USB mic and I have no complaints at all. Sure, there are better ones, but hell it's 30 bucks! Mine is sturdy and solid and looks like it was worth the money. Maybe I just got lucky, but I like it.

This is a nice mic. I own 2 and have never had an issue with the shock mount. Like speaker stands, you don't have to apply hulk like muscle to the screw...I've used them for brass, bas guitar, podcast vocals....not the best sounding but easy to fix in the mix.
