Comments about Sennheiser e 602 II Cardioid Instrument Microphone:
I've been using this mic for about 2 months now, and I have to say its a huge step up from what I was using for a kick mic. Although I usually replace my kick drum with a sample, this mic has really brought out a lot of the attack and the punch on my kick drum that I usually keep some of the original sound blended with a sample. It also works pretty well on Bass Cabs, and I've gotten good results with it as a reso head on my toms, and my snare drum as well. I would seriously recommend this if you couldn't by a AKG D112.
Comments about Sennheiser e 602 II Cardioid Instrument Microphone:
Okay I know a lot of people use these on kicks, which is fine. But I personally opt for a lot nicer mics on kicks. I usually use a Beta 91 inside and a decent condenser on the outside. But what these mics are great for are bottoms. I use these to bottom mic the toms and snare. EXCELLENT sound. I basically see these as cheaper alternatives to MD421s. I can't drop 2 grand on MD421s, but these were a good investment. You'll be amazed if you use these as I have. 57s on top for attack, these on bottom for resonate. Btw, this is strictly studio use, I've never used these for live sound, as I dont do too much of that.
Comments about Sennheiser e 602 II Cardioid Instrument Microphone:
I run the sound for a Bluegrass/Country band and also play the upright bass. If you play with your finger tips this mic reproduces the sound like a profesional studio would. if you play with the side of you finger the bass frequencies really come out and it you will have to adjust you EQ to knock it down or youlll just get a very very boomy and muddy sound. Overall once you mess with it some and figure out how to use it best this mic is a great addition to any sound system trying to pick up bass frequencies.
Comments about Sennheiser e 602 II Cardioid Instrument Microphone:
This mic is a great mic for kick drums and bass cabs. I use it alone or in addition to a Shure beta 91. But most time I don't need the shure as the mic covers all the frequencies I need, good low end and good attack for that snap. The only problem is the mic holder that has to be screwed on a mic stand. Mine is already stripped out, so I am going to get a metal clip specially built for it. Sennheiser should move to a metal mic clip by now. It is its only weak point. Sonic and ruggedness is there. I have taken this mic on several tours and it never lets me down. Get it!!
Comments about Sennheiser e 602 II Cardioid Instrument Microphone:
I am the head sound tech at a large church in my home town and we recently upgraded all of our drum mics. We were originally going to go with a Shure Kick mic but decided to go with this on instead. I couldn't have made a better choice. This mic is great. This mic has the lowest tones I've heard out of any mic. I've recorded with the AKG D112 and the e602 blows it out of the water. This is a great deal on an awesome mic. I recommend it highly.
