OVERVIEW

A gotta-have for your mic bag.

Use the Shure Model A2WS Windscreen to attenuate unwanted breath and wind noise in close-talk and outdoor applications. It prevents annoying pops and ticks when a speaker or performer talks or sings closely into the microphone and shields the microphone from rushing and whistling sounds in adverse wind conditions.

Effective and rugged, the A2WS fastens securely to both hand-held and standmounted SM57 and 545 Series microphones. Black.

A2WS Windscreen

By Michael Capo

from Pittsburgh PA

Comments about Shure A2WS Windscreen:

I use this windscreen on my Shure SM57s for studio and live use. The A2WS does an excellent job of screening out wind and acts as a pop guard in the studio. It locks into place with a set screw and doesn't move around once that screw is snug. It is a little pricey, but the quality is there.

      Comments about Shure A2WS Windscreen:

I'm not sure why it is so difficult to find the same kind of simple windscreen that originally comes with the Shure SM 57. I bought this because I couldn't find one that is like the original. It functions fine and seems to be of good quality, although, the center ring was split in half, but, because I wasn't familiar with the windscreen, I didn't know if that was how it was designed. In stead of just foam, it has a plastic ring that has to have a screw to tighten it onto the mic, which adds some weight to the mic, as well.

Using these mostly in the home studio and for a small worship service. Work great at eliminating popping and sibilants as well as controlling proximity effect. SM57 is a great all-purpose mike.

Tiny screw is hard to see. Was rolling around in the box when it arrived. Might be better to thread it into the filter, and tape the head, so it wouldn't come out of the filter, while in transit.

                      Comments about Shure A2WS Windscreen:

Professional look and sound that gets rid of unnecessary sibilance. The Shure SM57 is comparative to the Shure SM58 when applied with the A2WS Filter. The SM57 is now even better due to the slight elimination of full proximity.

When tightening the A2WS Filter on to the microphone, you should space the filter from about an inch above the microphone disassembly line. The filter should not fit directly on the stock SM57 filter mesh; there should be a pocket in between the stock mesh and the top of the foam filter.
