I am very impressed with these mic clips. They are solid metal, robust, and discreet. The knobs are easy to turn and are knurled which makes them easy to tighten/loosen. The small knob has a internal washer to keep it from falling out when loosened. I suggest putting a couple drops of oil on the threads to make them easier to use; it makes a big difference. These mounts hold very, very securely with absolutely zero movement/play. The area that contacts the bottom of the drum hoop will only touch the hoop, not the drumhead collar (unlike many other drum hoop clips). So no matter how much pressure you use to tighten the clip onto the hoop, it won't t choke the drum or change the tuning (at least on my Tama die-cast and triple-flanged hoops). In addition to being able to mount to drum hoops, the bottom part of the clamp can be inverted to mount to a cymbal stand (or any other round pipe). It's very secure even on non-knurled pipes. This is a very durable, well made, attractive, and functional mic clip - the best one I know of.

First off, let me start by saying I am a big fan of Shure microphones. ALL of my drum mics are Shure. Beta 52, Beta 56, SM57, etc. It felt natural for me to invest in these clamps. By far, these are the worst investment I've ever made. Here are the problems:1) The fastening screws constantly loosen. At least once per gig,I have an L post pop out of the clamp2) The rim clamp also loosens frequently. Recently, the rim clamp loosened during a performance. The entire clamp system popped off the rim, with the Beta 56 mic now hanging from the drum rim. In the meantime, the clamp was gouging a nice little canyon into the side of my 12" hand lacquered tom finish.3) The hexagonal L post doesn't give me flexibility of mic placementTHIS CLAMP SYSTEM NEEEDS A REWORK

Great Mount

By Kiros

Comments about Shure A56D Microphone Drum Mount:

I?ve used these live and in the studio. I did notice that they do make the mic buzz a little when mounted on to the drum rim. To solve this I started using the onstage shock mount clips and it solved the problem no more buzz. The buzz is not really noticeable when playing live but if you plan on using these in the studio get the shock mount clips they work. I have never had a problem with them loosening. I have even used these to mount a mic on a guitar cab. They are very high quality they definitely don?t feel cheap.

Good for live use only

Comments about Shure A56D Microphone Drum Mount:

I bought a set of these for use in my studio, and 8 out of 10 times, you can hear the vibrations from the drum transfer into the mic, resulting in a slight "buzzing" sound. Which im sure would not be heard in a live situation, but not good for studio use. I would suggest a re-design, with some sort of vibration damping. Maybe rubber coat where it clamps to the drum?

Comments about Shure A56D Microphone Drum Mount:

Over my 30 some odd years of drumming and preforming I have yet too see such a well machined and quality "Drum Microphone Clamp" And the Engineering Design is awesome. It stays where you want it and that's anywhere you want it. Also well priced. Get yours soon, they are made to last many lifetimes, and they won't always be at this price.

Comments about Shure A56D Microphone Drum Mount:

I bought a bunch of these for micing drum sets. They are great sturdy mounts that will adapt to any mic you want to use. They have enough flexibility of shape so that you can put the mic where you need it (out of the drumstick's way, but close enough to the head). I considered a few of the drum mic kits, but in the end I decided to go with these sturdy mounts and use the mics I have (mostly SM57's).

Comments about Shure A56D Microphone Drum Mount:

although a little reluctant to purchase these holders because of price at first, I went ahead and bit the bullet, what with Musician Friends return policy I thought if I weren't satisfied I could return them. The arrived and the quality immediately told me why they were a little pricey. They are a quality piece and very versatile that is the jaw of the vise may be reversed to grasp a bass drum hoop as well as a snare or tom. These babies are built well enough to last a while, even with a frequently gigging musician.

I was supprised with how well built these things are. You can't tell by the picture but the entire product is made out of a solid metal and the L rod is much more thicker then I had pressumed.
