Comments about Shure MX418SE/C Microflex Gooseneck Condenser Mic:

Took a few minutes to realign the mic cable so it passed straight through. I was initially concerned about feedback since it sits about 6ft from a speaker, but once I set the gain-before-feedback on the mixer input, it worked like a champ.

Comments about Shure MX418SE/C Microflex Gooseneck Condenser Mic:

As the sound and media tech at my church, I needed to replace the podium mic we had. It was an older Audio Technica model, which had a few issues.
We use Shure almost exclusively because they are durable and always sound great. So when I was on the hunt for a new one, the Mx series was the natural choice. I'm very pleased with it. The difference in sound quality was almost unbelievable. The mx sounds great for spoken word AND singing vocals.
The only "issue" I had was that the base for our old podium mic had a bigger base. I ended up routing the existing hole and fastening the included shockmount into the existing trim. This really isn't the mic's fault, rather the previous installation. Still, it was worth the extra trouble to me to use the better quality mic and to go the extra mile to install it the right way.

Although it is a stationary Mic. I was surprised as to how good it is for picking up the voices near it at about 3 feet away. I wanted it for use in church services. The slim profile makes it less of a distraction.

          great mic

          By Adam Brenneman

          from Undisclosed

Comments about Shure MX418SE/C Microflex Gooseneck Condenser Mic:

Installation was painless. I made a few quick EQ tweaks and my pastor was up and rolling with the new mic. Generally only the pastor uses the pulpit mic but the first Sunday with it we had a boomy voiced gentlemen share some thoughts as well as a young lady with a very small voice. The volunteer sound man was very impressed that he didn't have to make major adjustments from speaker to speaker. Also, I had planned to install the included shockmount but in our heavy oak pulpit the normal three hole base was great and transferred very little noise and no boominess.
The included preamp and various mounting hardware made installation very easy.
Everything included was of the quality you should expect from Shure

Comments about Shure MX418SE/C Microflex Gooseneck Condenser Mic:

I really like the tone quality and low noise or feed back. The low end of frequencies pop when transducer has too much pressure applied from alphabet P. Like papa, paper or people. Forced air is a factor when transducer is close to your mouth, but that's not a negative. I like the mike. No feedback even when mounted to a wood surface. That really a plus. Great for recording the spoken word.
Nice profile to back ground. Black color is super. Is almost transparent.
Strong signal. Very little EQ needed for great clarity and frequency control
Can't beat the price for the quality
