These are clearly designed to appear similar to Sony's 7506 model. To compare them to that, would clearly be unfair. These are entirely plastic, have a straight cable an do not sound as good.

BUT....

They do have a nice screw on style adapter, they do sound good with a slight scooped sound. The low mids are a little boomy and the high mids are a bit scarce. The highs are fairly clean and seem pleasing. They seem to pass volume at an acceptable level. I wouldn't mix on these but they aren't bad.

My overall impression of these phones is that while on sale, they are an exceptional value. It's not going to kill you if a guitarist leaves them on the ground and steps on them when they cost about the same as a drum head or two.

I am using 4 pair in my studio for musicians to track with and for that, they work very well. Good isolation, acceptable sound quality and fairly disposable. Also, it's good to note that while I prefer coiled cables, the straight cable on these seems fairly rugged and quite long. The molded jacks may short out eventually but replacing them with a more quality connector when they do would be an easy mod.

Bought a pair of these with a package deal, and at first I thought they sounded pretty good. Didn't last long though.

First, the bass on one of them started to distort badly in the left channel. Then, both of them started having crackling sound problems. Jiggling the cord sometimes solved it, which tells me there's a bad connection in the cord itself, or a bad solder connection at the jack or earphone.

Shortly after that, one pair quit completely, and the other seems to have a bad connection somewhere in it as well.

All in all, I got barely 4 months of light usage out of them before retiring them to the garbage can. They were being used in my home studio, and handled with the utmost care.

A bit surprising, since I own other Tascam equipment which has been very reliable. But, if you can't find better headphones than these for the asking price, you'd better hang it up.

You "should" get what you pay for, which in this case was far too much. I'd avoid these if I were you.

Comments about TASCAM TH-200X Studio Headphones:

Ordered this from Stupid deals. Back ordered for about 2 months. Got an Email from MF saying I could order a different one but this was worth the wait. It did the job but just Ok and after about a week I threw out the box. With 12 guitars including an upright bass and a steel guitar on legs, with all the cases,7 amps and music stands, who has room to save boxes? After one week and 1 days use it stopped working. No box to send it back. Trash !!!! First bad buy i've made from MF.

Comments about TASCAM TH-200X Studio Headphones:

I bought two of these. One has performed well, but after about ten months of VERY intermittent use, the other started 'buzzing' when low bass notes were played. Unfortunately, I did not call Tascam in time - the headphones were 25 days over the standard warranty period when I called. The TASCAM service lady just said "good luck". The parts department does not sell one replacement driver - "just get another pair" was their suggestion. Grrrr.

Do not buy these if you want good sounding headphones. I found that they have a tinny kind of sound. Also, not very full sounding and uncomfortable.

These headphones are really good for what I use them for. I record in my home and on the run and these headphones have been just fine. I don't listen to music often with these, but when I do , again, they are more than ample.
