These are clearly designed to appear similar to Sony's 7506 model. To compare them to that, would clearly be unfair. These are entirely plastic, have a straight cable an do not sound as good.

BUT....

They do have a nice screw on style adapter, they do sound good with a slight scooped sound. The low mids are a little boomy and the high mids are a bit scarce. The highs are fairly clean and seem pleasing. They seem to pass volume at an acceptable level. I wouldn't mix on these but they aren't bad.

My overall impression of these phones is that while on sale, they are an exceptional value. It's not going to kill you if a guitarist leaves them on the ground and steps on them when they cost about the same as a drum head or two.

I am using 4 pair in my studio for musicians to track with and for that, they work very well. Good isolation, acceptable sound quality and fairly disposable. Also, it's good to note that while I prefer coiled cables, the straight cable on these seems fairly rugged and quite long. The molded jacks may short out eventually but replacing them with a more quality connector when they do would be an easy mod.

Bought a pair of these with a package deal, and at first I thought they sounded pretty good. Didn't last long though.

First, the bass on one of them started to distort badly in the left channel. Then, both of them started having crackling sound problems. Jiggling the cord sometimes solved it, which tells me there's a bad connection in the cord itself, or a bad solder connection at the jack or earphone.

Shortly after that, one pair quit completely, and the other seems to have a bad connection somewhere in it as well.

All in all, I got barely 4 months of light usage out of them before retiring them to the garbage can. They were being used in my home studio, and handled with the utmost care.

A bit surprising, since I own other Tascam equipment which has been very reliable. But, if you can't find better headphones than these for the asking price, you'd better hang it up.

You "should" get what you pay for, which in this case was far too much. I'd avoid these if I were you.

Nice but I would upgrade to something of better quality next

    Comments about TH-200X Studio Headphones:

good looking and relatively well-made, these headphones will provide good quality sound for music listening while maintaining good noise isolation. These are not fit for professional studio mixing. At low volume, the entire frequency spectrum will come through rather clear with relatively little distortion. However, turn it up and the high become harsh, the lows boom and the midrange frequencies are flat.
Built well, lightweight and comfortable to wear for the average sized head. Comes with a a straight 10' cord (not coily) and a nice screw-on 1/4" adapter plug. Overall, this is a good listening set for the sale price but definitely not something for serious, professional studio use.

    Comments about TH-200X Studio Headphones:

For the money, they sound great. Just what I needed. Bad thing is, the first time I removed the adapter from the plug, the 1/8" plug shorted out. Conducters twisted when I unscrewed the adapter.

Not a great big deal for me, I just replaced the 1/8' plug. I had one, sooo easier than sending it back.

Comments about Tascam TH-200X Studio Headphones:

The left side of the headphone was broken fresh out of the box. It distorts when the bass is loud. almost sounded like it couldn't handle the bass. The right cup of the heaphone works fine. Even without this defected problem, the over all sound is very harsh, way too much high freq. Can't imagine using this in studio on recording or mixing for hours. The quality of the headphone feel very cheap. The only good thing I can say about it is that the sound isolation is pretty nice. I called musiciansfriend and they helped me setup return, painless, thank you.
