These are clearly designed to appear similar to Sony's 7506 model. To compare them to that, would clearly be unfair. These are entirely plastic, have a straight cable an do not sound as good.

BUT....

They do have a nice screw on style adapter, they do sound good with a slight scooped sound. The low mids are a little boomy and the high mids are a bit scarce. The highs are fairly clean and seem pleasing. They seem to pass volume at an acceptable level. I wouldn't mix on these but they aren't bad.

My overall impression of these phones is that while on sale, they are an exceptional value. It's not going to kill you if a guitarist leaves them on the ground and steps on them when they cost about the same as a drum head or two.

I am using 4 pair in my studio for musicians to track with and for that, they work very well. Good isolation, acceptable sound quality and fairly disposable. Also, it's good to note that while I prefer coiled cables, the straight cable on these seems fairly rugged and quite long. The molded jacks may short out eventually but replacing them with a more quality connector when they do would be an easy mod.

Bought a pair of these with a package deal, and at first I thought they sounded pretty good. Didn't last long though.

First, the bass on one of them started to distort badly in the left channel. Then, both of them started having crackling sound problems. Jiggling the cord sometimes solved it, which tells me there's a bad connection in the cord itself, or a bad solder connection at the jack or earphone.

Shortly after that, one pair quit completely, and the other seems to have a bad connection somewhere in it as well.

All in all, I got barely 4 months of light usage out of them before retiring them to the garbage can. They were being used in my home studio, and handled with the utmost care.

A bit surprising, since I own other Tascam equipment which has been very reliable. But, if you can't find better headphones than these for the asking price, you'd better hang it up.

You "should" get what you pay for, which in this case was far too much. I'd avoid these if I were you.

Comments about TASCAM TH-200X Studio Headphones:

I'd been using a set of Sennheiser HD-202, that are a kind of industry standard in radio land, but fall far short of these for recording purposes. The deficiencies in my mixes were embarrassingly apparent when I listened with the Tascams, but that's what you get for mixing with headphones! But if you just HAVE to, these would be a great choice.

Comments about TASCAM TH-200X Studio Headphones:

These headphones sound great and are comfortable to wear for long periods of time. I often use them to rehearse bass using a Vox headphone amp for hours at a stretch. I also use these at my desk at work. The closed back design does a great job of sound isolation so I don't bother my coworkers when I'm rocking out.

When they go on sale you simply can't beat the value. You should buy them. I own 4 pairs of these and recommend them to my musician friends for home recording.

Wish I had heeded other reviews. Even at the "Stupid Deal" price these headphones were not worth it. The sound is muddy with very little high end.

Comments about TASCAM TH-200X Studio Headphones:

Got these as the stupid deal of the day, and honestly would have paid full price for them. I've been on a good headphone hunt for over a year now, but all the good ones seem to be super expensive. These have a very reasonable price even without the stupid deal. I don't hear a thing other than my music when I'm wearing them, the sound is really good, and they're very comfortable. My only con (which isn't a huge one) is that I wish they came with a case or bag to make travel better. I put them to the test this weekend when I went out of state and it makes me a little nervous just wrapping up the cord and having them sort of vulnerable. Other than that they're great.

Comments about TASCAM TH-200X Studio Headphones:

Relatively new to Home Recording but been playing for 15 years. Bought as stupid deal of the day which made it an incredible value. Couldn't be happier. Haven't tried many professional models but these are much improved over the Tascam TH-02's.

Oval ear cups fit nicely and are very comfortable. Can pick up more nuances than the lower model as the closed back isolates sound nicely and the speakers are a little higher quality. Cord is solid and well attached and the screw down 1/4" adapter works very well.

1st tried it on a Yamaha P-105 Stage piano, very clear & strong sound.
2nd tried on Behringer x32 personal monitor system (Stage).
Been using AKG 250 Studio – (As a Drummer)
Had to tweak the personal monitor for the TASCAM TH-200X but sounded good.

Haven't had them long enough to give a long term review.
I will use them for recording but stay with my AKG 250 Live on Stage.
