These are clearly designed to appear similar to Sony's 7506 model. To compare them to that, would clearly be unfair. These are entirely plastic, have a straight cable an do not sound as good.

BUT....

They do have a nice screw on style adapter, they do sound good with a slight scooped sound. The low mids are a little boomy and the high mids are a bit scarce. The highs are fairly clean and seem pleasing. They seem to pass volume at an acceptable level. I wouldn't mix on these but they aren't bad.

My overall impression of these phones is that while on sale, they are an exceptional value. It's not going to kill you if a guitarist leaves them on the ground and steps on them when they cost about the same as a drum head or two.

I am using 4 pair in my studio for musicians to track with and for that, they work very well. Good isolation, acceptable sound quality and fairly disposable. Also, it's good to note that while I prefer coiled cables, the straight cable on these seems fairly rugged and quite long. The molded jacks may short out eventually but replacing them with a more quality connector when they do would be an easy mod.

Bought a pair of these as SDOD (and a few pennies higher than current price!) on March 8, 2014. By April 24, one headphone set had completely lost the left channel. I had used it exactly twice!
Based on my experience of TASCAM [TH-02 headphones; US 144-MK11 digital interface; DR-05 handheld digital recorder; TM-ST1 stereo microphone) products seems to be hit-or-miss. Some items feel cheaply made, others don't.
These TH-200X headphones are among the cheaply made products. There's a thin, insulated but exposed wire that carries the signal from the input cable to each ear piece. Seems to invite physical failure from every-day use.

Didn't expect much of these, got far less than I expected. One of the two pairs quit working with no apparent reason after a week. VERY lightweight, and terribly colored sound. Just not useable even for amateur or occasional use.

These headphones sound terrible. Now I know why they were marked down so low. They sound like somebody took an old pair of walkman headphones and shoved them into a couple of soup cans. I must say, I was expecting at least acceptable sound from these, given their original price. I am quite disappointed. I would not recommend these to anyone.

These headphones perform well for the price. I use headphones for many hours a week and although I have had these for approximately 2 weeks, I have found them to be both comfortable and very clear. They were comparable to some of my more expensive units. The price was also terrific for 2 pairs.

Comments about Tascam TH-200X Studio Headphones (2-Pack):

These headphones have the most comfortable ear-pads I've worn in a while. The thread-on adapter to step up to 1/4" stereo input made me happy. Professional level gear has all 1/4". The smaller size is for consumer products, boomboxes, and cel-phones.
For other brands I had to buy the adapter, this one is included. Others merely push on. This is threaded and screw on. Will not slip.
I do recording daily and upload videos to YouTube.
I belong to a musician only website with a world wide audience. I use headphones to monitor my mixes, to double-check the stereo image. These are a top quality product. Perfect for any home studio. And great response across a wide audio spectrum from low bass frequencies to high. Your mixes will turn out well. Also very pleasant just for listening. It says I can compare with similar gear. I was using the AKG K-77 with "semi-open" back. These, the Tascam with closed back sound just as good but the ear pads are softer so less ear fatigue over time. And the AKG has the small 7mm plug standard. I had to buy the 1/4 adapter and it's just a push-on. Both have the wire on one side only. That's a pro touch also. I had some old Yamaha that had wires to both sides. That gets tangled. These are great. And there are 2 of them. One for a friend. Oh, almost forgot to mention the very long cord. What is it? 3 meter? Nearly 10 feet long.

Bought these for backup and extra headphones in my home studio. They sound better than my other three sets and I have started using them as my main tracking headphones. I don't think I would try to mix with them for a final mix, but I did test them and I was able to get a pretty true mix with them on.

Very light compared to the studio phones of the past. 32 ohm impedance and a combination plug comes in very handy. Including a bag of some sort would have been a nice touch, but that would have increased the price and these phones will spend most of their time hanging near the mixer board for instant access.

I got these on a SDOTD promotion. I figured 2 pairs for 50$ is a great deal and when i read the specs I thought they would sound good. I was dissapointed when I hooked them up in my studio. Does not seem to meet the 15Hz – 22kHz freuqency range listed in the specs. The high end seems to roll of at around 18kHz. I would recommend these for maybe air travel and ametuer recording. Not for critical listening.

I got scared after I hit the button because of all the negative commentary; especially one about 'no mid-range.' I don't agree with that at all. It's just the super bass is so super that you tend to miss what really has to be there. The top end is more prominent than the mid.

If I had to mix with headphones I'd choose these since the super bass is so super that it'd cause me to tone it down rather than what happened to me once, where I over-drove the bass and had to run for the volume control when I tested the CD in the living room.

The liners are not fine Corinthian leather but these are for short-term recording monitoring so that's not expected. OTOH the ear-pieces move forward and rearward to allow for uncovering one ear. I love it . . . for the price!

Sound quality is just OK, but got a stupid deal price and got a 2 pack. They are a good deal at that price

I'm not an expert, but I've really enjoyed these. I can't imagine a better value. I bought the 2-pack and gave one set to my Dad. He said his digital piano sounds like a different instrument. They are very comfortable and easy to use. Thanks!!
