OVERVIEW

Detailed sound quality, solid road-ready construction, and cutting edge design.

TASCAM's TH-300X provides the clear, uncolored sound that musicians demand in the studio, while providing plenty of power handling and isolation for tracking and live use. The closed-back design isolates the musician, preventing microphone bleed and feedback. The plush leatherette ear pads and adjustable headband make the TH-300X comfortable enough for hours of wear.

No matter how soft or loud you monitor, the TH-300X can handle plenty of power without distortion. The large-diameter drivers provide plenty of bass response, with treble that's accurate without being harsh for extended recording sessions. The included 1/8"-to-1/4" adapter makes them compatible with consumer or professional gear, and gold-plated connectors won't corrode and crackle after a few years of use.

Great for mixing, tracking or live sound. Order the TH-300X today!

These headphones look, feel, and sound like professional gear.

Came with a 1/4" adaptor to use for the studio or live. They're really comfortable, sound crystal clear with plenty of bass, and with well-produced music, the stereo imaging is just great.

Don't know about the 200 model, which looks to be on sale these days, but these 300's are worth every penny.

I picked these up as part of the Stupid Deal of The Day for pretty cheap. These are a decent pair of entry level budget headphones when on sale, but not recommended for professional use. I disagree with the other review about them having a "midrange boost". I've used Sennheiser Studio Headphones that have a huge midrange cut... these do not, so if you're used to that huge midrange cut these will sound a bit different. I personally think these headphones produce a more neutral sound from an EQ curve perspective, which I prefer for mixing music. The headphones feel comfortable during use. They do not block out external noise as well as more expensive headphones I've used, they do block out a moderate amount of noise but if you're trying to use these in a noisy environment (such as live band recording) these are not ideal. The cable has a 1/8" connection with a 1/4" adapter that screws on over the 1/8" connection. Overall these headphones are OK for what I paid for them, but I would not want to pay the listed retail on these.

Comments about Tascam TH-300X Studio Headphones:

I bought these from the SDOD, and I compared them to my sennheiser HD280's. They do not produce the highest octave of frequencies that the HD 280 can produce. It honestly sounds like they have a low pass filter on them at about 5-7k. Everything sounds incredibly dull compared to the 280's. I would not reccomend these to anyone.

Comments about Tascam TH-300X Studio Headphones:

I find them to be uncomfortable after wearing about 2 hours. I also am losing quite a bit of the high frequencies I was hoping to hear compared to other headsets I own.

They are solid in build but mixing on them is impossible.

Comments about Tascam TH-300X Studio Headphones:

Bought these phones on a Stupid Deal of the Day promotion. In all fairness, the phones are about average in construction, and fairly comfortable to wear. Noise cancellation is about average. But the real problem that exists is they are so heavy on bottom end that mixing with them is completely unreliable. Thought I might be able to use them for live tracking, but the same problem exists.

Finally, I tried them on my Roland synthesized drum kit for quiet practicing. The low end was so great that it overrides a large portion of the higher end frequencies.

Compared to my Sony and CAD phones, which was another Stupid Deal purchase, these phones are inferior for any serious recording, mixing, or listening. Stick with a set of phones that give you clearer representation of the frequency range and you'll be much happier, no matter what the cost.

I have bought a lot of gear from Musician's Friend but have to say that they should be ashamed of themselves for offering these at the ridiculous "regular" price. Even when they put them on sale at there are much better options out there. These are like toys, flimsy construction and terrible sound. I don't know who they are trying to fool but if they continue to market products in this manner their customers will wise up and look elsewhere. Do not be fooled...don't buy even at the sale price!

Comments about Tascam TH-300X Studio Headphones:

I bought these on sale during Stupid Deal of the Day recently. Stupid is exactly how I feel after buying these. Absolutely terrible sound! I use (Brand A) HD280 Pro phones in the studio, so I have a very good reference, I think. Compared to the (Brand A), these things are nothing more than toys. I put them on for about a minute before packing them back up and putting my 280's back on. To give you an idea of just how bad these are, I have set of extremely (read - 1/4 the price of these on sale) cheap (Brand X) phones that I bought for the kids to use while playing games and these are a little more comfortable than the (Bran X). That's about it!
The bottom line is, I am very disappointed. I thought I was getting a good deal, seeing as how the regular price was one fifty. I feel cheated.

Let me say that this is the first review I've ever done...I've read a lot of reviews about lots of equipment that helped me make good choices over the years and it's time I took a few minutes to give something back...I've bought lots of musical equipment over the years and bought a whole lot from Musicians Friend. I've never had a bad experience from Musicians Friend...Great company and Great people to deal with!...I'm a Country and Classic Rock and Roll singer and guitarist...Bought these Tascam TH-300x head phones as well as my Audio Technica ATH M-20 which were considerably less that the Tascams, but the Tascams are soooo worth the extra money!...I bought both pair for vocal practicing and home recording... thinking if there wasn't that much difference I'd just send the Tascams back...But, The Tascams are louder and a tad crisper and clearer...Really good low end response too...I'm keeping them both but trust me...spend a little more for these Tascam 300x's...especialy if you have some hearing loss,as i do...You'll Be Glad You Did!

Comments about Tascam TH-300X Studio Headphones:

The headphones are not listed with a cable length, it's like an old telephone cord that's coiled up around 4 ft. and it will stretch up to about 8 or 9 ft. I would recommend getting an extension cable to go with it if you plan on moving around very much. As for the sound quality it is remarkable, and I only wish these headphones were wireless. Next time I will choose wireless, but these serve very well for the price paid.

Bought these from the Stupid Deal Day, & am I happy I wasn't stupid not to jump on this deal. I just needed a pair for listening to music & plugging into the amps for guitar. They hold up perfect, WAY beyond my expectations from some pretty good cranked tube amps. Your ears would explode before these distorted. So comfortable, you can hardly feel them. My wife stood 2 ft from me as I had em cranked to the hilt & she couldn't hear them. Again, amazing headphones - at ANY price !

Bought some very crummy TH-02 headphones in the past due to lack of funds. I knew they were doing my equipment injustice but had no evidence. I finally took a chance and went for these and I have to say, they have unlocked the sound of my equipment. The Alesis DM8 Pro Kit can put out some pretty deep bass and I was not sure that these would cut it, but, they handle the lows, the highs, and all in between as far as I can tell. So far for me, these have been the best headphones Ive found for my purposes and budget, havent heard many other headphones so, cant really say if these are the best in the world. I can say theyre excellent for someone needing some headphones for an electric kit, or a small home recording studio.

I figured I'd take a chance on these because of the SDOTD price. At that price point these are okay 'phones. I would never rely on them for mixing since they are very heavy in the bass range almost to the point of muddy. I was on the verge of sending them back when I realized that I could take the pair of good Sony 'phones out of my video bag, put them back in the studio and use these to monitor camera and digital recorder audio when all I care about is knowing that the audio path is complete and I am actually collecting sound.

If you're looking for a set of phones you don't have to worry about if they break, are forgotten or stolen these would be a great addition to your kit.

Comments about Tascam TH-300X Studio Headphones:

The overall articulation feels compressed throughout the frequency range, but the highs in particular seem really affected. Listening to these after using my trust Sony 7506s was difficult. Listening to them after using my Bose AE2s was harder still. I bought them, however, specifically for band rehearsals in a live room because I knew the Tascams had excellent outside noise reduction AND because the high end was NOT as prominent. I didn't want to bombard my ears with highs during practices, and these were a really good fit for that purpose. So, in the end, they are decent headphones with limitations...definitely not audiophile quality, but effective when used with a dedicated purpose in mind.

bought them for a stupid deal of the day .... paid a ridiculously LOW price for a GREAT pair of professional studio quality phones. Yes that's right professional quality ( i work in a studio ). So even if you have to pay retail , I highly recommend these. The frequency parameters. are awesome. need phones , buy these ....

Comments about Tascam TH-300X Studio Headphones:

I had low expectations on these headphones, I am a fan of KOSS headphones first and foremost. But on a Stupid Deal Of The Day, - I took a chance on Tascam.

It seems they engineer these for children's heads. Even the earpieces are undersized, It's got to be a cost-reduction effort, so they can offer these at a competitive price. They are not comfortable, not compared to a plush set of KOSS Pro headphones anyway.

But the sound quality is quite good for the money. Plenty of bass, all around great sound quality. So all in all- a great value for a second or third pair of headphones to use around the house for the computer, anything where you don't want to use your expensive headphones where they could get damaged, etc.

If they fit properly- they would have got 5 stars. Most likely they make more expensive headphones, I'm going to look for them and give them a try if they do.
