OVERVIEW

Ample input capacity and hands-on control in a compact console.

The Yamaha TF series Digital mixing consoles represent years of continuous development. Yamaha is among the world's most experienced designers of digital consoles, but for the TF project, engineers started from scratch, rethinking the way people approach mixing sound, and careful not to get caught up in any conventions or presupposed best practices without a thorough reaxamination. The team that created this console have more than 70 years of aggregated experience mixing shows of all genres, so they have firsthand experience with the chief concerns musicians have with regard to mixing. The Yamaha TF3 is the Mama Bear of the three available versions of the TF mixer series, situated nicely in the middle in terms of feature set. It may be the perfect thing for your stage or studio.

Based around an intuitive multi-touch screen and a simple touch and turn knob getting around and making adjustments is simple and fast. Simple swipe, pinch and pull gestures and double touches invite the user to make adjustments, and the always available Touch and Turn control makes precise adjustments a breeze. The TF3 boasts the following primary features:

25 motor faders (24 channels + 1 master)
48 input mixing channels (40 mono + 2 stereo + 2 return)
20 AUX (8 mono + 6 stereo) + stereo + sub buses
24 analog XLR/TRS combo mic/line inputs + 2 analog RCA pin stereo line analog inputs
16 analog XLR outputs
34 x 34 digital record/playback channels via USB 2.0 + 2 x 2 via a USB storage device
1 expansion slot for NV64-D audio interface card

Comments about Yamaha TF3 24 Channel Digital Mixer:

I'm using this in my home studio and my recordings have never sound better. The room tuning capabilities are great. The faders are smooth though I wish the fader knobs were made of a some type of light metal.

The routing is straight forward and the effects are very nice. I really can't say to much negative about the desk. I've added a Faderport8 to control the DAW and that was the final touch. Excellent work Yamaha.

Comments about Yamaha TF3 24 Channel Digital Mixer:

I was a performer and Sound Engineer for a world class drumcorps this summer. Yamaha hooked our corps up with a brand new PA, including this TF3. I found the board to be very straight forward, very customizable, and very reliable. Grouping was simple to do, assigning additional outputs for subwoofer amps was easy, customer layering was a breeze. I do wish having EQ and other effects on groups were easier to do with this board, DCA's vs VCA's would be nice, but a simple aux buss routing trick worked fine. Also I felt the fader motors were alittle slow, and wish the screen could be made abit brighter than it's max setting. The preamps sounded good, and EQ and FX all sounded fine! I see no reason why their board wouldn't be good for studio work! It survived 2 months of daily use in 100+ degree heat outdoors for 16 hour days and never gave us an issue. I've used Yamaha boards like the 01v96i, LS9 (32), and M7CL and the TF series is just as good in quality!
