The MXR EVH Phase 90 Shifter is a limited-edition version of the legendary MXR Phase 90. The Phase 90 was instrumental in creating the guitar tones on the early Van Halen records; the swirling, spacey sound on such songs as "Eruption," "Atomic Punk," and "Ain't Talkin' 'Bout Love." The EVH 90 captures the warm, hypnotic tone of the vintage "script logo" Phase 90, and with the flip of a switch also delivers an intense, edgier phase tone. It features rock-solid internal construction and an indestructible enclosure to ensure years of flawless performance. Add to this the Van Halen-approved striped graphics from the guitar that changed the world and you have a truly unique piece of rock history.

Van Halen is your man, and this is your pedal. Order it today.

Good Phaser

The EVH Phase 90 is a good pedal. The Script switch is subtle at lower volumes, especially with other effects like delay and reverb. At louder volumes the Script switch is more apparent. The Script disengaged adds a bit of boost and clarity.

The EVH Phase 90 seems to like humbuckers more than low output single coils. Disengaging the Script switch sounds better with single coils than with the Script switch engaged.

Disappointing...

I had high hopes for this pedal. Unfortunately the phase is extremely digital and thin. The "script" button did nothing. I returned it and got an EH nano stone, which beats this by a long shot and is cheaper.

Yes, I am a big fan of Eddie, but when it comes to gear, I am not biased. Have tried lots of gear with the name of some of my favorite players on it, and there were quite a few disappointments. However, I have yet to hear and play a product with Eddies name on it that didnt work and sound great, whether its the Peavey- or new EVH-amps, the Wolfgang, pickups or these pedals. The Phase 90 sounds great, offering both modern and vintage phase-sounds which are always MUSICAL. Not "in your face" nutty weird sounds, but musical, useful sounds that can be used more than once (some effects are fun, but if you overuse them, they get boring). Just like Eddie did with his, you can switch this one on for solos without it jumping at you, its a very nice, musical effect that will make your lead sound stand out more. I love to turn the knob to 9 o clock, press the script-button and use it as a filter... I often switch it on for most solos, and you dont get tired of it... its there, shaping the sound nicely, but never too much. I dont use extreme settings on it, sticking to a setting between 8 and 12 o clock. It has become one of my favorite pedals, and is used a lot. Which is not a problem, as its built like a tank and very reliable. Great pedal, check it out, even if youre not into Eddie's sound and music!

Not for everyone

I ordered one of these some time ago, as my flanger/phaser was starting to show signs of self-destruction. I know EVH is an outstanding musician and wouldn't put his name on just anything, but this didn't do it for me. I run my time delay effects through the loop and apparently, this pedal needs to run out front. But, the pedal seemed to zap all the power and tone from my signal. Did I receive a dud? I don't know but I sent it back and ended up with another high end brand of pedal which has been on the spot since day 1. Sorry EVH and MXR but you don't get my vote for the EVH Phase 90. Great looks but lacks......something.

I am not big on endorsed equipment but I bought this phaser to try and achieve the old phaser sound that the 101 does not offer. The EVH phase 90 is no different from the vintage phase 90 accept the Vintage phase 90 achieves a more Van Halen slow speed. The script botton has no altering effect what so ever. I am going to return it for this reason.
