I've been playing flute a little over a year stuck w/ an old gemienhardt or used yamaha and anyone whose tried flute and considering of getting one should get the OPEN HOLE MODEL. I recieved it in the mail the other day and it's been great. It's comfortable in your hands and once you get the open hole flute playing down it creates a really great tone. This flute comes w/ removable/insertable plastic corks for the holes if you need time converting from a closed hole flute. The flute comes w/ a really nice case and a bag w/ a pouch that can hold the case and other accesseries. It also comes with two cleaning fabrics. Get this flute if you want to become a flutist.

The Quantz 505 plays like a dream! Though marketed as a student flute, it keeps up with most advanced flutes I've played. I primarily bought this to use the body with my Powell Aurumite headjoint but was rather surprised by the tonal quality from the Pearl headjoint. I would definitely recommend this flute and wish I had known about this model back when I was in grade/high school.

I have had this flute for almost a year. I bought it as I had outgrown my previous flute and am still undecided in what I want in a professional instrument. I am very happy with it. The tone is much improved over a more student level flute. I don't have any experience with how it handles being dropped and such, but I've noticed no scratching through normal use. I also have an alto by Pearl and have been very happy with it as well. I'm sold on the brand overall.
