    Developed in 1983 for jazz and popular music by Vandoren, these were the forst of the Java series of reed. They are often referred to as Java Green, expecially since the advent of the Java Red reeds. These are the originals, and are characterized by a thicker tip and a more flexible pallet. They allow vibration over a larger surface area with maximum elasticity. This type of vertebral column gives the musician much greater playing flexibility, as the elasticity zone is very large. Great for altissimo playing, as well as for anyone who seeks broad tonal color.

      Comments about Vandoren Java Alto Saxophone Reeds:

      I have used these reeds since they first appeared on the market. I love their flexibility and quality tone. I use them with a Brilhart level air metal mouthpiece as well as my trusty old Selmer C* and they perform well on both set ups. The quality is very consistent throughout an entire box. Buy them,especially if you are a jazzer or play in any sort of combo...the tone is EXCELLENT!

      Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
