OVERVIEW

A brawny kick pedal rich with new features and upgrades - including the delta 3 system with bearings at all moving points.

It has long been the standard kick pedal for the rock drummer and DW pushes the bar to new heights with this 5000 Series Single Pedal. Featuring a host of refinements and upgrades, the legendary 5000 line features a choice of drive systems, aluminum hex shafts, pedal plates and linkages, dual side adjusting hoop clamp, 101 two-way beaters, and built in spurs. This pedal can be customized to fit the needs of any player.

Additionally, the Accelerator (AD4) drive system offers an eccentric motion that creates an indirect relationship between the sprocket and the footboard, increasing the velocity of the pedal by shortening the length of the stroke. It is recommended for situations that require increased speed and sensitivity.
Supported by a footboard that is a dream for heel-down technique players, this pedal will accommodate the heaviest hitter or satisfy the progressive percussionist.

I love this pedal and for years waited to get one. It is incredibly fast, the only thing is it takes a lot of getting used to, it is VERY heavy which takes away from the speed in a sense. The weight is the biggest problem about it. Otherwise it is LOUD, definitely makes my bass drum sound better.

This pedal is easy to use, smooth, and responsive. I bought this because I wanted to support an American based Co.However, there is nothing about this pedal that makes it better than my old Iron Cobra. I've had the DW5000 less than 2 yrs. and the bearing in the rocker hub is already bad. I made no adjustments, I liked the feel right out of the box so I didn't change anything except the beater height. I have a Pearl(p-100)that I've had for 4 yrs., an Iron Cobra I've had 17 yrs. and all other pedals I've owned over the last 30 yrs. and never had a mechanical flaw,as I am not a heavy player. I'm a little disappointed in DW, especially for what they charge for their products. Also, the 5 yr. warranty doesn't cover moving parts(only cast parts like the footboard,etc.).

Review of new DW5000 Single Pedal

By Herb Warren

from Las Vegas, NV

Comments about DW 5000 Series Single Pedal:

I look forward to using this pedal and appreciate the manner in which it can be adjusted. The balance, angle to bass drum and tension adjustments make this a standout.

I am not disappointed in this new DW5000 single pedal.
This is a very good pedal. It is fast, rather easy to adjust and very solid.
I find it more responsive than my Pearl Eliminator but not much better, if at all, than the Iron Cobra.
The DW5000 is well made and has a very solid feeling.
The price for this pedal is fair and represents a good value.

Comments about DW 5000 Series Single Pedal:

First off: No pedal will make up for lack of practice. This pedal will not work miracles.

That being said, it is a very good pedal. The construction is solid and it has appropriate padding to protect your kick drum. Everything is adjustable to get the feel and attack you prefer.

The beater that comes stock with the pedal is very rugged and heavy. If you're used to playing on a lighter pedal this will take some getting used to. Some experts have described this as a "loose" pedal and I would agree. Many drummers prefer this quality.

I like that it comes with a drum key. It's nice to have an extra one around just in case.

This is an excellent pedal, very quiet with ball bearings in the heal plate. The pedal has an excellent build quality, plays fast and easy right out of the box and came with a well designed beater and carrying case. Highly recommended.

Comments about DW 5000 Series Single Pedal:

I'm the bass player but have a Pearl kit in my studio. Our main drummer actually prefers his beat up 25 yr old DW5000 that looks ready to break over the OEM Pearl P100, so I took the hint and got this new DW5000. Very easy to install and adjust multiple settings to suit any drummer preference. Bottom line, this pedal is just a solid piece that feels and sounds great.

Comments about DW 5000 Series Single Pedal:

This is hands down the best pedal I have ever used. I have been wanting to own a DW 5000 kick pedal for sometime but never took the plunge till now. I have used Tama Iron Cobra, Pearl Eliminator which in my opinion were good pedals. I have used some not so great pedals that I will not mention.
The feel and action of this pedal is the best I have used. I have been playing now for

Comments about DW 5000 Series Single Pedal:

I've used a DW 5000 pedal for close to 20 years now. I had the old school pedal, and ended up selling it because it got banged up too badly in my hardware case. I bought this one, and it's now one my drum kit at church. I borrowed a friend's nice Tama pedal for a kit at the house. Once you use something like the DW 5000, it's really difficult to go "backwards" in quality. I'm gladly returning the Tama pedal, and I hope to acquire another DW 5000 sooner than later for my home drum kit.

Comments about DW 5000 Series Single Pedal:

There is a reason that the DW 5000 is the industry standard. This pedal feels like a dream under my foot. The spring tension adjustment is easy to use and can range to pretty well all preferences. I like my spring to be fairly tense and it holds the tension like a tank. I've never had to adjust this thing more than once once I've gotten it to my liking. As far as single pedal drumming goes, you will not find a more solid, reliable pedal.
