Comments about DW 6000 Series Turbo Single Bass Drum Pedal:

I have played Iron Cobras and DW 5000 turbos.I hate the big base plates on these pedals. If your a club or any busy traveling drummer you know the surface of ALL these stages or floors are never level. The plates become a problem.I have als played Camco chain drives and this 6000 is the same style and feel with a heavier punch. The rails conform to any surface and they are never a problem. This is a great pedal. The best feeling.
A New look on a classic style.Simple yet high performance.
DW ...That's all you need to say!
You do not ned to spennd 300 dollars form top performance.

Comments about DW 6000 Series Turbo Single Bass Drum Pedal:

I've been using the DW 6000 series hardware because it's light and breaks down into small parts. This pedal helps do that too. Most good pedals have a "plate" on the bottom. To move the pedal for a gig, it needs it's own container, or you need a lot of space to accommodate the plate. Not this pedal. It breaks down almost 'flat' and goes right on top of my hardware, all in one compact bag. I love this pedal. The weighted beater really helps add depth and weight to the sound of my kick drum too. Love it~

Comments about DW 6000 Series Turbo Single Bass Drum Pedal:

I've been playing drums for 30 years and have had all kinds of pedals and several DW pedals over the years. I must say I am extremely disappointed with the quality of this pedal. I wanted it because I wanted something that would fold and fit into my canister throne, which this one does nicely. However, I don't really envision this pedal lasting very long considering all that has been an issue with it since I got it.

The beater is your typical DW beater, but honestly they kinda suck. They don't make a flat contact with the bass drum head, so this is the first thing I had to replace. I got an Iron Cobra beater with an adjustable head and that made a big improvement.

Many crucial adjustments on this pedal use hex wrench instead of a standard drum key, which is just stupid, especially since they keep coming loose. The hex screw on the underside of the sprocket mainly, I tightened it yesterday and on the 2nd turn it seems the hex stripped out. This is completely unacceptable. Thankfully it did so while it was tight, but the next time it goes loose I'm kinda screwed (pun intended). The foot board has considerable left to right play on the hinge, giving it an uneasy feel.

The pedal itself feels cheap, flimsy, and the action is pretty poor unless serious adjustments are made. The pedal I had before this one was a PDP, which was a far better one than this one. It just goes to show you don't always get what you pay for.

I'm still using it for the time being, but am sure I'll need to get something else in the near future.

Comments about DW 6000 Series Turbo Single Bass Drum Pedal:

I'm a long time bass player just starting to learn drums. I picked up the 6000 Turbo to compliment the 6000 Ultra Light Hardware and Hat Stands for a vintage style drum set. 85% of the pedal is very solid and well built. The sprocket and chain however felt very "wimpy". This pedal uses just a single chain that is very small, and in use, the toe end of the pedal board felt like it was wandering side to side. While this never caused the chain to come off the sprocket - it felt like it wanted to. The sprocket is also very thin and did not feel substantial. I also found that the sprocket kept hitting the top of my boots which I found annoying. The Turbo pedal also just didn't sound right compared to my old no name kick pedal. I tried different beaters, and my guess is that it hits with much more force which may work for metal or super loud rock giving you a tighter and more defined sound - but loses "feel", depth, and warmth. I ended up returning the Turbo Cam pedal and exchanged it for the Nylon Strap version which I find to be much more stable, does not wander side to side, the cam does not hit my foot, and has a great feel and sound. I'm very happy with the Nylon Strap version so far.

Comments about DW 6000 Series Turbo Single Bass Drum Pedal:

I was looking for a good pedal without a base so I could fold it up to fit my trap case (canister throne). This pedal fit the bill. I have always liked DW pedals so I thought I'd give the 6000 a shot. There's a couple features not present on this one that I wish it had, such as a side tightening mechanism so you don't have to reach under the foot board to tighten it to the kick. Also there's no drum key mount that is present in almost all other DW pedals. True they are usually on the base plate, so without a plate maybe they just didn't know where to put it.

Just out of the box I put it on my kick and actually hated it. After making many adjustments over the course of an hour or so of playing, I finally got it set the way I like it, and now it does feel pretty great.

Right out of the box it was way too springy and the beater felt ridiculously heavy. Also, a kinda annoying feature of the memory lock on the beater is that it uses a tiny little alan key instead of a standard drum key. It does come with the alan key, but I didn't think to bring it with me to the studio since I figured it would only be needed for mechanical adjustments, not feel settings.

Overall it seems like a good pedal so far, just expect to have to make many adjustments to get it to feel right out of the box.
