The remo coated empror are not bad but not they just don't sound like a snare should sound for me, that drumhead doesn't allow your to have a nice pop. If you prefer poping in your play you should get a coated ambassador wich are really better head, beacause it has the pop and the fat sound that you need on a snare. But anyway you should do your own experience before to judge.

Comments about Remo Vintage Emperor Coated Drumhead:

Great heads, very versatile. Any kit that I play on will always have these on them. Live they give the warm rounded tone and project. In the studio you can gaff them up, and if you want to take off the tape, no coating comes off like Evans Coated heads. Very happy, been using these for over 4 years. Best decision I made for tom heads.

Comments about Remo Vintage Emperor Coated Drumhead:

I put these on a couple of 70's vintage Gretsch toms (12" and 16"). They replaced some Evans G Plus heads which sounded decent (especially recorded) but sort of had a plasticky, filmy quality that I was tired of. The Vintage Emperors definitely focus the sound compared to the G Plus. Less ringy, good punch, really nice tone in a practice setting, and the texture is more to my liking. I haven't recorded with them yet, so will need to evaluate that. I have standard emperors on a birch kit, and the standard emperors sound more open and resonant than the Vintage emperors (and that's on a birch kit which tends to be more focused than other woods). So in my estimation, the Vintage E's are more focused, warmer and slightly less resonant than the standard emperors. But they are not a "dead" head. They do resonate, but not forever. They're also good as snare batters, especially if you're looking to tame a ringy snare. Bottom line is they sound great if that's the sound you're looking for.

Comments about Remo Vintage Emperor Coated Drumhead:

This is only one, of many' I've used for about 6 years now. It always keeps a tight tune and last for sevearal gigs before coating comes off, in your sweet spot. And when it does, its white under it, instead of clear, like the coated standard remo emperor. So cosmetics look better longer between replacement. Its like a comfort snare head for me. i know what i can get out of it.

Been playing for 49 years and still at it. I've used all kinds of heads in that time and tried numerous tricks to achieve the tone I was looking for. These vintage coated emperors are what I've been looking for all this time. Right now I'm using a Pacific CX set with stock resonant heads on my toms. These heads sing! Nice fat tone with excellent overtones and no annoying and bad sounding ring...with no additional damping whatsoever. IMO these heads are great!

Comments about Remo Vintage Emperor Coated Drumhead:

First i would like to say this, all drummers have their own style, the sound they are looking for! My opinion is no better than anyone elses, but , for what I play, and my drums, these heads suck big time!, now , i play DW's, and my snare has PRO BLASTER WIRES, AND WOODEN RIMS, and with those, these heads are absolutely terrible!, a lot of ring, not crisp like most drummers want. may i just say, your Batter head is no better than your resonant head, the drum make, and what you use on your snare!,,,PLEASE, PLEASE don't buy this head just because it has good reviews, evaluate what you are putting it on! Because what i hear, and play, may by totally different from what you hear, or want out of your drums!,,,MF has a lot of experienced drummers working there in the drums,,call on these guys, tell them what you have, and what you're looking for in way of sound!,,,don't just look at the heads, and buy a head just because it has good reviews. AS FOR ME, Remo sound blasters, with Evans EC resonants, give me the puurrrfect i want!

I use these on my Tama Imperial Star toms and get an awesome fat tone that I'm looking for. They are extremely versatile. When I tune them higher I don't get a lot of unwanted ring and tuning them lower gives them a nice boom. Every drummer wants that specific sound for their style of playing. These heads are great quality, easy to tune, and a great price. I play classic and alternative rock and these heads are perfect for me.

Comments about Remo Vintage Emperor Coated Drumhead:

I'm a drummer, and a good one at that. I'm not conceited, but I know what I'm doing. For years I removed the resonant heads, and pinstripes on the batter with tape, paper towel, and God knows what else to achieve the sound I wanted, I then hatched an idea, why not simplify this? So here's the trick, pinstripes on the resonant side, these beautiful emperors (dear sweet God, get coated, more versatile, more responsive, etc.) on the batter side, and for that final touch, internal drum mufflers (more versatile and adjustable than other forms of muffling). Now, for the tuning, for the pinstripes, high. As high as they can go, and the emperors, lower to the point that both heads sound like two different drums. The pinstripes kill all of the unwanted ring, and the vintage emperors allow the drum to maintain full projection, add the muffler (I used pearl internal mufflers, easy to install, good quality) and you're in complete control of your sound. I use a Ludwig kit put together from all my favourite aspects of the individual kit lines (The Brick *with the vintage Ludwig strainer and muffler*, the Ludwig Challenger 26" bass, Centennial 14" rack mount and 18" floor tom, Accent CS Custom 22" bass 10" and 12" rack mount and 18" floor tom, and two 8" toms of varying depths, I believe them to be Tama) I gig and am a session musician, and constantly get complimented on my kits sound. Buy these heads.

I have a 1976 supraphonic, 6.5x14. This head is perfect for that drum. It pops and has wonderful body and bite, couldn't ask for more. Plus, it's durable and my supra sounds just like the Bonham snare sound. I love it. It's a bit better than a standard coated emp in that it has white mylar film which looks better when the coating starts to wear. Great head, I highly recommend.

I have exclusively used Aquarians for some time now, and a few days ago i went to replace the stock heads on my new Gretsch. I ended up buying some Remo heads to try to switch it up. They sounded soooo much better. I got two Vintage Emperor's and boy do they make those toms sounds great. I can now say i have officially broken up with Aquarian.

use this with the emperor snare side head on any snare drum and it will sound perfect for any rock set up where you want a perfect crack with very little sustain...too perfect...i'll never use anything different...i've tried alot but so far this is the best and longest lasting snare head

Comments about Remo Vintage Emperor Coated Drumhead:

Just bought these for my Gretsch Catalina Maple and they sound amazing! I've used Powerstroke 3 coated heads, clear Emperor, and Pinstripe Heads on my kit and have finally found the perfect head. The Vintage Emperor fill the room with deep, warm tones with a lot of resonance which is what I was looking for. So if you're looking for a drum head that is warm, resonant, projective, and easy to tune then buy these Remo Vintage Emperor Drum Heads and you won't be disappointed.

I LOVE these Vintage heads. Slightly warmer than regular Emperors. I play mostly Latin rhythms and like the warm, open tone that is pleasing to listen to. That's what it's all about, isn't it?
If you're looking to change your drum heads, you might want to try the Vintage Emperors, I am quite happy with them and would certainly recommend them.
