Skip the round ones we have all sat on before with some classic logo or insignia.  I just got this from Musicianfriend today.  Open the box top, take it out and sit!  No assembly at all.  Very comfortable and very sturdy and no creaking sound!  Swivel is snug so it will not rotate by just you getting up to make an adjustment etc, Nice.  I am a 6' tall bass player and I would recommend the shorter of the two offered.

Features:

It;s simple and what you see is what you get.

Quality:

Good quality metals, fasteners are top quality.  The seat cover surprised me.  It's high quality and well made.  Comfortable shape and padding.

Value:

Very good price compared to other performance seats selling for considerablly more.

Overall:

The quality and workmanship are good.  I have no complaints and have used this seat for several performances playing double bass.   The height is just right for playing seated - both pizzicato and arco.  Stable during performaces.  Additionally, the "tractor" shape of the seat offers more room to adjust the position of the instrument compared to a squared seat.

The seat is so comfortable, you can gig for hours, and because it rotates, you don't have to move much to get extra music, are gear.  I should have done my tusch a favor and gotten this one a long time ago.  The short one is just right for those long practice sesssions too!

Important gear for serious student

Features:

Rotating, sculpted padded seat, 2 foot rings choice of short or tall model (short is good for me at 5'11")

Quality:

Very sturdy, high quality materials.

Value:

I think this will last longer than the "bar type" stools with music company logos you see at lots of guitar stores.  Its also more comfortable since the padding doesn't crush so you can feel the frame like on the guitar logo stools.

Overall:

At 51 I've finally decided to get serious about learning to play guitar.  That means lots of hours of practice.  I'd been using a folding chair for my practice sessions but the position was wrong making it difficult to keep the guitar in position.  Then I switched to a kitchen stool which put me in a better position, but the thinly padded seat quickly became uncomfortable.

Then I saw this product and decided to bite the bullet and put some money into a proper guitar stool. This thing is great for long practices.  With 2 foot rings you can find a comfortable position that will allow you to lock the guitar in a steady position  The shaped padded seat is great and I never have to end a session because my tail hurts any more. I can do a 2 hour session and remain comfortable.  I am 6' tall and the short model is close to perfect for me.  If anything, its an inch or so too tall.  Unless you are REALLY tall the short model is probably your best bet but you could always cut the legs down if needed.

All in all, a guitar stool is not something a lot of guitarists think about but face it if you are going to learn to play you're gonna be spending a lot of time on one so its worth the investment to get a good one and this is the best by far.
