OVERVIEW

The fabled roar of a British Class A tube power amp in a premium-crafted amp.

The Laney Lionheart L5T-112 amp provides the evocative, classic tones of hot tubes pushed hard, but at a volume level your neighbors can live with! Featuring the purest of designs: single-ended Class A output achieved with a single EL84, driven from 3x 12AX7 preamp tubes. The L5T-112 combo amplifier also features gold-plated PCB's and jack sockets. Sealed gold contact relays are used in all signal paths for minimum sound coloration, and the L5T-112 amp comes fitted with the renowned "Type 4" large spring line reverb for classic guitar reverb sound. Each L5T-112 Lionheart features a hand stamped build number in the order they come off the Laney production line, and a custom made Lionheart dust cover.

The Lionheart combo amp represents everything learned through 40 years of Laney tube heritage, distilled into a single amplifier range. Designed to deliver the ultimate tone of a tube being pushed hard - warm and expressive, at an output level that can be used in everyday environments.

This amp is an amazing amp, especially for its price. 5 watts? sounds like a hundred. It keeps up with the band on half volume... but the tubes start saturating about there so its great. By looks, it is just beautiful. Dark blue tolex with plenty of piping to really set it off. The control plate is chrome. The white chicken-head knobs seem to be the compromising factor-they look cheap, whereas the rest of the amp looks like a million dollars. It has a high and a low sensitivity input, a channel selection with footswitch (clean and drive). Using the right input and right channel, the only sound you cannont get out of this is amp is the sound of a modded JCM800 with a pedal boosting it, which i also own. They are a perfect match for A/B 'ing between. Reverb is fantastic. The only hum is with a distortion and an overdrive pedal in front of it. The amps are hand made, and are worth every penny. The only reason i didnt give it 10 out of 10 is because i still use my other amp sometimes.

Very expensive amp for a 5wt. Even though described as a practice amp good for bedroom volumes I disagree. This thing is too loud at lower volumes and looses sound quality. This amp needs to be cranked! I can't disagree with the quality though. It's really designed for a serious musician but not for everyone. (IMO)

Comments about Lionheart 5w Tube Guitar Combo Amp:

Highly recommended purchase! This amp cranks out a classic tube sound long lost in solid state amps. I have not experimented with the effects loop yet due to the tone is great without effects.
Also, don't shy away from the lower price "open-box" or "blemished" listings, mine arrive without any negative indication of visual or sound.

Comments about Laney Lionheart 5w Tube Guitar Combo Amp:

This beautiful amp is the best deal I have gotten in a long time, and I have had many! I bought it Condition Level 2 Blemished, because of alleged "dents", but was pleasantly surprised that it was more like Condition Level 1 - Mint. The "dents" were more like barely visible dimples in the blue Tolex in one small location on the back side no less! MF has always erred in my favor in their ratings I have found. Never be afraid to buy Condition 1, 2,and even 3, and most open box items with MF - you will score often, and you can always return anything you're not cool with in the 45 days they give you. This amp is has the best build quality of any British amp company out there, and I own both Vox (AC15, AC30C2, AC30C2X) and Orange (Pro Crush 120w 2x12 and Crish 20LDX 1x8) amps of great quality. It is made in Britain and has a numbered factory plate on back. The only thing I thought they could have done better with is the chickenhead knobs - white plastic kind of cheapens the look even though they function fine - black bakelite would have been better. The amp comes with 2-button footswitch for Drive/Reverb and a dust cover. I cannot begin to tell you how much the Lionheart is tone heaven. It is very tweakable and responsive as heck. It breaks up at low volumes wonderfully, and has personality. It will bring your guitar playing out with its honesty, so you can not hide substandard playing lol. This amp is a huge inspiration for me to get back to the rich tone of old school blues and classic rock. You will NOT be disappointed if you have taste and values as a musician. I would buy another one if I had the spare cash, just for the investment. This puppy will be a classic some day - people will come over to jam and say, "Oh, you have a Laney Lionheart lemme try it out!" I think this amp will be my main songwriting amp - it just has so much heart. Get your hands on one - even used - do not wait! Buy one yesterday! Still smiling about the price break I got on sweet unit. I won.

All the Tone You've Been Lookin' For

Comments about Laney Lionheart 5w Tube Guitar Combo Amp:

This little amp just oozes all the tone I've been trying to find without earbleeding volume. I just mic it to get the volume on stage. The tone control is a cool feature. The cleans sparkle and the drive is great through rock tone. I wouldn't say it is a metal amp though it takes pedals very well. Just for fun I have a line 6 Ubermetal (monster gain in a box) in my pedal board. It is as metal as I've ever heard. Really, this amp lives in the rock to blues range and you can get power tube distortion at relatively low volumes. The Greenback sounds incredible - big suprise - and I add a 1x12 with a Vintage 30 if I need to move a little more air. The two blend nicely and it gives you drummer level volume though I would say the drummer can't hugely loud (breakout the microphones). This amp is by far the best tone beast in the price range - and then some. Buy it if you can - they are hard to catch in stores to hear.

Comments about Laney Lionheart 5w Tube Guitar Combo Amp:

The sounds this amp makes will blow you away. After getting a little cash I was searching for an amp to do my guitar justice (Ibanez Prestige). I tried a Blackstar HT-5 which sounded pretty good, and some other low watt tube amps (Rebel, TT etc..). Then there was a used Lionheart on CL for 650. I tried it out and bought it on the spot. The reverb is great, the EQ is great and responsive (tone control is neat), bright switch is a nice addition, clean is great and drive is AMAZING. I do wish the drive had just a little more definition on single notes but I have only played one guitar through this amp so far so that might be my pickups. This amp also takes pedals VERY well. I have a DOD YJM308 and they work fantastic together. I highly recommend this amp. Quite possibly the best low watt tube amp you can buy.

        THE IT AMP

        By SoCalMan

        from SoCal

Comments about Laney Lionheart 5w Tube Guitar Combo Amp:

This is the amp you are looking for. Just stop trying to find a better amp, because there isn't one. Marshalls are great when cranked, but when are you ever going to get it that loud? Fenders are great, too, and they sound good loud, but just OK at low volume. Rich and full sound at reasonable volumes, but still pretty loud for use at home. I have never had so much fun playing an amp. Use a tube screamer and a distortion pedal, too, if you like.

        Found my perfect amp...

        By BamaJohn

        from AL

Comments about Laney Lionheart 5w Tube Guitar Combo Amp:

I'd owned high-wattage amps for 30 years before purchasing a Blackheart Little Giant and modding it. I was so impressed with the sounds I was getting that I bought a Vibro-Champ clone and then the Lionheart. For my style of blues/rock and playing in worship, there is no better amp that I've played. It has a huge, fat sound... like a million bucks, even at low volume. I use and 112 cab with a Vox Wharfedale 12" speaker for added punch and it complements the G12H very nicely. This amp looks and sounds fantastic. Laney support is very good, as well. I've had a number of Laneys in the past that I questions about and they are great to work with. However, I've never had a repair issue with any of my Laneys.

        Bad Company

        By Stuart Campbell

        from Louisville

Comments about Laney Lionheart 5w Tube Guitar Combo Amp:

Very loud, saturates early, and really responds to a boost pedal. I run a Boss DS-1 with the gain off, tone and level maxed, and this kicks my drive channel into blissful classic rock chunk and lead on the drive channel. An Alternative dream. A perfect studio amp just waiting for your favorite pedals. Made in England. Once the Greenback gets broken in, you'll marvel at the tones. I sometimes stare at the back panel and drool! If you can't get this to scream, you suck as a guitar player, period.
