OVERVIEW

Based on the classic AC30 design, with numerous up-to-date enhancements and Celestion Greenback speakers.

Power Sharing
The Vox AC30C2 amp makes use of 3 x 12AX7 preamp tubes and use 4 x EL84 tubes to deliver 30W of power. It uses 2 - 12" Celestion G12M Greenback speakers, and includes a switchable 8/16 ohm output jack for powering an external speaker cabinet when you need to speak with a little more authority; using this jack will mute the internal speakers. Additionally, the 30W guitar amp's 2nd extension speaker jack allows you to run an extra 16-ohm cabinet along with the internal speakers for a fuller sound.

An Evolution in Tone
This Vox amp offers two channels: Normal and Top-Boost. Each channel is equipped with its own Volume control, and the Top Boost channel offers highly interactive Treble and Bass tone controls. This powerful channel pairing provides an abundance of tone-crafting control, letting you dial in a classic sound that is all your own.

Both channels on this Vox tube amplifier rely on the Tone Cut and Volume controls in the Master section. The Tone Cut control operates in the power stage rather than the preamp stage, allowing an additional degree of tone shaping. The Master Volume control works in conjunction with the individual volumes of each channel to create just the right degree of gain staging. By balancing the individual and Master volumes, the Vox Custom amplifier can deliver everything from a clean Vox "chimey" sound to a powerful overdriven tone.

Sound in Motion
Sweeten the sound of your Custom Vox amplifier using its classic tremolo effect. Both the speed and the depth are adjustable, allowing you to generate just the sound you want. A warm Spring Reverb is also included on all Vox Custom guitar amps, adding spaciousness to the sound. The AC30C2 also includes an additional tone control in the Reverb section. The Vox Customer AC30C2 tube amp and all Vox Custom amps can use the optional Vox footswitch, allowing you to turn the Reverb and Tremolo effects on and off as you continue to play. The Vox Custom AC30C2 provides an effects loop for incorporating your favorite effects into your sound. True "Bypass" switching takes the entire effect loop out of the circuit.

I have always played Fender until now. I have a 63 bandmaster that I don't like to take to gigs anymore since it is almost 50 years old. Also have a Fender Vibro-King. Since this baby has arrived I find the other two are not being played much. I love the chimmy tones from the AC-30. The normal channel has that vintage tone that I was looking for. I love the simplicity of the normal channel. I put the master volume all the way up and the normal channel volume around 1/3 and and the tone cut just past half way and I a there! This thing loves pedals. I mostly play my Strat and Italia 12 string through this gem. The 12 string tone is to die for. This amp is very sensitive to where you play around the pickups or up the neck or near the bridge. I can see now why is has been a clasic for so long. The tremolo is great I will have to agree with others that that the reverb is ok, but I guess I am so used to the Fender reverb sound. That is easily fixed with my Boss 63 Reverb pedal. It gives it the sound I like. The Celestion Greenbacks are far and away better than what Fender is putting in their amps today! They are clear and responsive.

I play some Surf tunes and was surprised to find that the AC-30 sounds great playing this type of music. I can understand now why The Shadows stuck with Vox.

I bought this amp without ever playing one. I just did a lot of research and reading a lot of veviews and listening to U-tube videos. Don't let the fact that this amp is made in China scare you away.
THIS IS A GREAT AMP!!!!!!!!!!!
Can't find much about this amp that I don't like.
This thing is built like a tank! It would have been nice to have the vent covers and logo made from metal instead of plactic, but made well non the less. The cosmedics are great. It is a really cool looking amp.
The price is well within the ball park with other like amps.

This amp sounds great, but it took 3 tries for Musician's Friend to deliver one that functioned and wasn't damaged. Even the third one arrived with the top corner bracket broken. This amp sounds great, but it's close to 80 lbs. I can't imagine gigging with it, it's so fragile. I would advise it be used only at home and bought from a brick and mortar store.

Comments about Vox Custom AC30C2 30W 2x12 Tube Guitar Combo Amp:

This amp does not live up to the Vox name in almost all regards. It sounds terrible and is put together poorly. There are awful harmonic overtones that pop up often making this unacceptable for recording. If you want a cheap amp that has the vox name and will be using it for gigging only, it may suit the bill. Just dont play a real Vox made in England ever. After that you won't ever plug this toy back in.

Comments about Vox Custom AC30C2 30W 2x12 Tube Guitar Combo Amp:

I previously owned the AC30CC2 and traded it for a Fender Deluxe amp. Stupid decision on my part. The AC30C2 is way more versatile for a guy like me who plays everything from SRV to Radiohead. I recently bought the new AC30C2 and I must say is an improvement over the AC30CC2 mainly due to the speakers. The Celestions are way better than the Wharfdales. So rich and smooth. Creamy, clear, and thick overdrive, nice and rich. And cleans that sound so true to the guitar design. I play a Les Paul and Strat and both sound amazing.I've played everything from Hendrix and SRV to Oasis and Radiohead and got the tones I needed by tweaking the settings. This amp loves pedals btw. For the price you can't beat this amp. I could've spent $2000 on an amp and not been this happy!!!

Comments about Vox Custom AC30C2 30W 2x12 Tube Guitar Combo Amp:

I've been a guitarist for over 23 years. I've been in bands since age 14 and have had a variety of amps including Fender Twin Reverb, Peavey Classic, Peavey Valve King, and a Vox Valvetronix. The hunt for the perfect amp is over. This AC30 features a LOUD 30 watts of pure valve power and true tone. I have never heard a more beautiful shimmering sound come from my guitar when this amp is cleaned up. When played dirty, it brings out the exact sound of a thousand hit rock songs you've heard. This thing takes pedals extremely well and has an effects loop too. I couldn't be happier

Comments about Vox Custom AC30C2 30W 2x12 Tube Guitar Combo Amp:

This is the best sounding amp I have ever played through. I have been striving to get "my sound" for years, but I couldn't get what I wanted until I plugged into my AC30C2 Combo. It makes anything from the most beautifully warm clean sound possible, to a more bright and gainy sound, and everything in between. I have a Gibson Studio Les Paul (humbuckers), and a Fender Standard Telecaster (single coil). Both pickups on both guitars sound amazing through this amp. You cannot beat the clean sound of a neck pickup through an AC30. Though this amp is already incredible sounding, when I plug my Ibanez Tube Screamer (TS9) into it, I get some amazing sounds with any amount of gain that I want. I highly recommend purchasing a Tube Screamer (TS9) if you are considering this amp. I swear this pedal and amp were made for each other. I use this setup to play mostly indie/alternative and classic rock, but believe me when I say you can get a lot of great sounds out of it. The combo is powerful enough to gig with, yet small enough to practice with in your home. My favorite feature this amp has would be how well the tubes react to the player's style. You can really make a lot of different sounds through this amp just by fluctuating how hard you pick! The only con to this amp is its weight. It is very heavy, but then again, that is to be expected! Greatest amp I have ever played through!

Comments about Vox Custom AC30C2 30W 2x12 Tube Guitar Combo Amp:

This amp is the best amp for 1000 dollars, in my opinion. The top boost channel has unbelievably rich tones for just about any music style. Jump the normal and top boost channels together to get some screaming distortion. Roll the preamp volume down and get some perfect, chimey clean tones. Works extremely well with pedals and the effects loop is great as well. The only things i can complain about are the handles. For 1000 bucks, I think Vox could have used something other than plastic... Other than that, this thing is built like a TANK. Not fun to carry around though, LOL. Don't be discouraged by this amp being made in S. Korea, the quality is astounding.

Comments about Vox Custom AC30C2 30W 2x12 Tube Guitar Combo Amp:

The latest model Vox 212 tube combo is absolutely no slouch. When I brought it home, in less than a minute I had three different tones, and loved each one. I found that the Celestion speakers are definitely warmer than the Wharfedales, but both have a relatively rich sound, even when parked beside the classics; in my case, a 1962 Fender Tremolux, and a 1998 Johnson Millennium head. This amp is 30 watts of pure tube power, pushed through 2 12 inch Celestion speakers, in a semi open-back cabinet. Not a lot of sound belting out the back, but wonderful, rich and strong sounds coming out the front.I have played everything from a Vintage USA Fender Jaguar, a PRS Mira, a Gretsch Anniversary, and an Ibanez Artcore ES-175 style hollowbody, and each of them sounds like a dream played through this super amp.You can dial in whatever sound you like in seconds, with a gain dial, and two separate volumes, as well as a fully adjustable Trem and Reverb, with tone controls for each as well. I don't think I've ever played a better amplifier.I think it might be love.

Comments about Vox Custom AC30C2 30W 2x12 Tube Guitar Combo Amp:

Got one of these a few months back and I am so glad I did too. This amp just sings. If ya jump the channels this amp is a rock monster. I have a couple ABY boxes and run clean thru one channel and distortion boxes thru another, so I have two foot switchable channels. P.S. The Tech 21 Character Series pedals rock thru this amp. I have always liked Greenback speakers and am super happy with the sound they bring to this amp. The Tone of this amp is Super and a perfect start to a great sound. Once ya get used to how the knobs work you can dial in a great tone. Yes the knobs work differently than other amps, but you'll figure it out. This amp is a keeper and I would highly recommend it. I bought the AC4TV as well and am really happy with Vox's products.

I don't own this amp but I got the opportunity to play it and I must say it was impressive-especially at that price point! I have always loved the tone of the AC30 but didn't have the bucks for one. Just a few minutes of tinkering with this amp and I had dialed in both amazing clean and beautiful overdriven tones. This amp is a winner if you want your guitar to sound great. It lives up to the AC30 name and reputation!

Comments about Vox Custom AC30C2 30W 2x12 Tube Guitar Combo Amp:

One of my favorite amps ever. I was torn between this and a fender twin, but after weeks of research and playing both at local stores I'm glad i went with the ac30c2. It seems more versatile than the fenders. People say the clean tone isn't as nice as fender, but i love it and it sounds better to me. I play radio rock and pop country and I can't think of an amp that does a better job. The only thing that isn't awesome is the reverb, but that's no problem at all as you can just use a pedal. It's not that the reverb sounds bad, it just isn't very noticable even turned all the way up. Also glad i saved a few hundred by not buying the c2x and sticking with the greenbacks in the c2. My friend has the c2x and has left it at my house for months. They both sound killer but you really need them really really loud to hear any difference...louder than you'd play at most gigs. Whichever one anyone chooses, they'll be happy with either! Best amp that can give you the sound you need to play anything from the 1975 to Florida Georgia Line to red hot chili peppers to Paramore. This amp does everything and everything well, except metal.

Comments about Vox Custom AC30C2 30W 2x12 Tube Guitar Combo Amp:

Don't let the size fool you - it's louder than my Marshall MA100 half stack! Make sure before you "judge" this amp that you break in the Celestions. It sounded good out of the box and it keeps getting better. Definitely has a "Vox" sound and all the controls work exactly as advertised. The tremolo and reverbs are really good. Took me only 10 minutes to dial in the sound I wanted on all 4 inputs. I don't know why the heck I haven't bought one of these before now. Good versatility, but not a "metal" amp - I didn't buy it for that. Definitely enough power for a club venue and mic'd up? No limit. It's a Vox, sounds like a Vox and that's exactly the sound I wanted. Yes, it's heavy and when it comes to amps, heavy is usually good. In this case I don't mind it at all, worth the lugging around to get the sound.

Comments about Vox Custom AC30C2 30W 2x12 Tube Guitar Combo Amp:

Having decided on a Vox AC30, I was split between purchasing the discontinued AC30CC2 or the newer AC30C2. I had the opportunity to try out a few AC30CC2s in person, but opted to buy the AC30C2 sight unseen, based on the refinements and press. While it doesn't quite make sense, it sounds positively better and it's a Vox AC30 in every sense. Great chime and it responds nicely to my overdrive and fuzz pedals to dirty up. From an indie music perspective, with a tendency towards garage rock it's a killer amp that's really fun.

Comments about Vox Custom AC30C2 30W 2x12 Tube Guitar Combo Amp:

This amp sounds great, but it took 3 tries for Musician's Friend to deliver one that functioned and wasn't damaged. Even the third one arrived with the top corner bracket broken. This amp sounds great, but it's close to 80 lbs. I can't imagine gigging with it, it's so fragile. I would advise it be used only at home and bought from a brick and mortar store.

I was looking for a good combo tube amp and this one is perfect. I absolutely love the sound I get out of it.

Comments about Vox Custom AC30C2 30W 2x12 Tube Guitar Combo Amp:

I've been playing over 30 years, owned lots of amps and play through a variety of set ups even now. But I LOVE this amp; all shades and tones are readily available; 'jangly' cleans to 'dirty' lows and pretty much most in between. I must confess that my preferred style is 'country rock' so maybe this amp is just suited to the genre. That said, I can coax some serious 'metal' if the amp is pushed. Which you may not want to do; don't be fooled by the 30w moniker - this amp is loud enough.
