Just received this bass got the metallic blue, wanted a fretless in my arsenal without dropping a lot of cash. Overall it's a decent bass for how inexpensive it is. The setup is pretty good no string buzz, mine actually came with flatwounds already on it but I ordered some backups also, I recommend putting flatwounds on it maybe even tapewounds. The pickups are cheap but there isn't any noise coming from them i'm gonna replace them eventually with DiMarzio DP126 pickups. My cons are that it arrived with a chip on the body at the lower bout, scratches on the back cover plate and it was dusty, but so what the bass is so inexpensive and I plan on beating it up anyways. Definitely a good addition to your arsenal without feeling like you spent any money

Great bass to add to. The dot alignment makes it a little flat, but that's a small problem. Line the dots up properly, and you're good to go.

This bass was great for my intended purposes (yours may differ). I have wanted to begin learning fretless but was unsure about dropping $700+. My only condition was that it was to be an unlined. I was skeptical because previously I have played mostly higher end instruments-Fender, Warwick, etc. Right out of the box I noticed how cool it looked (love looking at that unlined fretboard), though I'm really not a fan of the headstock. The flatwounds it came with actually sounded dull to me, as if they were really dead roundwounds. I eventually switched them out for roundwounds and it sounds much better. The bass is great for practicing and I'm inspired to pick it up again and again. I will eventually donate it to the local high school band shell and get a better instrument however.

There are some cons here. I would not play this bass live at a gig. If the instrument cable wiggles at all, the sound is cut in and out through the amplifier. The pickups are cheap, and so you get what you would expect out of them (OK tone, but nothing that really makes you go "Yeahhhh, I like that"). The back of the neck feels a bit unfinished. Not too bad, but noticeably rougher than any neck I've ever played. This neck is an unfinished neck that was supposed to be fretted I believe. The side fret markers are where they would be for a fretted instrument-meaning they are in the middle of the frets. For instance, if you want to hit a G on your lowest string, you would not put your finger on the 3rd fret marker, but slightly after it because that fret marker designates between fret #2 and fret #3. My understanding is that unlined fretless basses typically have the marker right on the actual fretline. It's not so much of a big deal, but I did play for an entire week wondering why anything I played didn't quite sound right.

In summation, if you are like me and want something to practice with and make sure you like before you upgrade then this is perfect. If you are looking for something to start gigging with immediately, I'd look elsewhere. Cheers.

Boys and girls...If you want to explore the untamed (and sometimes risky) world of the fretless bass, do talk with a real musician who knows about these sometimes unforgiving instruments.
If there are none, then fortunately your Uncle Patrick found some disturbing comments.
You need to alter your playing approach.

Instead of playing between what we shall call "invisable frets," (as though you are playing a regular fretted instrument) place your fingertips over the invisable frets.

As for the Rogue LX200BF, I've never played one, but with my experience with other Rogue instruments, would almost be willing to bet that this is a low-priced but high quality instrument.
I recommend any Rogue instrument. If you don't like it, send it back and either get a replacement or your money back.

This review is coming from a novice, so an experienced player may not have a whole lot of use with it.

The first thing I noticed about this bass is that it is extremely light. Initially I was worried that it meant that it could break easily, but close inspection and a couple of months of play show that this is a solid bass.

The dots on the side of the neck were clearly designed for a standard fretted bass, and it's best to ignore them to break the habit of looking at the neck to find positions anyway, so I personally have no problem with that. Better for ear training and muscle memory.

The pickups are a little strange. They feel kind of spring-loaded and were extremely close to the strings, like just short of touching them. I tightened them down to have the base of the mounting screws flush with the body, and it still sounds fine on the amp. I haven't really spent any time learning about pickups, so I'm afraid I can't really comment any further on that.

It does feel somewhat cheap compared to most other basses I've used, but the quality is awesome for such a low price.

I got the white pearl and it looks pretty good. The routing around the pickups is a little rough. I basically got it to try out a fretless bass and deciding if my next bass will have frets or not. It will serve that purpose just fine. Not bad for practice but I wouldn't really recommend it much for gigs.
Biggest complaint would be with the electronics. It has four knobs. On mine I have found that two control volume, one for tone, and one for the amount of buzz I want coming through the amp. Not sure if it is a wiring issue or what, but if I keep that knob all the way down the buzz is minimal. It also doesn't seem very loud. My other bass is a little bit on the quite side, and this one is even quieter. Not a problem for practicing in the bedroom, but depending on how big your amp is it could be a problem with a band.

I bought this used, sight unseen and I can see why it was returned. The routing in the neck cavity was garbage. There where a few shims in there to try to even it out I guess, but they were misplaced causing the neck to be even more uneven.aside from that and weak electronics(all of which are an easy fix), its a very playable bass for the price.

I got this bass about a year ago and it has held up very well! There isn't anything that I can think about this bass that is bad. The pickups give the bass an amazing warm tone, but it can also be switched to sound brighter. It was super easy to set up and I have yet to have a single problem with this. If you are looking to start playing fretless, or you already do and want to add another to the collection, I would highly suggest this one. It is cheap and sounds amazing!

I'm actually a drummer who just enjoys playing bass for fun. Since I don't perform on bass, I didn't need much to just sit on my couch and entertain myself. I wanted a fretless without lines because it helps my ear training. This one fills the bill nicely- for the price it's very playable. Other reviews said it would need some set up, but mine arrived with correct intonation and reasonably good action. Excellent value.

This bass is trash. I have a lot of basses and a friend found this while sifting through his brother's estate. It had a receipt and it was about 3 months old, so I played it and I have to say, even for a cheap bass this sounds bad. It's comparable to the First Act basses you can pick up at Wal*Mart. I'm a touring musician and I know basses, This one is really only good for a little kid's first bass.
