This is DEFINITELY a solid cymbal, however, in my lineup of Paiste Alphas and pst5 Thin Crashes, it does not cut through and isn't as loud as the rest. For this reason, I use mine as a Crash/Ride and it works perfectly for that. I've had it for about probably a year now and it has very few marks or anything on it and, like I said, it is a very solid and good cymbal for beginners. If you're looking for a crash/ride but don't want to buy an expensive one and have crashes that are louder and cut through very well, buy this for that reason. Perfect cymbal for what I ask it to do and I love it.

the sole purpose of buying this series of cymbal was to use them as touring and practice sessions. i do own and am a hardcore paiste fan. i do have the fancier alphas and 2002 series but those are used for big shows and bands. obviously i couldnt resist comparing them to the better series and these guys have a flat and short sound. one thing i do like for the price is the looks and durability in the pst's. ive let other bands use these and in the crowd as i mentioned before they look good and can hear them pretty well with all instruments in a live set. im pretty satisfied with my purchase as i bought a 14 and 16 inch. i am also considering a 18 china and possible ride but am not in a hurry of buying them. for the price it is a good investment and for being a bronze material, it looks good as welll as sounds average. also a bad note is the 14 inch has a very short and sweet sound once hit vs. the 16, so i do recommend the 16. in all, im happy with my purchase and had these guys for about 6 months and still has its shine. it does have light scratches from constant live performances but can easily be treated with cleaners and conditioners.

It is difficult to buy cymbals on the internet. This one was not even close to what I had hoped for. Sent it back for a refund. Guess I will stick to buying from a local music store (and paying more).

Comments about Paiste PST 3 Crash:

The genre I play is indie rock. I've had this cymbal for about three years, but soon after I started using it, I switched it out for a heavier crash. This is because this cymbal has a very fast decay, doesn't cut through other sounds, and has a thin, trebly tone that isn't what I was going for.

Then, about six months ago, I decided to expand my kit a bit, and I gave this guy another go. As a secondary crash, it's PERFECT. It's got more presence than a splash would, and does a great job of adding variety to fills.

So, as your only crash: awful! As a secondary crash: great!

Comments about Paiste PST 3 Crash:

All Paiste cymbals are very nice, perfict for any beggining drummer. I'm just starting out with a full set of pst 3 cymbals. But the 14in crash sounds more like a hi hat or a large splash. They are still very nice cymbals. Cheap with pro quality and looks. They are pretty loud when you hit them.

      Paiste PST 3 16'' Crash

Comments about Paiste PST 3 Crash:

      One great product.
Got this great amazing fantastic cymbal. I'm simply BLOWN away by how great it is. I mean this cymbal sounds better than some high end cymbals, and believe me, I know. it doesn't sustain for so long that by the time you finish rehearsal its still ringing. Its sustain is pretty short, just how I like it.
After a while I saw bits of the coating disappearing, but it wont dent or crack. Great thing.
      Buy it, its worth it.

Comments about Paiste PST 3 Crash:

I read the reviews and wanted to give it a shot, but this is a worthless crash. It sounds crapper then my sabian crash thats cracked. This has no sound but a flat dry metal thud. I would not recommend this to anyone at all. It's pathetic.

Comments about Paiste PST 3 Crash:

I'm still pretty new to the drumming business, but I am very happy with my Paiste PST 3 16" crash. I broke three pairs of sticks while I was using this cymbal and to date I have no dents in it. The sound quality is great for a cymbal of this price range. It is a very good deal overall; for the money. I truely enjoy the paiste line of products.

Comments about Paiste PST 3 Crash:

first of all i was a little skeptical because you know its paiste pst 3 which ive heard sound bad or crack bad. but since i spent all my money on a drum kit and had to sell my previous kit and cymbals i was forced to get this. im so glad i chose this because my 3 options were zildjian zbt, meinl hcs, or paiste pst 3. i dont think either could compare to this thing in sound. i mean its no a custom or aax but it gets the job done and it real realiable to stick around for a while until you get new cymbals.

Comments about Paiste PST 3 Crash:

This cymbal is okay for a beginner. Although, i would recommend Meinl HCS or Sabian B8. This crash doesn't seem to be loud and it feels cheap. Not a very good cymbal, but if on a tight budget, go ahead and get it. Meinl HCS is still better in my opinion

When I bought this crash, a couple of months ago, I bought it because it was, at the time, the cheaper cymbal, but when I played on it it sounded exspensive. So what I'm saying is, great cymbal(for the price)!!

        By Anonymous

        from Undisclosed

Comments about Paiste PST 3 Crash:

I purchased the 14inch PST3 cymbal to go with my PST3 13inch hihats and 18crash/ride. It sounds great all together, but by itself it lacks a little power. The decay is also somewhat short but I like less ring in the music I play. All in all a really good cymbal, great if you pair it with other PST3 or PST5 cymbals. If you are adding to other kinds of cymbals just use the product description it's close.

Comments about Paiste PST 3 Crash:

I bought this to replace a pulse i6" crash that I had totaly trashed. While I like this cymbal, it's not good for all aplications. The sound has a nice sizzleing kind of finish to it, but even the the 16" is really high pitched. It sounds like a 14" should, so that makes me wonder what the 14" would sound like. Great for acents and fast playing, but not loud or epic enough to be a heavy crash

This crash is not for me. It sucks. You can hit it really hard and the blast it only last 2 seconds. Maybe for metal music works great but not for my style of music.

Comments about Paiste PST 3 Crash:

So, a friend of mine got a first act drum set off another friend and it had the first act crash and hi hats, then a paiste 101 20" ride which was nice. So we were looking for some new cymbals and we found this and the pst 3 hi hats. This ride is very durable. I've been beating the crap outta it and it holds up very nicely. It has a very nice sound and fades off fairly quickly. Personally i like the longer ring. It's not like a Zildjian or a Sabian but it's still very nice. I recommend for beginners or drummers on a budget.
