looks like the reviews already speak for themselves but i gotta add- this cymbal is delicious. PERFECT tone for what i needed. the 20'' was too big and washy for me, but i needed a bigger sound than an 18'' so obviously i got the 19''. it has just the right amount of wash but still comes through crystal clear on the recordings. paired with the 22'' a custom ride, the duality hits the eardrums just rights. theres a reason a customs are the gold standard, get ahold of some! if you cant afford them new, they maintain their sound if you can get them used as well.

if you are trying to decide between a's, k's, or z's, lemme offer this. a customs are the all around good-for-everything cymbals. they are loud enough for rock, but can be played more mellow as well. k's have very dark tones, great for jazz and related styles. great cymbals as well but they get lost in the mix if you have a lot of loud guitar tones to keep up with. z customs, although discontinued, are LOUD, they are typically heavier and have a different composition than the a's and k's. perfect for rock, probably even good for metal. the only problem is finding them sometimes.

hope it helps, keep rockin.

I bought one of these fine cymbals, thinking it would sound perfect. For a short time, my 16' a custom crash sounded beatutiful, and flawles. However, the quality turend out to be pitiful. I play grunge, and this cymbal cracked extremely bad in no time at all. If you play the least bit hard on your cybals, dont even consider this product. What a waste of $$$.

19 and 20

Comments about Zildjian A Custom Crash Cymbal:

I've had the 19 and 20 inch A Custom crashes for about 7 months now and they are terrific. Don't trust people when they say these things arent durable and crack easily, I'm a pretty heavy hitter and after 7 months they show no signs of cracking any time soon. These are probably cymbals I can keep the rest of my life. And sound wise they are great. I like that they are not too bright sounding and also not too deep, it's right in the middle of the two. To me, the Fast crashes sound too bright and the Medium crashes are just a little to thick and deep for my liking, where these are a perfect medium between the two. I high reccommend these crashes to everybody.

Comments about Zildjian A Custom Crash Cymbal:

I own the 16 and 18 inch cymbals. I also have been using them for about 2-3 years now.

These cymbals are excellent for any situation. Recording, live shows, whatever! The sound quality is top-notch. I recently recorded a full length album with my band using these cymbals and they sound beautiful! They sound bright, articulate, expressive and can be played in light, delicate musical settings or even heavy rocking situations.

People seem to be complaining about durability. I haven't had the misfortune of cracked cymbals. I'm a hard-hitter myself and they show no signs of cracking, so my experience has led me to believe that they are quite durable.

Get these cymbals and you won't need to look any further. They'll be all that you need and will serve any purpose....You will not regret it!

Want to sound amazing? Buy this cymbal

Comments about Zildjian A Custom Crash Cymbal:

I've had the 16" and 20" versions of the A customs, as well as the hats and ride, but the crashes are the best cymbals you can buy in this price range(k series are better, but who wants to pay that?) The 20" lasts and lasts through all I put it through. The 16" is great, but I put a massive crack in it, eventually taking a chunk out of it. Buy these cymbals. They sound great everywhere, studio, live, whatever.

Comments about Zildjian A Custom Crash Cymbal:

I purchased this 18" crash as a part of the A-Custom cymbal pack. Sounds and looks amazing. Less than six months later I discovered its already cracked. Greatly disappointed. Been playing 20+ years, experienced professional, I know its not from abuse. I had cheaper cymbals last years and years that I had to switch back to after the A-Custom cracked. Perhaps it was just defective in its production. Didn't even purchase the warranty thinking these also would last years and years. Might get another but get the warranty this time.

Comments about Zildjian A Custom Crash Cymbal:

Great cymbals. I have used them for years and can't get enough of them. If you hit cymbals correctly and play drums right, you shouldn't have a problem cracking these cymbals while still being able to get the full attack of the cymbals. I play heavy music and still have not cracked a cymbal in 15 years, it's all about technique. I would suggest anyone to buy these.

Comments about Zildjian A Custom Crash Cymbal:

I own a 16' and a 17' A custom crash, and they are the best cymbals ive ever played. The good thing about A customs is that the more you play them the better they sound. Ive had my 16' for almost 3 years and my 17' for 2 and they sound amazing. they sound really good when hit individually and even better together. i highly recommend A customs for any style of music

Don't buy a cadillac if you want to go four-wheeli

      By Sonor5555

      from Denver

Comments about Zildjian A Custom Crash Cymbal:

There are some negative comments from those that play hardcore music; these cymbals are not meant for beating to death. These are serious musical instruments meant for tone, not for volume (pricey maybe but worth it). While we were in the studio our engineer had brought in a couple of his own Custom A's for another band and suggested I throw a couple on my kit just for kicks... first take... back in the control room to listen and my jaw just dropped! I could not believe the difference between those and my AA's. I don't think I could buy another kind of cymbal.. EVER. If you are in any way serious about your drumming you have to at least listen to these.

      Great Bright Crash Cymbals

      By Anonymous

      from Undisclosed

Comments about Zildjian A Custom Crash Cymbal:

I've owned several A Custom crashes; a 17", a 16" fast, and an 18". They are all excellent cymbals. The 17" lasted about 6 years and was the absolute best crash I've ever owned. I played in bands ranging from pop, to metal, to fusion and it worked great for them all. The A customs have a nice attack and bloom to the sound but don't carry on too long. The 16" fast crash lasted about 4 years and had a quick voice that was nice for mid verse accents. The 18" is loud and has a nice smooth quality, a great cymbal for my Texas Blues band. The A Customs take all the great qualities of the Avedis line and do away with the harsh overtones and gonginess that the Avedis cymbals tend to have. Vinny Coliauta has a winning design philosophy with the A Customs, thats why they are the only cymbals I buy.

      best sounding cymbal to me

      By Powersville drummer

      from central ga

      See all my reviews

Comments about Zildjian A Custom Crash Cymbal:

i prefer a crash sound that's bright but not thin, with a medium volume and somewhat quick but not immediate decay. A Customs have been my favorite for a few years now to achieve this sound. they have a thick sound that cuts through without being over powering like thicker cymbals. also, its a bit washy, so you're hearing the cymbal itself moreso than the stick hitting it. The only cymbals i've found that i like better are the A Custom Rezo's, because they have more overtones which add very thick, melodic tonal qualities to the crash, plus a slightly bigger bell. Cymbals are definitely a matter of opinion, so i've tried to describe the sound i like and why A Customs deliver that. Also, even though the A custom is a thinner cymbal, they are durable as anything and if you travel with your cymbals alot, that is obviously very important! And last but definitely not least, they sound absolutely great in recordings. i recorded a demo a while back, it was reviewed by a guy who pretty much trashed everything about it, from songwriting to sound (hater!...) but did make a point to mention how great the cymbals sounded! not even relatively, just that the cymbals sounded really great and better than most demos he hears (i recorded drums with the cheapest CAD mic set i could find...also a great purchase if you're looking)

Comments about Zildjian A Custom Crash Cymbal:

I orignally was in the market for a new ride cymbal when I came across this cymbal. It's sound is all I could ever want out of a crash cymbal. I own the 20" and am now upgrading all my cymbals to the A customs. They have a very nice flex to them so they never sound too "rigid" or "cow-bell" like and the bell offers such an amazing warm yet crisp sound that blows my mind. These are the best cymbals period. Great for ANY style. Well worth the money.

I just picked up my 17 inch A custom Crash at my local music store. I put it on my kit and proceeded to annoy the neighbors for a long time... I use it as my primary crash and it is incredible. It shimmers, It's bright without an annoying overtone, it's slightly dark without being dry, it rings forever and then some and it is visually spectacular... Simply Amazing.

i have the 18'' a custom and it absoulutely SINGS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! you know that one cymbal on your drumset that you cherish and always love to hit, well this is it!!! what you want to do with thic cymbal is keep it in the area of your drumset that is easiest to get to, because once you learn how good the tone is on this thing, you WILL want it to be your main cymbal, your logo, your reprasentative, your best buddy if you will. this thing is so amazing that the first hour that i had it, i just sat there on my drumset playing this ONE cymbal, seeing how it fits into EVERY SINGLE GENRE OF MUSIC KNOWN TO MAN!!!!!!!!!!

Comments about Zildjian A Custom Crash Cymbal:

I've had the 18" for about 4 years and it's been a great cymbal. The weight is fairly thin which makes it a very responsive cymbal. Easy to build up a lot of wash, or it has a full crash sound. I've used it as an alternative ride with my K Ride. The bell has a nice loud ping sound. Probably not ideal for those that want to play really hard, but it makes a great crash or crash ride!

Comments about Zildjian A Custom Crash Cymbal:

I bought this cyble about 2 months ago and at first i wasnt to impresed but like most zildjins after you beat on it a few times it sounded much better. This is the best cymbal on my set and im going to buy a 14 and 18 to match the 16. they are a little expensive but good. Buy them!

Comments about Zildjian A Custom Crash Cymbal:

This crash is the best crash I've ever played. I own a 17", and I love it, so much that I'm going to buy another one!! When you think of what a cymbal SHOULD sound like, you end up with the sound the A Custom's give you! These cymbals are the best, and they match perfectly with the other top cymbals: Sabian HHX Evolution Crashes
