Comments about Suzuki SCX Chromatix Series Harmonica:
I really don't know why someone is complaining about the reeds going south on these harps. I've got one I've been playing for almost 10 years, and I've never replaced the reeds, or even adjust the reeds, and I even bend notes (yes, you can bend notes on one of these) occasionally. I haven't even had to replace windsavers. They've got a real rich sound, and, like all Suzuki harmonicas, are *much* better built than Hohners. The only problem I've had is that I occasionally have to adjust the slide.

Comments about Suzuki SCX Chromatix Series Harmonica:
I've developed a Love Hate relationship with these Harmonica's. They are wonderfully made and designed. They are beautiful little instruments with a big sound . . . but they are Fragile. Very Fragile! The fact is, Historically speaking, not one Chromatix Harp has lasted an entire year without losing a reed. In fact maybe 8 months. At first I thought, (and was told by suzuki) it was me, but after several years and changing my style and babying these harps . . . I don't think its me any longer. So what I do is make sure I have backups for each key. Then when one go's south, I grab the backup and send the sick Harp to the shop. That makes Suzuki happy I'm sure. But its hard to justify the expense. All said tho, I haven't found another harp that I would replace them with, and I've tried them all. So long story short, Love the Sound, Hate the Fragility. You have to decide for yourself, is it worth the cost and headache. Below ask would you recommend to a friend. The answer is yes - But an Experienced Friend/Player and only after reading this.
Comments about Suzuki SCX Chromatix Series Harmonica:
This is one beautiful instrument. Very well made. And it comes in a sturdy plastic case along with a polishing cloth. The first day I just sat there and looked at it without picking it up. When I did pick it up, I was surprised just how heavy it was.
I am just learning to play the harmonica, so I can't get real technical about this review. But compared to the Diatonic harmonicas that I've been playing, it simply blows them away.
The finish is flawless, The slide is super smooth. The notes are precise with no sticking of the reeds.
I've been playing Hohner Proharp diatonics for the last few years, and I wanted to try my hand at chromatics. This is a whole new ballgame...
I am very glad I purchased this instrument. It is not cheap by no means, but neither is a Gibson. I bought mine in the key of G, and I plan on buying a few more in different keys after I learn how to play it.
The slide is super smooth.
The shape is very comfortable. It fits your hand like a glove.
I like the round holes on the mouthpiece, compared to the square ones found on other harmonicas. It gives you much more control over the notes your playing.
Flawless finish. More chrome than a '57 Bel Air. When you pull this out to play it, people will notice.
Nothing is free in life. You get what you pay for.
