Neck could be a little slimmer. But, overall, a great starter guitar for a child.
I'm a luthier, and often asked by parents to help them find a guitar for a small child. "But I don't want to spend much," they always say, because they are afraid that their child won't stick with it. I explain that they have to spend a minimum amount of money to get something that plays well and sounds OK -- otherwise, they guarantee that their child won't stick with it and they're throwing their money away. For a larger child, I recomment the Fender Squier Bullet -- but now I've found this for smaller children. Out of the box, though, it needed a little work. So if you're a parent, you may need a little help setting the guitar up. It was not intonated, the bridge needed adjustment (to match the curve of the neck) and there was not enough tension on the truss rod. After that, though, it's a real, playable instrument. At the price, the kid has a chance. If he or she loses interest, you can probably sell it to another parent and get your money back. Not so with the discount store junk out there.
Good frets. Humbucker pickup sounds pretty good, too.

Don't expect to play it straight out of the box. Intonation wasn't even remotely close. It sucks to play a guitar that can't be tuned right. I'm gonna probably have to take it in and pay to have it done cause I'm not very good at it and its so far out it'll take me forever :( Other than that it seems OK but right now its unplayable

Comments about Rogue Rocketeer RR50 7/8 Scale Electric Guitar:

I give it a four reason being seems the tuners could be better but what do expect for the price plan to do some mods.
Can't really say much about features kinda plain one humbucker and 1 volume
Got the guitar today as far quality think made pretty good not expert but what seen so far it's made well one draw back are the tuners little cheap but time will tell..
Can't beat it for the price.

Great little guitar!

Comments about Rogue Rocketeer RR50 7/8 Scale Electric Guitar:

My dad got this for me for christmas, now i play guitar (for 11 years) and i wanted a small guitar to have beside my desk, so when i just want to play a little bit and don't feel like digging out my tele or strat, i'll grab this. Not crazy about humbuckers, but hey it don't sound bad at all, real powerfull sound. The pickup is about 11K ohms (in other words high output). Out of the box, neck was straight, no adjustment needed, i put heavier gauge strings on it to fit my style, i'm used to flatwounds and when this came with small 9-42's on it, i was bending them just making chords, so i put a set of 10-46 on it. Also, the guitar stays in tune great, it will drift at first, which is because the strings aren't broke in yet. Mine is in red, and there is only one small flaw in the paint, above the pickup, there is like a sag in it, no bid deal to me at all. And its really light as well. And i really like the feel of the neck, feels like a strat neck, maybe a little thicker but not much. Great little guitar! I'd really reccomend this for someone wanted a small guitar to sit around and play AND kids learning to play, this would be a great first electric guitar for a younger kid just starting out. Can't beat it for the price, best deal on the market!
Not many features with a single pickup guitar, but whats there is really good!
Great quality, ready to play out of the box (after tuning) 9 because of the small sag, which is really no bid deal to me at all.
Best buy avaible for a 7/8 guitar, like i said its perfect for a kid starting out or someone whos' been playing but wants a small guitar to sit around and play.

Comments about Rogue Rocketeer RR50 7/8 Scale Electric Guitar:

I bought this in hopes thast the neck would, when set up properly, be playable (most are, provided you're patient with truss-rod adjustments before setting the intonation). This guitar's neck is surprisingly hefty--feels like a 'boat-neck' Esquire, and the frets were seated and filed OK. Tuners and bridge were, as I expected, junk. For my purposes (hot-rodding and decorating), a fair neck and a black body were my criteria: I purchased a Badas s bridge/saddle assembly, a set of Sperzel staggered lock-tuners, and an on/on/on mini-toggle (to let one pickup select single, parallel, or HB).If I cared about 'tone' circuits on guitars (I don't; I adjust my pickup(s) height in its bezel and then leave the tone-removal knob alone--or get rid of it) I'd have installed a stacked vol/tone 'concentric' pot to use the same control-cavity hole for the one vol pot. The one-knob cavity will just fit a mini-toggle along with a knob...The pickup, an 11k HB, is 'serviceable' but clangy, and lacks a pleasant harmonic structure; I got a Carvin 14k 'Super Distortion' HB to fix that....
I got this Rocketeer, ultimately, for a swirl-paint project, and ensured that, when put back together, it would play and sound great (and be stage-worthy). I put in about three-fifty five on this altogether, and have a unique-looking guitar with premium parts (and a neck-scale that allows awesome note-range within the shape of your hand). I considered this purchase a "bolt-on neck and a body" on which to build my project. I would be surprised if anyone ordered one of these and got a decent, ready-to-rock, halfway set up guitar--for this price you're really buying woodwork and some junk hardware to start a project with. That's what I expected, and just what I got. My project came out so well that I've since bought a 5/6th Ibanez Destroyer to do a similar build with. This Rocketeer is the cheapest neck/body with which to build a project guitar that I've ever seen. I've been offered 3x what I put into it, BTW! All you'll need is a soldering iron, a set of feelers (for string set-up), some real parts....and inspiration.

Very happy with purchase

Comments about Rogue Rocketeer RR50 7/8 Scale Electric Guitar:

I purchased this for my 9 year old son who is just getting started at guitar. It's a great size for him and he is very happy with it. The quality is very good, especially for the price, and I find it easy to play (I'm pretty much a novice too). If an adult is looking for a slightly more compact guitar, I'd have no hesitation recommending this one.

One thing to note: I personally think we were sent the wrong color. Our really isn't very purple at all. Its more of a red than purple (see photo). My son didn't really care as it looks good and personally I like it more than the purple one advertised. If it had been for my daughter, she would have not been happy. So unfortunately I cannot say definitively whether or not the picture is misleading -- again, my guess is we got the wrong one.

Comments about Rogue Rocketeer RR50 7/8 Scale Electric Guitar:

I bought this for my girlfriend a year ago for Christmas. She is very petite, so she needs a small-scale instrument. This guitar is great for her small hands and short reach. The neck feels good, much like a Fender C-shape neck. The action is good out of the box and low, but not too low. There is little, if any fret buzz. It is a good looking instrument, if a bit plain.

Now to the bad news - the sound is mediocre, but that's okay, because it is meant to be a cheap beginner's instrument or one for travel. I'm sure that the main cause of the cruddy sound is the pickup, but there is no reason to replace it, as that would cost as much as the guitar originally cost. It sounds good enough to learn on. The main issue that bugs me is that the frets are badly placed, so there are some bad intonation problems, which made chords sound freaky and out of tune, even if the guitar is in tune. In addition, the tuning machines are junk and do not hold the instrument in tune for long. Once again, what do you expect for the price?

The strings that it comes with are junk and must be replaced immediately. I put some ultra-light 9 gauge Rotosound strings on it for her and it is super fast and feels like butter. It plays effortlessly, as I am used to heavy strings and a high action.

It is still a good small-scale beginner's guitar and I would recommend it for that purpose.

Comments about Rogue Rocketeer RR50 7/8 Scale Electric Guitar:

The lack of a tone control isn't a deal breaker, but having one would be nice.
Very basic guitar, one humbucking pickup, one volume, no tone controls.
String through body. Decent tuners and bridge-saddle. Nice finish on the body and neck.
Neck should have been a bit narrower, imho. Humbucker has very nice tone.
I don't think you'll find a better instrument at this price. It comes with a gig bag, set of picks, neck strap and 1/4" cable.

Comments about Rogue Rocketeer RR50 7/8 Scale Electric Guitar:

Whether as a first guitar or for use onstage, this is a great addition to your arsenal!
The Rocketeer offers a scale slightly shorter than a Gibson (longer than a Byrdland) which allows more extreme string bending. The singe bridge pickup has great tone, especially when distorted, and the lack of a tone pot keeps the signal hotter and puts tone controls where they belong: on the amp. This would be perfect for an entire set or as a second guitar for specific songs. It gives you the optons of a Lest Paul Junior at an insanely low price. The guitar is worth more in parts alone! The tuners are good and stable and quality overall is first class. You can't go wrong buying one!
FIT AND FINISH ARE FIRST RATE!
A professional grade guita at the price of a clunker!

Comments about Rogue Rocketeer RR50 7/8 Scale Electric Guitar:

Personally I think the neck width and shape are exactly right. They are standard. No need to make the neck narrower or smaller (just My Opinion). Kids can handle this size for practice. Ever see the small kids in that video in Korea where they are playing Classic guitars? They handle it fine. Quality is not super-refined but it is very good. This is the 4th Rogue guitar I have purchased (large & small ones). I like them all, particularly the body shape and hollow tone. One standard size Basswood and the Pawlonia were too heavy. Be sure to get the Deluxe version !

Comments about Rogue Rocketeer RR50 7/8 Scale Electric Guitar:

I had wanted a short scale guitar for a while, as I enjoyed playing a neighbor's old Fender duo-sonic. This was an amazing buy on SDOTD. I like that the single pickup is placed well, giving a bit more bass, and having just a touch of strat quack. I'm not a beginner, and this is not necessarily a beginner's guitar, as the neck is substantial enough for most adults. The tuners and all equipment are just fine and do not need replacement.

I thought enough of the little beast to install an xtrem bigsby and a wilkinson roller bridge. It is fun, though not quite a dive bomber.

Comments about Rogue Rocketeer RR50 7/8 Scale Electric Guitar:

Amazing quality guitar considering its price point. I am very happy with it,it is beautiful with flawless wine burst finish. It's great for a kid to start on.The strings on it seem to be 8's and are very loose. Order a set of quality strings with it you will want them. I'm going to try 11's on it and adjust it after I make the hour drive for a set of strings. The truss rod will need to be adjusted for best results. It arrives well packaged all wrapped up and in a gig bag. I wouldn't put it back in the gig bag without its factory wrapping, the bag is mostly for shipping in my opinion. You may want to order a decent bag with it as well. For intonation the spring on the low E needs to be deleted or cut in half other than that it tuned up well. All of the ugly wording on the back of the headstock is on easily removed stickers. It comes with a few picks a cord and strap as well.
I intend to swap the pickup with a TV jones and was going to add a Bigsby but there is not enough real estate for the Bigsby so I guess I'll go with a stetsbar. The machine heads seem ok but it's hard to tell with the original strings I'll probably swap them out as well. I'm trying to build an arm chair tone machine out of mine.

Neck is really wide and clumsy. Unfinished feel on neck, needs lacquering. Cheap strings on guitar to the point of not usable.

I wanted a short scale guitar to play with and read that this model has a regular sized nut. I couldn't be more pleased. Lowered the strings a bit and set intonation and it plays like a dream. Neck is perfect; Beautiful finish (red.)

For the money (got it on sale) it's pretty good. Know what you're getting into and you'll be fine. I'm planning on swapping out the pick up and maybe upgrading the nut and saddles. I'll be using it as a travel guitar for jamming over friends' houses. Came with a gig bag, 2 cables, picks, and a strap, so added bonuses there.

Purchased it for practice reason during lunch break. Guitar looks really great, great finish and tone. What sucks is the quality of the frets. At the ends of the metal frets, they are really sharp and it makes it difficult to slide. I will probably need to work on these to make them smooth. Otherwise good practice guitar for the money.
