I've been playing bass for at least 10-15 years and I wanted to try fretless on an inexpensive bass. I tried out the new Fender Squire Jazz but I didn't care for the Ebanol fingerboard.
I got my Rogue from a Berklee student and he may have had it set up, because the action & playability are great.
I don't know if they changed anything because some of the reviews on here state that the fingerboard isn't wood and mine has a dark rosewood that sounds nice & warm.
I use roundwounds on it & just use a bit more volume so I don't need to play agressivly and kill the fretboard.
The P/J pickups leave you a good amount of options for tone. For that 'mmwaah' Jaco turn the top knob to about 1/2 and it really brings a nice growly buzz out of the fretboard.
The hardware (esp. the input jack) is surprisingly sturdy. Overall I'm surprised at the quality for the price. I've gigged with this bass & it didn't go out of tune even when I retuned it to 'Eb' for half a set and then pulled it back up to 'E' for the rest of the set.
The upper cutaway doesnt really allow good access to the upper registers as well as it could and there are no cheat lines. I don't need the lines and actually prefer not having them. For a beginner they do come in handy however. But these are really the only things that I could list as cons.
Overall, it's a great value for the money. I would recommend it to anyone who wants an affordable fretless.

I will have to admit I was a bit apprehensive about buying the Bass because of a few of the reviews I have read about Rogue Equipment in the past was not all that favorable however I went ahead and pulled the trigger and bought the Pearl Black model thinking that if it was a piece of crap I would just send it back and get another brand.
Well it has been two months now and I still have the Bass and I will say I am Highly impressed with the quality and all around good looks and how well the bass plays and sounds. I did have to raise the bridge on the e and a string a little and I did buy some fender Nylon Tape wound strings to replace the round wound that originally came on the bass; the original strings were good strings but I preferred the black tape wounds because they match the color of the Bass plus I like the tone better not to mention the tape-wounds are a lot easier on the fingerboard and the fingers than the steel round wound strings.
I have read where other owners have mentioned that the Bass comes out of tune easily however I took consideration to allow a little time for the strings to settle in and once the strings stretched it stays in tune with the exception of climate change which will make any stringed instrument come out of tune.
nevertheless I am very pleased with my purchase and would recommend the Rogue to anyone looking for a good fretless bass that will not cost a small fortune to purchase; you get a lot more bass than what you pay for! I give the Rogue 4 String fretless to thumbs Way UP!
I'm having a blast with this!

I wanted a fretless bass to try out sometime because I mostly play low tones to compliment other instruments and felt somewhat limited working with frets and thought I would try this bass out. I have to say that this bass is a blast to play. Sure, I had to raise the action and installed a set of Rotosound flatwounds and tightened up the tuners. New strings tend to mean more tuning for awhile but I believe it isn't because of the tuners, they seem to be solid. The looks of the black finish is awesome! No buzz at all thru my amp and all pots seem to work fine. Most musicians will probly look at the price and think this must be some so-called "beginners bass" but the fun factor is definitely worth the price on this bass. When and if I play my P-Bass again, I'm going to have to clean off the dust.

I bought this bass not expecting much and wasn't disappointed. It is attractive (black nylon rotosounds look great on it) and the hardware is better than expected. But the pickups on mine are very low output (I have to run my amp on 7 where i usually use 2.5 to 3 [with the round or flatwound strings]). The roundwound strings it came with scratched up the fret board instantly but the flats fixed that prob. There is a roughly sanded area on the back of the neck but its not very noticable. I must have gotten one built on a friday afternoon I guess because I cannot get the action to stay set. It always wants to buzz on the low E after an hour or so. Still all in all its worth the price. Fretless is FUN!
