We bought this instrument for our daughter, who is a music major at university. She has taken immaculate care of it, yet it has been back to Fox 3 times now for major cracks in the first (mouthpiece end) section. I give due credit to Fox for repairing it without charging us, but their only suggestion to avoid a repeat was to buy a plastic first section. They claim that moisture from the breath of the player contributes to cracking in that section and is more likely with more use. They said it was unavoidable. Otherwise, it is a professional quality and sound instrument.
