I'm making a living in a top 40 band. I've been playing guitar for 40 years. I've played dozens of different brands of strings. I recently switched back to Ernie Balls from DR's. I liked the DR's except that they were expensive and prone to breaking. I also wanted to go lighter, from 10's to 9's and so I elected to try the Ernie Balls again. I've always liked Ernie Balls. Seems I'm always coming back to them. Anyways, been a couple months now on one pack and with about 400 hours of playing on them they still feel and sound good. I expect to put another 400 hours on them. I might even try 8's next time. I like these strings, but the DR's are smoother, and so easier to bend and do vibratos, but who needs strings that break on stage? Not me!

AWESOME STRINGS!!!

Comments about Ernie Ball 2222 Nickel Hybrid Slinky Electric Guitar Strings:

I recently bought these strings to replace the horrid stock strings that came with my Jackson RR3 Rhoads since they were floppy and sounded terrible with my EMG pickups. when i installed these strings i was expecting them to slightly improve my sound but they ended up completely overhauling it. These Strings are FANTASTIC the lower strings are thicker which allows for rhythm and the higher strings are lighter to allow for soloing. these are also great for drop tunings because they retain tension and don't get floppy. If you are looking for strings that aren't to heavy or too light then pick these up because you will not be disappointed.

Best strings I've used

Comments about Ernie Ball 2222 Nickel Hybrid Slinky Electric Guitar Strings:

These strings are the best that I have used. I tune down to drop C (CGCFAD) and they do a great job. When tuning down they don't get floppy and bending can be done with such ease. If you're looking for a set of strings for drop tuning I really recommend these.

The Perfect Electric Guitar Strings

By Casey Wood

from Earth

Comments about Ernie Ball 2222 Nickel Hybrid Slinky Electric Guitar Strings:

Obviously, Sound and Playabilty are completely subjective pursuits. Yet, these strings offer the perfect combination of playability and powerful sound. As with all Ernie Ball strings, they will wear out in a relatively speedy manner. However, they will last for a minimum of 3-5 shows, depending on set-time. Any self respecting musician would be wise to at least give them a try, as they are the best electric guitar strings that I have yet come across. Trust me, you will not be disappointed.

Comments about Ernie Ball 2222 Nickel Hybrid Slinky Electric Guitar Strings:

I've been play guitar for quite a while now, and I have tried a good amount of stings. While other's I've tried have snapped or were difficult to bend. Then I got a tip from my one friend on these stings, been using them ever since. As far as sound they are also great. I give them a 2 thums up.

Comments about Ernie Ball 2222 Nickel Hybrid Slinky Electric Guitar Strings:

These strings are perfect. I used to use the D'Darrio strings but I found that the E, A, D were to light and couldn't play with much power. These strings bring out the POWER in power chords while at the same time are perfect for shredding and allow you to make the best bends and vibratos possible.

Comments about Ernie Ball 2222 Nickel Hybrid Slinky Electric Guitar Strings:

When I first started playing, my go-to strings were the regular slinky 10s which did me well in every area except that if I got careless with bending, I'd have strings breaks at the bridge. Huge problem when playing gigs and having breaks in the middle of sets.

I then realized I COULD change my playing style to accommodate the gauge of string though at some time, went to my local shop and saw these and said, "Well, why not?" I have never looked back since. The absolute BEST strings are manufactured by Ernie Ball and I believe the hybrid set is one of the best. Works so well though if I was doing dropped tunings, I'd obviously go with something a bit heavier. In standard 440 though, just perfect.

Give them a try and I'm sure you'll be impressed! Be forewarned though: They do NOT last a long time at all and should be therefore bought in bulk ;)

    Awesome

Comments about Ernie Ball 2222 Nickel Hybrid Slinky Electric Guitar Strings:

These are great strings. After experimenting with various gauges of strings (Super Slinkys, Power Slinkys, and most of all Regular Slinkys), I settled on these strings. The first set of EB strings I tried were a set of super Slinkys (9-42). I really liked how the high end strings were easy to bend and fret and made for easy lead playing. However, the low end didn't have a big enough sound for my taste. So I went to Regular Slinkys (10-46). I loved how big the low end sounded, but didn't like how the high end didn't have the same qualities of the Super Slinkys. After a few months of Regular Slinkys, I put these on my guitar. These are the best of both worlds. Nice bends on the high end, and a big, thick, booming low end. Just how I like it. Get these strings. You may never play anything else again.

Comments about Ernie Ball 2222 Nickel Hybrid Slinky Electric Guitar Strings:

I've used Ernie ball 10-46 sets for almost ten years now. A week ago, my local store was out of 10's, but they still had this eye-wretching set in the wall. I bought them, yet i was somewhat skeptic and expected less-lasting plain steels. Oh holy dog!! They make me cry of happiness!! My lead playing became quite faster almost instantly, and shredding became much easier. After 2 hours of enjoying them, my fingers weren't as tired as usual. So I logged in my PC and ordered a bunch of them. After a couple of weeks of torture, they don't sound that great (as usual with me), but they are still doing good. Plains are just as good as on my older 10 sets.I really recommend these strings for shredders (or wannabe shredders, lol). Makes playing and life a lot easier. Plus they're cheap, they're not death for the wallet. I gave a 9 in features because I would prefer them vacuum-packed, just like Gibson strings. Ocassionally, a few sets come with slighly tarnished strings.Used on Ibanez RG550 (Reissue), Fender Mex strat and a heavily modded Les Paul.

Comments about Ernie Ball 2222 Nickel Hybrid Slinky Electric Guitar Strings:

These are perfect, I use to just pick some strings out when mine were to worn to clean anymore, and these are awesome. They definitely deliver in sound, my last ernie ball strings were too light and made a weird octave-up sound near the bridge...don't ask. They sound very good on my guitar and feel perfect.

Comments about Ernie Ball 2222 Nickel Hybrid Slinky Electric Guitar Strings:

Been using Ernie Ball 8-38's, 9-42's, 10-46's for a very long time and I have found that each has their strengths.

[10-46} : 46-36-26 strings are great for driving thick rhythm.
{9-42} : 11-16 strings are great for solid melody and rhythm.
{8-38 : 8-11 strings are great for bending pedal steel licks to radical blues-rock bends.

The best the three worlds = 8-11-16-26-36-46.

From an economical stand point, the Hybrid Slinky with an .008 is a pretty affordable and fun experience. I've spent a lot of money on strings over the years and during my developmental and experimental phases I've come to enjoy this combination. The 10-46 forced me to be a better rhythm player with blue-jazz origins. The 9-42 turned me on to rock. The 8-38 taught me to create wicked country bends with speed. I feel now after 30 yrs or so of playing I've decided to take what I like from each set and make it my own.

I'll call it, "Three Of A Kind"
