I'm making a living in a top 40 band. I've been playing guitar for 40 years. I've played dozens of different brands of strings. I recently switched back to Ernie Balls from DR's. I liked the DR's except that they were expensive and prone to breaking. I also wanted to go lighter, from 10's to 9's and so I elected to try the Ernie Balls again. I've always liked Ernie Balls. Seems I'm always coming back to them. Anyways, been a couple months now on one pack and with about 400 hours of playing on them they still feel and sound good. I expect to put another 400 hours on them. I might even try 8's next time. I like these strings, but the DR's are smoother, and so easier to bend and do vibratos, but who needs strings that break on stage? Not me!

Good tone

When I used these for the first time the tone was great but g and high e broke within the first week. If your using these be careful.

Comments about Ernie Ball 2222 Nickel Hybrid Slinky Electric Guitar Strings:

Good strings for the price. The strings have a decent lifespan and give a good tone. Have had some issues with the high E unwinding at the ball end, but for the price they can't be beat.

Comments about Ernie Ball 2222 Nickel Hybrid Slinky Electric Guitar Strings:

I've tried several types of Ernie Ball strings over the past few years, and I've settled on these as my favorite. I play mainly hard rock/metal, and with these I feel like I get the perfect balance of heaviness and playability. While not quite as chunky sounding as the Power Slinky, I'm still able to get nice, crisp heavy tones out of the low strings, while still having that nice "bendability" on the higher strings. They really brighten up a guitar, and they stay in tune very well. I rarely break these strings, and they can take a pretty good beating, even from thicker picks. My only complaint is how quickly the strings begin to corrode. My hands tend to sweat when I'm playing, and with every day use, I notice signs of corrosion on the high strings within the first three weeks, although this does happen with most brands anyway. Overall, a high quality product that delivers great performance.

The Ernie Ball 2222 Nickel Hybrid Slinky Electric Guitar Strings are really great!
The 46 bottom to the top 09 is a nice combination. The strings also have better resonance than any other strings I've used.

I use these stings on all my electric guitars. They get the job done. Tone is name of the game and you won't get a better tone unless you play heavier strings

I just opened these strings today and before I even got them tuned the .09 gauge broke thats not the one that was giving me trouble but for some reason it broke all the same I'll just stick with DR and GHS from now on. I'm not using Ernie Ball anything anymore.
