Slinky electric strings that are ideal for drop tuning.

Ernie Ball Beefy Slinky Electric Strings are perfect for those who like to detune their instrument to lower tuning combinations. Metal fans worldwide have gravitated towards the Beefy Slinky set to give their guitar the optimal gauge combination for Drop D & Drop C tuning. The wound strings are made from nickel-plated, steel wire wrapped around a hex-shaped steel core wire. The plain strings are made of specially tempered, tin-plated, high-carbon steel, producing a well-balanced tone for your guitar.

These are the strings that I've dedicated to a Frankenstein Stratesque ax of mine with major pickup/pot mods, and it's an ax I don't EVEN want to hear a semblance whimper of the Strat twang with.
I've been all over the friggin' place and suffered my own ignorance and thought nickle was the same as the "Bright" D'Addarios stainless strings. Wrong.

These are it! Sure D'Addario came close with one set and GHS too, but ya gotta go with these, 'cause mind you can grab a .022 3rd wound to replace the plain 3rd g-string if you're a wound 3rd dude like me. Most stores don't carry singles in anything other than Earnie Ball.

I got lucky and my nut would receive these. But if it hadn't I'd have been off to a guitar Tech 'cause I don't have the Stew Mac file/saws to doctor a nut.

If you've never went the ".11 - .54 route before be prepared for truss rod adjustments.
On top of liking the feel and sound of a wound 3rd, I also appreciate that a wound 3rd tightens to g-note tension easier than a plain 3rd, it really does. Your ax's neck will appreciate it and you'll need less truss rod adjustment.

After a couple of years of playing guitar, i got into metal and hard rock. I wanted to start playing in Drop C like a lot of my favorite bands. So my friend recommended these. for a long time i thought these worked, but after a while of playing and getting more experience, i realized they were really unbalanced. Having a .22p G string is way to thick. At the most, maybe a .19p. and the E, A, and D strings are a little floppy for dropped tunings. Youre better off going with the Not Even Slinky set, but those strings arent balanced that well either, but they will hold up better.

Comments about Ernie Ball 2627 Nickel Beefy Slinky Drop Tuning Electric Guitar Strings:

These strings have a nice beefy sound to them and they last for quite a while from what I have experienced so far. Great product and works really well with various drop tunings. I only practice with them but they work well to produce the nice hard rock/metal sound I am looking for when I do. I would definitely recommend this product.

Comments about Ernie Ball 2627 Nickel Beefy Slinky Drop Tuning Electric Guitar Strings:

Have been on a medium-gauge string bender and these baby bubbies were an ear-pleasing discovery.

Their tone; in E standard tuning on an Epi LP-100; is very similar to that of GHS GB-LOW Boomers strings (rich and bronze-like). Lacking the thicker core on the wound strings, though, the tension is shared more with the plain steel strings.

The result of that shared tension is the 0.011" thick 1st string doesn't feel wimpy and, when drop-tuning, the 0.054" 6th string doesn't feel flubby. Drop tuning's not my bag, but for those who do such things, it's nice to know you won't have five tight strings and a rubber band.

The 0.022" 3rd string doesn't feel too thick in real life, either.

If the wound strings were thicker cored, I think they would have sounded even better (and they sound darned excellent after a few days of use) and definitely would've felt better, but these are excellent strings.

Comments about Ernie Ball 2627 Nickel Beefy Slinky Drop Tuning Electric Guitar Strings:

I love the tone of 12s but the more bendable 11s and these strings are a perfect compromise. I'm not a dropped "Z" metal guy. I play everything from Blues, Funk, Oldies, Rockabilly, R&B to Classic and Modern Rock. The heavier the strings, the better the tone. If you can handle heavier strings in standard tuning you will get a great sound. You may not be able to "Shred" on heavy strings but who needs another shredder? These strings have the advantage of feeling "slinkier" than other strings of the same guage! They rock! A few other reviewers describe issues that have everything to do with the particular setup of their guitars and obvious lack of experience, nothing to do with these strings.

I've been using Ernie Ball strings for years but this is the first set of Beefys I've gotten. They work great for lowered tunings like drop B. I'm probably gonna get some Not Even Slinkys to use for drop A though.

I have tried almost every other gauge and brand of strings out there. I have finally found the perfect set. The 54 for the 6th string is the perfect tension for me. I play really hard and it has just the right amount of tension so that I can hit it really hard and it wont go out of tune. The 11, 15, and 22 are great for bending and lead work. They're just so light and slinky. And the tone of these strings... Clean, clear, amazing tone! They are a winner in my book!

These strings are perfect for drop-c tuning (CGCFAD). They are the perfect amount of tension and the strings seem to hold their tuning well.
