Fun Change to an Old Bass

By Collin Hornbaker

from Indiana

Comments about D'Addario EXL280 XL Piccolo Bass Regular/Long String Set:

I originally stuck these on my G&L L2000 for a few days and then moved them to my old entry level Ibanez, which was my original intent. The light gauges give a much higher and brighter sound that pairs well when doing some dueling bass. Run these through a distortion or metal pedal and they will scream louder than any bass you've heard and then cut th pedal and bring it back low like we all like it. Provides wild versatility to any bass that you do not play much. Obviously, with the light gauges you lose a good deal of low end, however for me they are just a change from normal for a bit on an intstrument that I didn't use as much as my others. Overall, they are definitely worth the price for their enjoyment.
Super light gauges for a higher and brighter sound.
You get the same quality that you would generally expect from D'Addario. I have been bending on these for a few weeks and still am getting great new string sound.
For as cheap as these are, its hard to complain about the value considering they give your bass such a different sound.

Comments about D'Addario EXL280 XL Piccolo Bass Regular/Long String Set:

It is fun to mess around with these strings, especially if you like playing more melodic music. Putting them on a 34 inch scale bass, however, makes these strings especial stiff. Most bass strings have some range for bending, so it is a bit bizarre for them to be this taunt. Not unplayable, just stiff. I would recommend you slap these onto a shorter scale bass for better feel and sound.
