OVERVIEW

Rich tone and great sustain!

Gauges 12-15-24-32-42-52.

Pure Blues electric guitar strings are designed by DR Strings with pure nickel wrap wire, roundwound upon round cores. While this is a slow, expensive method of string making, it does produce a guitar string acclaimed for increased sustain, vintage tone, and great low tones for playing music from rhythm to lead. The extra step of winding pure nickel around a round core gives Pure Blues strings a punch that players say they are surprised to get in a vintage string. Sounds great on any guitar!

The Vintage Tone Your Vintage Pups Deserve

By ToneFreak

Comments about DR Strings PHR12 Pure Blues Nickel Extra Heavy Electric Guitar Strings:

If your guitar sports quality single coil pups with the vintage staggered pole design, and you are looking for that vintage tone that's just out of reach, try this set. Ever notice how that plain steel G is jumping out in an unpleasant fashion ? Well, that staggered pole design was meant to increase the balance of your strings back when 3rd wound sets were the norm. And when pure nickel strings were the norm.DR hits a homer with this set. Check 'em out.

Comments about DR Strings PHR12 Pure Blues Nickel Extra Heavy Electric Guitar Strings:

There is definitely something to this pure nickel wrap bidness. These strings produce a complex, nuanced tone through the Cleartone pickups on my Supro Westbury, that I far prefer to that produced by otherwise similar nickel plated wrap strings on this guitar. Plus, the price is very reasonable, particularly in light of the free shipping.

On my vintage-style parlor guitar (acoustic), these are terrific. Nice old-time sound. Drawback is, you have to change them frequently.

Comments about DR Strings PHR12 Pure Blues Nickel Extra Heavy Electric Guitar Strings:

so, I have taken up Jazz Guitar(I am mainly a bass player but do play guitar). Found a great deal on a jazz box, did a little work on it, now the strings; the real "jazz guys" use flatwounds usually. Back in the day (when I first started playing guitar) I used flatwounds and I never really liked them went to round wounds and I was happy. So, as I started this project I bought several different types of strings, mostly nickel plated. They were OK but not close to the "flatwound" sound (of course not they are round wound) even tried half round (I really did no like these) so I read that the pure nickel were pretty mellow. Well, they were but not that dead sound of flatwounds. I have used DR strings on my bass for several years after trying many different brands both stainless and nickel plated and the Low Rider Nickel are my favorite, period (I haven't tried the Pure Blues for bass yet ). So, being a DR fan I tried and liked the Pure nickel electric strings. They do squeak a bit but I really like the sound and, of course, the feel. Give them a try. MF got them right out to me at a very good price. More happiness!

Great blues strings. Nice nickel tone. This gauge also makes a nice lap steel set.

Comments about DR Strings PHR12 Pure Blues Nickel Extra Heavy Electric Guitar Strings:

Perhaps these strings would have worked out better for me if I would have read the special instructions in how to put them on. I really loved the tone of the strings, but I would caution anyone to take time and read the instructions on the pack so you won't run into the problems I had with balance and intonation.
