First off I would like to say this is a great idea DW. If you?re going to make a piece of crap pedal don?t put the DW name on it. Put the Pacific name on it, this pedal SUCKS, I know I know its the entry level pedal but first off there is NO WAY to adjust the beaters to make them closer to the head which there fore slows you downSecond, when you?re playing fast the beaters hit your feet/ankles and leave bruises! And third the left beater lags so much that it is impossible to get a steady beat goingThanks for your time and I hope this review helped someone out.

Double KICK!

By Nathanael Dean

This pedal is super easy to put together. I'd say it would take about 10 maybe 15 minutes max. It takes a little while to master though. It took me about a year to get pretty good at it. And now I ROCK at it. I really like to play death metal with this thing. It is a blast. But all I'm saying is that it might take a little while to get your legs built up to that level to be able to play really fast stuff. The only thing I really hate about it is, the velcroe doesn't stick to the carpet to well. So every once in a while, between beats, you'll have to take your hand and move the left pedal back towards you some.

Great Double Bass Pedal

By Anonymous

from Undisclosed

I have this pedal for around 1 to 2 months now and is great! I decided that I could be a better drummer if I learned double bass so I bought this pedal. Once I set it up and got it all adjusted just right I began to learn how to play it. If you keep practicing you can go really fast. this is a great pedal for anyone who wants to learn how to play double bass!

Great deal!

I've tried a couple pedals, and for the price and quality, the DW 4002 pedal seems to be the best. I can play faster with this pedal than with a Mapex, Pearl, or Tama pedal. It's a great price for the average drummers budget. Even though it is a single chain drive, it is still very durable. It is a smooth and very quiet pedal. With a double-sided beater, you can play with more "click" with the rubber side or more "thump" with the felt side. For what I have tried, it seems that a round beater is quieter than the DW double sided beater. Overall, this product is well worth the cost, friendly on budget, and meets the standards of a beginner to intermediate drummer's needs.

Fair priced quality pedals

I have a couple of kits with these pedals hooked to them. I've been using this particular model of DW's for a little over 3 years now. I bought them because I liked the price, and I've found DW pedals to be reliable. I think Iron Cobras are a little bit better quality, but for the price, these can do pretty much everything the Cobras can.

terrible pedal

By BuryMyEnemies drummer

from Racine, Wi

I've been using this pedal for about 5 years now and I hate using it everytime. To start, everytime I use it the screw on the left pedal holding it to the bar that turns the beater loosens, and then after it loosens the pedal hits the medal before the beater hits the drum head, and this is extremely annoying. I play in a heavy medal/hardcore band and I use the bass drum a lot in my songs, and it is extremely unresponive and this makes it uncomfortable and hard to play with. If your not looking to use the left pedal alot and you just need it for every once in a while, this is a good choice, because of the value, but if your a heavy metal drummer definately spend the extra money and get the 5000 series, which I've used at a show one time and it was much better than the 4000 series.

It is a great hardware for starters to get used to the method of going on using the double bass pedal. Great for beginners and advanced drummers!

You get what you pay for in this pedal, nothing special, but good for learners, but if your looking for a quick double pedal fix, go with a cheaper pedal like the pacific pedal.

This pedal is an alright pedal if you're beginning to learn double bass. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone above an intermediate level.

It's OK only!!!

By GNR Fan

from Somewhere in the Caribbean

I got this pedal for less than on here at some other store...Point is, the beaters man...They hit my foot and my shin all the time, the angle's just too big...But it sounds amazing, that's the one good thing about it is that it sounds amazing with the beater facing either way. I would recommend this for a beginner at double bass like I was when I got this, but if you're experienced, you'll definitely want a better one, get a 7000 or 5000...Maybe some Tama or Pearl pedals are better as well...

DW mistake

By tom trixon

from Atl

This pedal does not seem to have been well thought out. It ships with the left pedal so close to the footplate that it bottoms out and gives you an irritating metallic click every time you use your left foot. This can be corrected by shortening the chain drive, but one shouldn't have had to resort to that type of adjustment on a brand new pedal. It also shipped with two bent, and therefore unadjustable, spring screws. There is no provision for beater angles to be adjusted and the only setting leaves the idle beater pointing directly back at your leg. Unless you keep foot pressure on both pedals, the beaters returning from a solid bd strike will slap your shins. I was able to correct this by removing the upper spring attachment parts from a broken double pedal (which had 3 holes for attaching the upper spring) and replacing the stock ones. This enabled me to adjust the beater angle - slightly - but that option isn't available to someone who doesn't have old equipment lying around. On the plus side, the pedal seems sturdy. Overall, I would say spend more money and get a good pedal rather than trying to go cheap and being disappointed.

EH... I GUESS ITS OKAY

By Anonymous

from Undisclosed

I got this and tightened everything up and after about 12 songs it all fell apart, everything from the springs to the lugs on the left side of the connection bar. I had to put some loc-tite on the lugs and that worked well, and within 3 days THE SPRING ON THE RIGHT PEDAL SNAPPED, AND I HAD IT LOOSE. I AM SENDING THIS BACK AND NEVER TOUCHING IT AGAIN.

Good for begginers most likely. I've had mine for a while and it works good, but the feel changes sometimes and i ajust it alot, which is a pain. My left pedal has started to squeek for an unknown reason. The beater always hits my shin when at rest or from the rebound after i hit. Overall ok pedal, but there are better ones, both from DW and other brands

Good For a While

By Anonymous

from Undisclosed

I've had this pedal for a couple years and it's been great! No problems at all and came at a good price. Only real "problem" is that despite my adjustments I've made I just can't get it to be smooth enough. I've been able to play much faster on other pedals. Good pedal but like all lower end things I just need to upgrade.

i bought this pedal a year ago and it was great. after awhile the left pedal hits the metal. you can solve this problem by filing the metal down. i still use it and it has helped improve my pedal alot.

I bought these things about a year ago and they've held up great. They play pretty smoothly and are well worth the money. If you are on a tight budget for double bass, these are worth the money.
