As non high end as the 5000 series hardware sounds, these stands are actually as heavy duty as the 9000 series, the one difference is in the tilter, which honestly is more durable than the 9000 series. I played on the 9000 series hardware and the plastic handles have broken again and again on me all the time. Amd after a while they begin to loose grip anc come loose. DONT BE FOOLED, youre better off spending your money on these stands than the 9000 series.

Received defective stands, in that I could not pull the black cymbal tilter handle out and swing it out of the way of the bottom of my cymbals after adjusting and tightening it. The setscrew holding the handle in appeared to be screwed in too far to allow the spring-loaded handle to be pulled outward hardly at all. Surprised me from DW, but I guess every manufacturer has bad QA days. So, I just decided to exchange them for the same model stands since they get such good reviews.

I'd rather not get into too many of the gory details of what I went through with MF customer service to get these exchanged. Suffice it to say after working with two different reps, no one contacted me for 3 days after my exchange request. Also, none of the reps I worked with ever answered their phone extensions (I'd get their voicemail 100% of the time, which they never answered or returned my calls).

So, I sent in yet another email and finally a third rep who knew what she was doing got the exchange going for me.

If I had to do this over again, I'd contact DW directly for replacement parts instead of sending back these heavy stands to MF. If you buy DW products from MF, I would highly recommend you do the same if possible.

I'm not sure what's going on with MF customer service, they used to be excellent. But, this purchase and exchange was a complete disaster as far as I'm concerned. The funny part is that I was contacted by two other MF reps for feedback on my purchase (not including the one for this review). One actually asked me, "Is there anything else we can do to supplement the situation?". He's asking me? Isn't that his job as a customer representative? Some sort of in-store credit for all of this trouble would have been nice, but was never offered, nor was anything else.

The stands themselves are awesome, and I love all of their innovative features. Lousy MF customer service is the reason for the 3 star rating.

Comments about DW 5700 Heavy-Duty Straight/Boom Cymbal Stand:

This is a great cymbal stand, DW only makes quality products, but take a very close look and you will find that this is the exact cymbal stand as the PDP CB900. DW makes PDP and as you will find all they do is change the names on the products. The CB900 is PDP's top of the line stand, where the 5700 is the middle line for DW. With all this being said, it's still a great cymbal stand, but when you buy, buy the stand not the name.

Perfect solid stand for any situation

    By TJ Stiles

Comments about DW 5700 Heavy-Duty Straight/Boom Cymbal Stand:

I recently was in need of a large amount of cymbal stands for a recording session on the LUX album Seeing is Believing. These cymbal stands were extremely affordable and were more solid than many other stands ot much higher price points. They were always easy to adjust and after 15 days of setting up and tearing down the kit nevr once did i have a problem with the clamps or gaskets sticking or the metal bending. These are rock solid stands and will withstand anything you throw at em.

    DW stand Review

Comments about DW 5700 Heavy-Duty Straight/Boom Cymbal Stand:

I bought two of these and i like them and they are really sturdy and everything but if you have money for the 9000 I think it is worth the extra money to get the 9000. I have replaced the boom cymbal arm part on both of my 5000 series stands with 9000 series booms because they are so much better with the toothles tilter and the black plastic lever thing.

    GREAT STAND!

    By Da` Arsenal

Comments about DW 5700 Heavy-Duty Straight/Boom Cymbal Stand:

This is by far the best stand I have owned thus far. It is very sturdy (even when I placed my 22" Ride as a crash) it stayed in place. The Memory Locks work great and convertable features may come in handy. If you are wanting to upgrade your old cymbal stand, but cant afford the DW 9000 series, this stand will do you just as much justice. (P.S stand is quite heavy, keep in mind if wanting to use on tour, as many of these will add up the pounds quickly)

Comments about DW 5700 Heavy-Duty Straight/Boom Cymbal Stand:

This stand is very sturdy. I use it for my ride. The only problem is that the boom is rather short. That's why I gave it an 8 in features. Otherwise it's great. You could get the 9000 or just by a bigger boom if it's a big deal for you.

Comments about DW 5700 Heavy-Duty Straight/Boom Cymbal Stand:

This stand is great. i'm a hard hitter and i need something that will last and not move or shake and this does the job! it's good for any cymbal. The fine teething and knobs on it are less painful to turn and it's a straight and boom, which makes it easier to carry around. it's good for both straight and boom! It is overall great.

Comments about DW 5700 Heavy-Duty Straight/Boom Cymbal Stand:

This stand has about all you could ask for in a stand. It is sturdy, so it can hold toms and splashes, it is durable, with thick tubing, and it looks good. Basically, it has all the qualities you would look for in a stand without an overly steep price.

Comments about DW 5700 Heavy-Duty Straight/Boom Cymbal Stand:

I am a fan of DW hardware, not through word of mouth or just for the name-sake, but the quality of their products is unmatched. Purchased 3 5700's, 3 5700L's, 2 799 dog bones, 5500td hi-hat, 5000AD3 double pedal, and the 5000 series throne. Hands down the 5000 series is the msot affordable, well built, good looking hardware on the market. No problems, Durable, DW, Functional, and did i mention it looks better than any hardware available on stage. If you buy other than DW hardware, tell me why, becasue DW has everything you need in a well rounded package.

Comments about DW 5700 Heavy-Duty Straight/Boom Cymbal Stand:

this stand is good for a crash stand but it isn't that good for a ride cymbal stand. it doesn't go low enough for the music i like, but i like the features it has and it's a realy good stand for an awesome price. i have 2 of them.

Comments about DW 5700 Heavy-Duty Straight/Boom Cymbal Stand:

This is a nice heavy-duty stand which is both well made and functional. I particularly like that the boom isn't too long. It has the reach required for a cymbal without a foot of boom sticking out the other side for a guitar player to bump into. I also appreciate the separate adjustments for rotating the boom and telescoping it. There are memory locks on the column. I have a cymbal on the top and a rack tom hung off the side on a clamp, so it holds up to quite a load. Well worth the money I paid for it.
