OVERVIEW

Combat finger grunge!

Jam on and on (and on) with the same premium electric bass guitar strings that experienced players worldwide trust to keep their incredible tone longer than any other string available.

Specially developed based on in-depth feedback from more than a thousand bass players just like you, Elixir Strings' tailor-made selection of bass strings proudly includes nickel-plated and stainless steel construction options, four-, five- and six-string sets, long and extra-long scales, and virtually every gauge range you could possibly need. All with their innovative string coating technology. And unlike other string brands, Elixir Strings coats the whole string. This protects not only the outer string surface but also the gaps between the windings where common tone-deadening gunk typically builds up in other brands’ coated and uncoated guitar strings.

Who wouldn’t love more quality playing time between the hassle and cost of string changes?

Premium by design, these electric bass guitar strings constructed with nickel-plated steel wrap wire boast a rich, rounded tone with incredible clarity and a heavy mid-range presence. Meanwhile, the ultra-thin NANOWEB Coating, redesigned specifically for bass guitars, allows a smooth, natural feel that also enhances grip and reduces finger squeak.

For a brighter bass tone, try Elixir Strings' Stainless Steel Bass Strings with NANOWEB Coating.

Of course, the kind of string you play is all a matter of personal preference. Not sure what tone is right for you? Try them out for yourself, and find your new favorite string from Elixir Strings.

I've used Elixirs exclusively for years. They originally came on an Ibanez bass I had purchased years ago, and the only good thing about the purchase was the strings and not the bass. I've since bought an American Deluxe Fender J-Bass and the Elixirs are PERFECT for this bass. The long life justifies the price tag for these! I gig regularly several times a month and I change them out MAYBE twice a year bc they last so long. To the commentor who said his broke after a few times, then you must have either played them way to hard OR you strung your bass improperly. I've never had an Elixir string break - Ever! Highly recommended!

they broke in four days

They broke (the D and G) in four days. Sure, I played them hard, bu that's friggin' ridiculous.

Comments about Elixir Nickel-Plated Steel 4-String Bass Strings with NANOWEB Coating, Long Scale, Super Light (.040-.095):

I have used Elixirs for years on both guitars and bass and love them. Tone stays for a long time, longer than other coated strings (e,g, the DRs I have used) and they are very durable for finger-style bass players like me. They are quite soft to the touch and easy to play fast. No squeaks is a plus, too. I am a fan and think they are good value for money.

I think these could be the best strings I've played. Best of the Elixers too. If your looking for bright, easy playing, with a long lasting tone these are the strings. I'm currently playing in an original blues oriented funk/rock band. Slapping took a little adjustment with these due to the lighter touch, but the sound is great.

My Ibanez originally came with medium Elixers. I've tried other brands and for me nothing could compare. I even pulled one set off after two days because I couldn't stand the difference.

I play in a Rush Tribute Band usinga Geddy Lee fender Jazz. I have found these strings easy to play, have no squeak, reduce bass click and sound full and bright. They make it easier to play Geedy's style and catch all the notes easier. Worth the money!

Heck of a set of strings

Comments about Elixir Nickel-Plated Steel 4-String Bass Strings with NANOWEB Coating, Long Scale, Super Light (.040-.095):

I signed up to be a participant in the field trial of these new strings and forgot about it. Well, yesterday I got the package in the mail and found out I was selected. I am so glad I did. I would never had bought these strings to try them. The price tag is very steep, but once I played on them it showed it was justified. The strings themselves are very smooth and soft, giving an almost flatwound feel in my opinion. They have a bright sound, but it's not obnoxious and allow for some really nice low tones. They breathed new life in a bass I thought might be dead.
