OVERVIEW

Last 3 to 5 times longer than uncoated strings.

Strum confidently with the same premium acoustic guitar strings that experienced players worldwide trust to keep their incredible tone longer than any other string available.

Unlike other string brands, Elixir Strings coats the whole string. This protects not only the outer string surface but also the gaps between the windings where common tone-deadening gunk typically builds up in other brands’ coated and uncoated guitar strings. Anti-Rust Plating on plain steel strings ensures longer tone life for the entire set.

Who wouldn’t love more quality playing time between the hassle and cost of string changes?

Engineered to endure, these acoustic strings constructed with phosphor bronze wrap wire boast a dynamic balance of rich, full-bodied tone and sparkling high-end clarity. Compared to our original POLYWEB Coating, the ultra-thin NANOWEB coating allows a more traditionally textured, “uncoated” feel.

For a slicker, gentler feel, try a set of strings with their original POLYWEB Coating. The 80/20 Bronze Acoustic Guitar Strings with POLYWEB Coating, for example, might be a good fit if you want a more robust and rounded tone. On the other end of the tone spectrum, Elixir's 80/20 Bronze Acoustic Guitar Strings with NANOWEB Coating deliver a brighter, crisper tone alongside the same traditional feel as these phosphor bronze strings.

Of course, the kind of string you play is all a matter of personal preference. Not sure what tone or feel is right for you? Try them out for yourself, and find your new favorite string from Elixir Strings. Jam on and on (and on) with the same premium electric bass guitar strings that experienced players worldwide trust to keep their incredible tone longer than any other string available.

Specially developed based on in-depth feedback from more than a thousand bass players just like you, Elixir Strings' tailor-made selection of bass strings proudly includes nickel-plated and stainless steel construction options, four-, five- and six-string sets, long and extra-long scales, and virtually every gauge range you could possibly need. All with their innovative string coating technology. And unlike other string brands, Elixir Strings coats the whole string. This protects not only the outer string surface but also the gaps between the windings where common tone-deadening gunk typically builds up in other brands’ coated and uncoated guitar strings.

Who wouldn’t love more quality playing time between the hassle and cost of string changes?

Premium by design, these electric bass guitar strings constructed with nickel-plated steel wrap wire boast a rich, rounded tone with incredible clarity and a heavy mid-range presence. Meanwhile, the ultra-thin NANOWEB Coating, redesigned specifically for bass guitars, allows a smooth, natural feel that also enhances grip and reduces finger squeak.

For a brighter bass tone, try our Stainless Steel Bass Strings with NANOWEB Coating.

Of course, the kind of string you play is all a matter of personal preference. Not sure what tone is right for you? Try them out for yourself, and find your new favorite string from Elixir Strings.

A lot of reviewers have experienced some discomfort with the factory-installed Elixir 16052 Light gauge strings on many of their guitars esp.on the treble side. My new Taylor 114ce came with Elixir 16052 Light gauge strings. The high E (.012) and B (.016) were tough on my fingers. The Elixir 16027 Custom-Light is more comfortable (.011) and (.015) without sacrificing tone or volume. I purchased a cheap set of Ernie Ball strings just to change out the E & B before investing in the higher priced Elixirs. Here's a tip: the Taylor website has a video on how to change strings-take a refresher and view it especially the part on "stretching" the strings after the install and prior to final tuning. It is very helpful and the strings will stay very close to pitch when done. BTW my Taylor GS Mini Mahogany came with Elixir 16102 Medium gauge (.013-.055) but it is very comfortable probably due to the shorter scale length. Hope that helps!

Not a big fan of these. Tried them out on several shows over a two week period. The G string broke twice during the shows. Both times the strings were just replaced the day before. After using Ernie Ball Aluminum Bronze and Gibson Masterbuilt strings without ever breaking a string during a performance, and considering that these cost over double, I won't be buying these again. On a positive note, they do sound good. In comparison I'd say they are warmer sounding than the Gibsons or Ernie Ball strings. I do like that they're made in USA.

String size just right!

By AmazinAsian

Comments about Elixir Phosphor Bronze Acoustic Guitar Strings with NANOWEB Coating, Custom Light (.011-.052):

I switched from using elixir phosphor bronze acoustic lights to phosphor bronze custom lights. I play a lot and have been experiencing some left hand fatigue even though the action on my guitars are low. I tried extra lights, but they were too delicate-I tended to overplay them with aggressive strumming. But the custom lights are just right! Noticeable less tension on strings, no more fatigue in my left hand and they sound bright and smooth in phosphor bronze. I string up my taylor 814ce (standard string length 25.5") and my T5 custom maple (short string length 24.74"). Thanks elixir!

Comments about Elixir Phosphor Bronze Acoustic Guitar Strings with NANOWEB Coating, Custom Light (.011-.052):

As a gigging guitarist/singer, I've been an Elixir strings user since I was sent a free set during their beta testing period in the early 90's. They blew me away then and they still do, more than 20 years later. The "polyweb" coated strings set new standards for tone and long life, and Elixir set the bar even higher with the release of their "nanoweb" coated strings several years ago. There's a reason Taylor ships all their new guitars with Elixir strings installed and all the other string sellers have been chasing Elixir in the coated strings marketplace. They simply play better, sound better and last longer than conventional strings.

These strings have a nice, bright tone and superb clarity & note definition for fingerstyle playing. I thought they were a bit too bright & ringy for pick-style rhythm playing though.

Comments about Elixir Phosphor Bronze Acoustic Guitar Strings with NANOWEB Coating, Custom Light (.011-.052):

I have been a huge fan and avid user of Elixir Strings for about 5 out of my 10 years as a guitar player. I have primarily used the Polywebs. I love the overall Elixir Experience. The combination of tonal longevity, durability and feel made me fall in love with playing the guitar all over again. Elixir provides a very focused set of strings pack after pack and I have never been disappointed. I decided to give the Phosphor Bronze set a try as phosphor bronze strings were what I was using when I was learning to play the guitar. I always loved the warmth of phosphor bronze and I thought, if Elixir makes great strings then their Phosphor Bronze must be awesome. I put them on my guitar and did not like what I heard at first which was too many mids coming through. However, after a month or two I grew to love them. I found that once they broke in, they were incredible and made themselves at home on my guitar. The bass notes are very focused, the treble is sweet and smooth, bright, but not overbearing. Elixir always delivers an even and equal eq across the board and the tone is always genuine, never artificial or shallow like some other brands. They are great for strumming, excellent for finger picking, tapping, popping, they work incredible for all of the alternate tunings I do. They get the job done. And the bonus is that they always sound and feel brand new for incredibly long period of time. Not to mention they look great!

Comments about Elixir Phosphor Bronze Acoustic Guitar Strings with NANOWEB Coating, Custom Light (.011-.052):

I have had nanoweb and polyweb coated bronze elixirs in the past, but I wanted to give the phosphor bronzes a try. What a difference it makes! I've been playing for two years now, normally about an hour or two every day. For me, the polyweb strings wore out within 2-3 weeks. Nanoweb bronze lasted about a month before losing its tone/coating wearing off. The phosphor bronze has lasted almost four months without going dead! I will never go back to regular strings, phosphor bronze only. Their sound is very unique and clear. Get these if you can put in the couple dollars extra over regular elixirs because they will last longer! (at least in my experience)

I've tried all the Elixir acoustic strings for my 210 Taylor. From 13's to 10's. 80/20 Bronze and Phosphor Bronze. And a whole bunch for other brands. I settled on these Elixir custom light .011-.052. To me they are better fingering and sound. Bass and treble balance. No other strings for me, this is it.

I have been using Elixir strings for several years now. I use the Custom light PB's (.011) on my Taylor 114ce and I use the Light PB's (.012) on my Taylor GS Mini Mahogany. My playing is mostly fingerpicking so these are the most comfortable for me without giving up much volume/tone. Check out the Taylor website for video on restringing if you are having trouble, it really helped me.

First time I've used these strings, was experimenting w/ different guage strings. I play acoustic fingerstyle and lights were a little too heavy, ultralights too light but these custom lights are just right. The tone on these strings is excellent, good balance and everything crisp and clear. Can't say much about the longevity yet but my overall first impression of these strings was very positive, will definitely continue to buy them.

I've been using elixers for around 2-3 years now on my Seagull Artist series. They get a wonderful defined high end. The lows aren't anything to speak of. One thing I really can't stand about them is how fragile they are. They are incredibly easy to break. The feel of them is great, I've had the bass strings on my bass for over a year and still have great tone! But I think that the fuller tone of CHEAPER strings(d'addarios etc.), not to mention the strenght of them, gives them an advantage over the Elixers even with the long life they have.

I haven't used the "custom-light" gauge yet - but love Elixir in all gauges and for electric and acoustic guitars. I have the regular lights on a Larraviee OM-03 right now. They sound great plugged in and unplugged (credit the instrument too). I just want to go a little bit lighter - so, ordered the custom lights.

Love Elixir strings period. I mostly play electrics, but also play some acoustic. I use Elixir strings on both. For acoustics, the phosphor bronze have a really nice tone on my Larraviee OM-03. Of course, tone is a mater of taste, but I think most folks are pretty happy with the way these sound.
