Comments about Gator GSRW-2U Rolling Laptop and 2-Space Rack Bag:

I guess I lucked out because the one I received has the zip down access in the back, just like the front. Musicians friend needs to update this, as they are advertising the older version. I have Mac Book Pro 17 inch thats a perfect fit for the laptop compartment, so no complaints here. Who cares about pockets, tie downs or the silly roller wheels that come with it, take all that nonesense off, it'll just make loading and unloading more of a pain. It also comes with plenty of screws, is well padded and reinforced.

Innovative but flawed design

Comments about Gator GSRW-2U Rolling Laptop and 2-Space Rack Bag:

It's an innovative idea that serves it's purpose. My only issues are there are fastener caps that get in the way of flush mounting your rack gear. It would be nice if the back unzipped the same as the front for easier access. A side pocket to store misc. items would be good and the washers that came with the rack screws are soft rubber that get completely smushed. All in all it's a decent value but could have been designed a little better.

Definitely good for the money.

Comments about Gator GSRW-2U Rolling Laptop and 2-Space Rack Bag:

Starting with the Pros: This is EXACTLY what I've been looking for. I used this today for the first time at my regular practice/recording session and saved probably 15 minutes set up and tear down on both ends. That itself is worth a lot! Another plus is that, like the last reviewer, mine has got a full zipdown flap in the back, like the front, which is so much better; the picture is old. Strangely, the manufacturer has the same old picture too. It also has a padded lid flap for the laptop which protects it and holds it in place. I have a 17" monitor laptop which fits nicely inside. I do like the wheels which is why I didn't get a model without themCons: not enough not to buy it, and I'm considering if it's worth warranty replacement, but the screw assembly for the rack was mounted badly on the right side and I nearly stripped a screw before I realized it was tilted to the left so the right screws don't go in quite straight. Also a strange design (flaw?) is that they seem to use rivets (I think) to mount the screw assembly which sit between two screw holes for a single rack mount device, so it doesn't sit perfectly flat. Could use rubber washers between the device and the frame but were not included. Also, I can't find any external pocket for cords either and the front flap has an elastic cord criss-crossed to be used for ?? holding something? I know it's a simple device but a user manual would have been helpful. It also has a shoulder strap connected to both sides just behind the front flap, but I think it would be better to have one of the hooks diagonally placed to make it easier to carry on your back if you don't use the wheels.Still, I'm keeping it!

Can't see inside to connect your gear

Comments about Gator GSRW-2U Rolling Laptop and 2-Space Rack Bag:

I was really excited about this portable studio so when I received it, it was a let down.1. I couldn't find the exterior pocket. They say there is an exterior pocket...Where? There is only the laptop pocket which you would have to be insane to carry you precious laptop in because there are no straps to secure it so it floats around in the pocket. There's this weird velcro thing that looks like a strap but it is way too short to secure my 13 in macbook plus it is in the wrong place to be a strap so I don't know what they were thinking. 2. Also, When you have your lap top on it, the flap goes all the way down to the back...this means, if your interface has connections in the back, you have to lift it up and hold it to connect your wires. This brings me to...3. You can't see in the back! The bag over the hard case has rounded corners which shadow your gear and being is so narrow, it is impossible to see without a light shining right in it. Then you have to work around the rounded corners and I have smaller hands, so if you have bigger hands forget it. it is not convenient at all.The wheels are nice but honestly, who is going to wheel their expensive gear? I wouldn't. Bumps could mess up your electronics.I am going to sell mine and get a regular flight case 2 spacer. I have a case for my laptop already so I will just bring both.
