Comments about Gibraltar SC-BF Felt Strips:

Depending on how you tune up your kick really makes these things worth it. i play a 22 thats tuned up pretty high. these are just right of center in vertical position. if your new to these then don't feel discouraged if you just spent 10 min putting your heads on to find how dead they made it sound. they work great if you tune your heads up high. And make sure your pulling them tight against your head or there worthless. i got a nice big full bonham sounding kick out of my 22" with these things. check out the "Trust Your Ears" Jeff Ocheltree drum video. he was Bonham's drum tech back in the day and he explains these things and shows you how to use them.

I use it to eliminate using pillows, blankets, sheets, etc. inside the kick drum to allow the shell to resonate.

Comments about Gibraltar SC-BF Felt Strips:

Felt strips like these came factory installed standard on my 1960's Beatles-era Ludwig set. Ludwig knew what they were about and I am glad these are still available. Mount one strip under the front bass drum head, vertically, off to one side a bit, long enough to go under the rim with a little extra hanging out at both the top and bottom, and pull the felt tight as you tighten the overall rim. They lay tight against the head on the inside and will muffle it just right.

Comments about Gibraltar SC-BF Felt Strips:

The right amount of muffling without expensive heads, pillows, tape or blankets, and these strips are priced right. Cuts much of the ring; leaves in the snap and punch. Place one strip one-third of the way up on the batter head and pull tight to the head. I do not use one on the resonant head, so I now have a spare strip or I can use it on a second bass drum. No need to use both on the same batter head. Cool retro old-school look for acrylic drums or Vistalites and I can use any head I want. No blankets or pillows to flop around, and I can muffle two bass drums for about the price of a gallon of gas.

Comments about Gibraltar SC-BF Felt Strips:

This is the least expensive way to tune your bass drum. I find that it controls the overtones well at the same time not stopping the tone altogether. I use it on the front and the back of the drum.
