The spurs are high-quality and look great when mounted however; they arrived with no installation or operation instructions. Had they been sent with even basic instructions I would have rated a "5". To compound the issue, I could find no instructions anywhere on the internet, not even on the manufacturer's site. I realize the installation is pretty straight-forward but, when I am drilling into my bass drum, simple instructions with maybe a picture or two would have been VERY helpful.
Here is what I learned...
1. Identify left and right spur and make sure each are in the down and not stored position. The large key at the top of the spur allows the spur to be adjusted down for action or back for travel/storage. IT IS IMPORTANT TO MAKE SURE THEY ARE IN DOWN POSITION TO FIT TO YOUR DRUM.
2. The bracket is roughly shaped like a hexagon and attaches to the drum in an upright position. Make sure you do not have the hexagon on it's side or you will not be able to figure out how the thing works.
3. So - with spur NOT in the stored position, and the hexagon upright and not on it's side, you can hold the spur to your drum for :eyeball fitting". The spur should be leaning towards the front of the bass drum with the adjustment keys facing straight out from the drum. At this point you will be able to identify the right and left spur.
3.Use the gasket as a template for marking your holes to drill. Although there in a large hole in the center of the template, you will only need to drill the four outside holes.
4. Using a back block - drill your four holes ( i used a 19/64 bit).
5.Now screw it in with the rubber gasket between the mount and the outside of the drums.
Not to terribly difficult but it would be much easier with some basic installation and operational instructions. Good Luck!

I found a 60 plus year old Leedy/Ludwig bass drum and wanted it to sing again. Now it is ready. Very easy to install these spurs and I would purchase this product again.

Comments about Gibraltar SC-BS4 Bass Drum Spur Pair with Bracket:
They were exactly what I was looking for as replacement spurs for my kick drum. They were heavy duty and simple to install. Exactly what I would expect from Gibraltar. And the price was right.

Comments about Gibraltar SC-BS4 Bass Drum Spur Pair with Bracket:
One of my spurs broke on an older Tama set and it was pretty expensive to get a replacement part so I ended up getting these. The holes didn't match on the drum so I had to drill new holes. It really wasn't that much work, It took about 30 min to do, I just used the rubber piece on the spurs as a guide and eyeballed it. Turned out great functionality wise but the previous spur holes/ indentation is noticeable if you look closely. So far they have held up and are actually an improvement over my old spurs.

Comments about Gibraltar SC-BS4 Bass Drum Spur Pair with Bracket:
Bought these to replace some that came on an inexpensive kit, and they've been solid for tons of gigs. Easy to install. This may be an obvious point, but doesn't hurt to mention, make sure you figure out left and right before you get started because although they might look identical at first glance, of course they're not. They lock easily into place when setting up and stay exactly where you originally adjusted the height. Really heavy duty, and a great price.
Comments about Gibraltar SC-BS4 Bass Drum Spur Pair with Bracket:
I restore drumsets and sell them, as well as play the drums myself. These are absolutely awesome!! If you need new spurs for your kick drum as I did, GET THESE. They will not disappoint you.

Comments about Gibraltar SC-BS4 Bass Drum Spur Pair with Bracket:
Good quality for the price. However, the screwss were too long and didn't tighten against my DW base drum. I had to go to a harware store to purchase correct length and washers. The original washers were built into the screws therefore would not come off. Cost me an extra 5 spot and 1 hour.

Good solid product.
Comments about Gibraltar SC-BS4 Bass Drum Spur Pair with Bracket:
Replaced some wobbly legs on my second bass and these were about the only replacement legs I could find. They work just fine.
Mounting hole pattern is in a diamond shape. I had to drill all four screws in order to mount them. Not difficult, just use the rubber gasket as a template. Just a heads up to other potential buyers with older Mapex's.

Comments about Gibraltar SC-BS4 Bass Drum Spur Pair with Bracket:
If you get lucky, some of the mounting holes will line up to previous mounting holes, and drilling new holes might not even be required. I had both legs mounted in under an hour, and I was working carefully and slow as to not make any critical or stupid errors. As such, installation was easy and simple.
Out of the bag first inspection make certain that you have a leg for each side of the kick drum, because yes, LEFT and RIGHT legs are important. Read these other reviews. One writer did suggest they got a package with two left or right side legs and they had to return the package to get it right. This did not happen to me, but as always INSPECT the package before beginning and make sure you have the proper parts for the installation.
Comments about Gibraltar SC-BS4 Bass Drum Spur Pair with Bracket:
These are great looking and very functional spurs. Unfortunately I received what appears to be two spurs for the left side of the bass drum. Not sure how that happened.
Comments about Gibraltar SC-BS4 Bass Drum Spur Pair with Bracket:
I've had the same drum kit for over 7 years, with these spurs on them. I've giged regularly 2 years and every weekend in the last year and few months, and one of my spurs is not stripped so must replace, not to mention you get 2 for $40, good deal incase the other goes out, I'll have a back up. Can't beat them, I'm a pro traveling musician and I can honestly say I'll keep using and buying these spurs if they continue to go out!!
Comments about Gibraltar SC-BS4 Bass Drum Spur Pair with Bracket:
I'm extremely glad I've purchased these Gibraltar spurs. They were easy to istall, they're rugged,VERY easy to adjust and fold away and they look great!I highly recommend them for anyone looking to upgrade their spurs. And for the money you can't go wrong.Gibraltar plain makes great(and great looking) stuff!
