Comments about Gator GFW ID Series Speaker Stands With Bag (Pair):

I have purchased just about every speaker stand you can think of. I didn't need these but I purchased them because I liked the way they looked and not many people in my area have them. I was surprised how nice they are in person. The design is sleek and can hold any of my speakers from RCF to QSC. My new favorite toy!

Comments about Gator GFW ID Series Speaker Stands With Bag (Pair):

I owned a pair of Ultimate Support TS-90, and they worked great. But getting older I wanted some air a assist stands to help me lift my JBL 812P Speakers which weigh about 56 pounds each. These stands are very heavy duty, the legs can be spread out over a larger area, and they are sturdy. Now compared to my TS-90, the Gators are much heaver. The one thing I can say is the assist does not lift my speaker at all. You need to assist it, with some force. If your speakers are under 50 pounds they will go up on their own. But over all they are very compact, easy to set up and comes with a 3 year warranty.

Comments about Gator GFW ID Series Speaker Stands With Bag (Pair):

These are solid speaker stands! They are hydraulic and help raise your speakers. They are sleek looking and the future of speaker stands! Very well made and possibly the last speaker stands you'll need to buy because they don't have all the flimsy knobs that wear out and fall off over time!

I've never been excited about speaker stands until now! I ordered mine from musician's friend and highly recommend!

Comments about Gator GFW ID Series Speaker Stands With Bag (Pair):

After 47 years in the business, I became tired of hefting speakers on tall stands. Even my crank stands required some lifting while raising the speakers. The Gator GFW ID stands are INCREDIBLE! They're ultra strong and stable for my Turbosound iQ15's (57 lbs) and even my Mackie HD 1531's (100 lbs @). I laugh with glee whenever I simply lift the speaker with the air-lift assist to the desired height, and lock it off. The uneven ground leveler on each stand is extremely stable. I'll never go back to an unassisted stand again. Don't let the price scare you. They're worth every penny!! Great quality carry bag, too.

Comments about Gator GFW ID Series Speaker Stands With Bag (Pair):

HEAVY stands, clunky operation, and expensive. I travel internationally several times a year, and we transport our sound system with us (for live music, canned music, and for PA live presentation use) as checked baggage. Due to size and weight constraints, we have a very compact system (QSC K8s, Smaller Mackie Mixer, plus cables, mics, and stands). We transport it all in SKB All weather cases, and can do so without going over weight limits when flying. The compact and small design of these stands, along with Gator's normal tough construction, is what attracted me to the ID series stands. I figured these would allow us to carry our 3 boom stands, and both speaker stands in one flight bag, and still be fine weight-wise. Imagine my surprise when I pulled these stands out of the box. These are listed between 12 and 13 pounds each, but they feel more like 15+. Yes, they fold down in to a cylinder, but they are NOT compact or light. These are EASILY twice the weight (or more) of Ultimate's best stands, even those with the cylinder assist feature.

Regarding the operation of these stands... I just have to say that it is not very refined, and could even be described as clunky. With Ultimate's piston type stands, everything works very smoothly. The legs are easy to open and adjust, and the height adjustment is very user friendly. Trying to open the legs on the ID stand from the closed position is awkward, at best. Because of the stand's weight, it's difficult to lift it with one hand while trying to open it with the other (and I'm not a tiny guy). Then, the cylinder portion is rather strange, as well. Don't have room here to adequately describe it, but these are just not as "portable" as Gator would lead you to believe. Twice the weight of other stands, and a lot more money. Skip these stands, and get a good set of Ultimate stands. You'll be glad you did.
