OVERVIEW

(Open Box) Heavenly feel; wickedly fast.

The Eliminator Demon Drive bass drum pedal was engineered to create the most seamless link between the player's musical ideas and his or her execution on a bass drum. Whether seeking to deliver lightning-fast blast beats or deep, rock-solid grooves, this Pearl drum pedal offers the adjustability to maximize your playing in any style.

Play a Pearl Demon Drive and the first thing you'll notice is its smoothness. The Demon Drive gets its incredible smoothness and speed through the use of ultra-precise hardware components. Self-aligning spherical bearings are used to insure the footboard and the Direct link drive are always in perfect alignment. Its zero-latency Z-Link Drive Shaft's U joints, and special super-high-speed Ninja bearings on the axles all work in perfect sync to create one of the smoothest and fastest pedals on the planet.

The most unique feature of the Demon Drive drum pedal is Pearl's exclusive Duo-Deck, the world's first convertible footboard. With a simple adjustment, the Demon Drive pedal can be adjusted from a traditional shortboard to a longboard pedal in seconds, offering a slightly lighter, quicker feel that is the preferred setup when speed is a necessity.

This bass pedal includes the world's first two-position Beater Stroke Adjustment and two-position Direct Link Adjustment. Both allow the player to create a slightly lighter or heavier feel of the pedal depending on their preferred setting. Adjusting the Duo-Deck in combination with the Beater Holder and Direct Link Adjustments yields 8 possible pedal configurations, allowing the player to truly create their ideal feel.

The Click Lock spring tension system prevents the tension knob from loosening. The Traction Plate, which has aluminum traction dots, is fully adjustable for the amount of slip or grip you want . Its footboard height-adjustment capability enables you to loosen and rotate the footboard to the desired height. And finally, the Pearl pedal comes standard with a Carrying Case to protect it from the wear and tear of travel.

Note: Slave pedal may need stabilization with the PS-85 Pedal Stabilizer.

Great: Speed, Durability, Quick Change, Workmanship,
Easy Set up and breakdown, Very Nice carrying case, Great looks!

If I had to find fault in it, it would be the carrying case.
It is a very good case But, at the price I think a little nicer Hard Case would be better!
and the beaters are very good but not the top of line beaters.
For being the top of the line, I believe it should have come with the top of the line betters also with Hard case.

Returned Demon Drive Double pedals (replaced with superior and fast TRICK Bigfoot pedals) after 1 mth - no longer usable as the beater & clamp assembly kept on slipping no matter how tight I would tighten the beater adjustment clamp. IMO there is an engineering issue that requires immediate attention with the beater stroke adjustment clamp. As soon as you start tinkering with it and making adjustments the aluminum casted clamp starts wearing and slipping along the shaft Positives: direct drive, super smooth & fast, no slave sloppiness or play, long board (not a true 12? long board as it short by 1?) Negatives: hype that does not deliver, pricey and low value IMO, overall adjustments painful, beater too soft, at first it looked really sweet and glitzy but even after a month it looked beat up and cheap looking, never had true confidence in pedal overall performance. No comments from Pearl.

Comments about Pearl Eliminator Demon Drive Double Pedal:

These pedals are perfect for any situation. Personally I play Djent, speed metal, and Metalcore on my own time, but I play professionally in a hardcore band, HerEcho. I've been using axis pedals for almost three years now, and where they were ok for my own personal use, I could never get a feel from them that i liked when playing with band I tour with and could never keep a consistent setup with them. However I recently purchased these pedals and was blown away. In a matter of minutes of unbloxing these bad boys (and converting them to long boards) I was able to find the perfect setup that not only felt smoother and faster than my Axis pedals, but also felt perfect for any genre of music I felt like playing. I will never regret buying these pedals and I would recommend them over any other pedals. I've owned iron cobras and dw5000 as well and these encompass everything good about all the pedals I've ever played plus more. All around the perfect pedal in any situation.

Comments about Pearl Eliminator Demon Drive Double Pedal:

I purchased this shortly after it became available and it has become my best friend! The different setups and adjustments helped to find the perfect position for my style.
I needed something with a long board large enough for my feet(13EEE) and with these I am able to do heel toe technique almost effortlessly. I couldn't believe how fast and responsive it is compared to my old chain drive pedal. I've played several other top end pedals since and these still have the best feel and response for me.
The best thing about this pedal is as my style and technique changes and improves, the setup changes with it. I started at loose tension with lighter feel settings and as my speed and power increase I simply adjust the positions to compensate. This makes it a pedal that grows with you!
The only negatives are some people have had issues with parts loosening. Luckily this hasn't been a problem I've encountered. The beaters are way too quiet for my taste so if you like loud and punchy plan on buying different ones. Also, the case is cloth. It still has rigid sides and a little extra storage but, I see it wearing out or being crushed under heavy equipment.
Always try several pedals out before you choose one as it is an expensive commitment. For me, I'll only own the Demon Drive!

Well, I gave in to the hype and bought these. I tried them out for about a month and I was not at all impressed. The Pearl P-2002C pedals slay these in every way. They have way more control, way more power, and they are faster. The only time Id say go with demon drives is if you are insanely good at heel toe technique and need a pedal for that. Other than that, save your money and go with the P-2002C

        Learning Curve

Comments about Pearl Eliminator Demon Drive Double Pedal:

I have played many pedals in my years of playing. This pedal has tons of features and I loved the feel of the shortboards, but converting it to longboard is amazing. There is a bit of learning curve to these as well, especially if your used to chain drive pedals. It is also different than other direct drive pedals as well. But no two different brands are the same just as no two people are the same. But all in all after you have adjusted and set it up for you and, its a speed machine with liquid playing ability worthy of anyone who takes the time to learn how to use it.

I've owned this pedal a little over a year now and I'm still blown away by it. Once you own and play this pedal, you'll never look back. Took me about 3 hours to adjust everything to my liking. Once that was done, it was all pure bliss from there. My opinion...This pedal has no equal. It's that good. The only thing I didn't like about them was the felt beaters that came with it. I put my old Tama Iron Cobra beaters on and it just flies. Trust me there is nothing like it!

          Awesome Pedal

          By Matthew Smith

          from Chicago

Comments about Pearl Eliminator Demon Drive Double Pedal:

This pedal was a great purchase. The features are amazing, my favorite being "feel" settings that rely on physically moving a part to a different location and using physics and commmon sense instead of relying on tension adjustment to get the perfect setting. I was able to set this pedal up to my ideal setting in less than 30 minutes. The ability to go from shortboard to long board is awesome and gives a lot of flexibility to mess around, try different things, and have fun. I am not a fan of the beaters and will probably upgrade to SLUGS soon. None of the adjustments are on the fly so its important to take time to know what you want, but that wasnt a negative factor and I have no worries about my setting changing in the middle of a set. Overall this pedal is fantastic.
This pedal is rediculously smooth compared to my last. The dual rotating Z-Link shaft is an amazing innovation as is the direct link from the pedal to the CAM. No chains wrapping around gears here. The slave pedal has almost zero lag. The ability to switch it from a short to a long board depending on style is great. The extra leverage of a longboard is super fun without having to commit to getting a stictly longboard pedal. The "feel" settings are actually designed into the pedal. Instead of adjusting tension here and there to go for a heavier or lighter feel and playing guess and check for four hours you actually move the beater clamshell towards or away form the head depending on what you want. Same with the direct link. THIS spot has more leverage (lighter) THIS spot has less (heavier). Everything is independent of eachother so you can adjust the beater position without changing the footboard hight and vice-versa. Finally, the bearings that connect the Direct link and the cam shaft are somehow always magically aligned. Overall the best pedal I audituoned, which is why I bought it!
The finish started showing scratches from the drum key pretty quickly. I am not afraid of damaging the actul aluminum, though. This thing is built like a truck. Sometimes trucks get a few light marks. The only concern I have is the locks on the spring tension adjuster. I feel if anything is going to fall off its going to be those, but it will probably be when I'm fiddling with the pedal so no worries. Also it came with a great case so everthing will be contained. Also not a huge fan of the beaters. They do what they are supposed to theres almost no vibration to them, but they are super lightweight and don't hit very hard. Need an upgrade...
FULL DISCLOSURE: None of the adjustments are on the fly. a lot of stuff has to come apart and be moved. you cant flip a switch to longboard it or anything like that. But it prevents the pedal from slipping out of its setting.
Overall the pedal is a great value. It's definitely very expensive but I found it to be worth every cent. The features are beyond almost any other pedal on the market. It comes with a sturdy case and backup tools. The only thing I was not a fan of were the beaters, and that's a quick fix.

          A Contradiction of its Self

          By nomelody

          from California

          See all my reviews

Comments about Pearl Eliminator Demon Drive Double Pedal:

There is really a contradiction with this pedal. The pedal seems like it should be something special, yet it just feels average. In the end feel and playability is most important. If the pedal doesn't feel good who cares how well its made. For me personally I just couldn't jive with this Pearl Demon Drive.Since feel is completely subjective I have tried to keep most of the review focused on attributes that are more objective.Overall this is an ultra smooth high end pedal and I think many drummers will love it. It is like a cross/compromise between a chain drive and direct drive. I have no way of knowing this but I bet that was one of the design goals. I feel it is more of a chain drive feel but without that slack on the return. The feel leans toward light rather than heavy.Build Quality/Construction:These pedals are of high quality construction materials and workmanship. Tolerances are tight. No slack/poor tolerance in the mechanism of the slave pedal or primary and other components. No noise whatsoever as the pedal operates. Slave felt almost the same as the primary. Overall it is a cast metal. Some of the components are solid metal machined and not cast. As a comparison the Axis is machined from the beginning and no casting. For the purpose of a drum pedal both processes are fine, it's just a different way to get to a finished product. The cast product will be less expensive when mass produced. There are many great features adjustment wise. A player should be able to find their sweet spot on this pedal. It's clear they really worked hard to reduce friction on this design and it shows. Just allowing the beaters to swing back and forth with no foot shows this. It just goes and goes like a pendulum.I do feel some of the features don't add much to the actual functionality. The orange colored anodized grip dots are totally ineffective. If they were rubber they would be effective (available as a Pearl option but should come with a pedal at this price). Ninja bearings are smooth but so what. Any bearings on a kick pedal should be. Many different types of bearings provide quality with the Ninja being nothing special, its marketing.Important Note about Longboard conversion:The shortboard to longboard option is really just another adjustment rather than a true option to have a shortboard or longboard. It certainty gives another feel to the pedal and adds another dimension to this pedals adjustable nature. But it is not a true longboard. A longboard has the pivot point below the pedal and subsequently below the heel. That's the whole point. This merely elongates the pedal and reduces the heel rest size. It places the pivot point behind your heel with just a little heel rest sticking out the back. Again a true longboard has nothing behind the heel and it pivots under the heel. This really isn't a long board, its an adjustment option. If your in the market for new pedals these are nice and will satisfy many players. If you have pedals and your just looking to upgrade (but don't really need to) you may want to consider staying with your current setup.Pros:Tight tolerancesHigh end workmanshipLots of adjustmentsQuietLow resistance of components during movementCons:Longboard option is not a true longboardTraction dots as included are worthlessValueDoesn't feel/play special (my personal take)

Comments about Pearl Eliminator Demon Drive Double Pedal:

Ok ive been drumming for a couple if years. Started out with rock and quickly moved on to metal. But double bass was a pipedream for me because i had next to no money playing on cb700 set with shredded cymbals. Finally decided to bite the bullet and put these on layaway at a local music store. When i finally paid them off i realized these were well worth the wait and the money. Amazing feel: smooth as can be and no delay with the reaction. It hits exactly when it should unlike most pedals ive seen since i started with this pedal. Within a month i could play almost anything and i owe it to this amazing pedal. everyone complments on the timing and clarity of the bass hits. The only negative aspect i can find is that i need to.get stronger springs, though thats because unlike many drummers, i play with straight legs for power, no ankle tricks. If you are considering these pedals, even weary about the price, BUY THEM. I cannot stress enough how absolutely beautiful these pedals are.

This peddle is a terrible buy, the metal these are made out is not strong at all, they are not gig worthy, toured with them, and had to fix and tighten them after each show, im going back to my iron cobras, these seem to be a joke, they feel terrible, and the beaters have the worst attack ever. ive replaced to separate parts in less then half a year. what a waste of 650$.

This pedal is great! Nice and smooth! However the price tag is unnecessarily high. For what you get, it seems too overpriced. Sure it's a great pedal, but I'm not willing to pay this much for one. I use the pedals at practices and gigs but only because our vocalist is a hobbyist drummer and bought them for his person drum set on Black Friday for cheaper.

I seen one of these at a gig I was playing at. I asked the drummer that owned it if I could mess with it for a little. Lets just say I feel in love and I'm not the drummer for my band. So incredibly smooth, and it is what you play. So if your a great drummer and your never off, it'll let you know. If you suck at drums, it'll let you know. It had the stock beaters on it, which I didn't care too much about, but they weren't bad either. I would say its worth every penny. I didn't find anything bad about it, but I only played with it 5 maybe 10 minutes. So if your thinking on getting it, I would say get it.

Comments about Pearl Eliminator Demon Drive Double Pedal:

The Demon drive is an over all nice but can be better. Just like the Trick an Axis, the beater of the main petal should be centered with the bass drum head. The "long board" or foot board in genaral could be longer by an inch or an inch and a half. More traction on the foot board would be nice and or an ajustable toe stopper. Scratch the felt beaters. Make them come with the a standered wood or nylon beaters. Pearl's pedal stablelizer should come with it. And bring the price down. With that being said, it is a nice and for the most part, it works for me. It took me some time to get use to, but I am feeling more comfortable with it every day. This may not be a pedal for every one, so see your local dealer to try it out before buying it.

Comments about Pearl Eliminator Demon Drive Double Pedal:

The demon drives are very unique. though expensive, they are the best pedal ive ever used.. the direct hit is very helpful.. very sexy style... a sleak orange look. fully adjusable springs lets you customize them, they are very easy right outa the box setup. these pedals are my first, and will be my last.

Comments about Pearl Eliminator Demon Drive Double Pedal:

Been playing for 30 years and have owned DW 5000 and Yamaha direct drive flying dragon double pedals. All were very good products. I play mostly prog rock and prog metal. Bought this pedal and had it arrive just before a 3 day gig. Played it all weekend with the default settings and was very impressed. Can't tell a difference between left or right pedal and the beaters work extremely well. This pedal feels like its joined to your feet and opens the door for further development and improvement in your playing. This pedal will deliver out of the box and is an excellent investment.

Comments about Pearl Eliminator Demon Drive Double Pedal:

I purchased these pedals to replace the single PDP chain-drive pedal I was using before. Man, what a difference there is. While a chain-drive pedal has some slack in the chain, the direct-drive keeps the footboard glued to your foot - the response is incredible! One of Pearl's selling features for this pedal is that both the left and the right pedals feel exactly the same. It's absolutely true. This remains the best purchase I've made for my drum kit. I highly recommend buying it.

Comments about Pearl Eliminator Demon Drive Double Pedal:

Let me just dig right into the gravy stuff...This thing... is absolutely AMAZING. I've been playing for round about of five years, so I'm not overly experience. Let me just say, as a consumer, this is awesome. I haven't purchased it yet, but I am ASAP.This blew me out of the water. Speed isn't an issue with this thing. Stock, it's already responsive. It allowed an intermediate player like me to easily nail 16th notes at blazing speeds, while in combat boots. If you're going for speed and consistency, I would highly recommend this pedal!!
