Comments about Proline PL403 3 Tier Double X-Braced Keyboard Stand:

This stand holds my 88 key (50lbs) on 1st tier, 61 key MIDI, drum machine on 2d tier and 2 laptops, mixing board, & 37 key synth on 3d tier. Yes, the top tier will be slightly tilted; however it really doesn't bother me. I use 1"x12" plywood boards across the tiers to add width. Additionally, it keeps everything in place and I can adjust the 88 key position easily side to side and back and forth. Unless I move it, it all stays in place. The stand is sturdy. I play seated and on the lowest setting its perfect for me. At my feet I have two volume pedals, drum machine trigger, 2 sustain pedals and voice effects box, so there is room for stuff around the feet of this thing. I have everything set low, so the total height of my equipment is only 40" I can reach everything from the seated position and can see over the top. I transport this stand often. I use a silver marker to mark the settings on the 2d and 3d tiers so its easy to set it up each time. I also have the two tier and will probably buy the one tier stand as well, as sometimes I don't need all three tiers. These are excellent stands. Yes, the grips are plastic and moveable. Use wood planks on the tiers and adjust the grips accordingly and everything stays in place. Its a bad idea to place expensive keyboards directly on round metal bars anyhow so I'm not surprised other reviewer had issues.

DO NOT BUY - Poor Quality

Comments about Proline PL403 3 Tier Double X-Braced Keyboard Stand:

Whoever designed this thing is obviously clueless on keyboards as well as engineering. There is not a single piece on this thing welded the same. Since the welds are incorrect, you cannot get the 2nd or 3rd tier level. This is poor quality control. The store tried to do right by me and exchanged it for another one; thinking I had a fluke. The 2nd unit was just as bad as the 1st unit. The amount of play in the locking mechanism for the scissor base allows the scissors to slide almost a full inch. Once a heavier unit is on the base, it pushes down hard enough to stabilize it a bit, but it is still precarious. Learn from my mistake and take a look at another unit.

Comments about Proline PL403 3 Tier Double X-Braced Keyboard Stand:

I've had mine for two weeks with no problems. The one thing about this stand is that the tiers have to be evenly matched at each level on both sides. I thought mine had bad welds when I first set it up, as I had a slight difference in level at my second and third tier, but it turned out the locking mechanisms just needed very minor adjustments. My stand functions perfectly now and the saw-toothed locking mechanisms look and feel very secure. With heavy equipment, this rig can become a bit front heavy depending on how your tiers are set. Overall I'm highly satisfied with mine.
