As a beginning drummer, I am interested in different kinds of sticks. I had never heard of multi-rod sticks, so I thought I would try them.. These sticks are a thinner bundle of rods as opposed to the Thunder and Hot Rod sticks. They are definitely quieter. I like to see what kinds of playing these different rods/sticks can do.

In the praise & worship group I play in, it's always a challenge to create energy while not creating more volume than the setting can handle. I tried Cool Rods after having already used Promark's Hot Rods with some success. The Cool Rods simply did not hold up for me. The tendency for the dowells to splay out and brake off was much greater with Cool Rods. I've gone back to using brushes on the very soft stuff and continue to use Hot Rods for the moderate volume songs and have started using Lightning Rods for the somewhat louder things. But in fairness to ProMark and because I really like the other Rods, Cool Rods may be exactly what you need if you have a natural light touch.

    Just What The Congregation Ordered

Comments about PROMARK Cool Rod Specialty Drumsticks:

Playing Christian contemporary music for more than 10 years now has had its challenges - especially when I'm an advocate of acoustic drums and cymbals.Cool rods allow me to play when real playing is needed, yet not over power the rest of the band and especially the congregation. Have sat behind electronic drums and admit they are great for practice, but I still prefer my great acoustic set for the true sound and variation that cannot be duplicated electronically. Great job Pro-Mark

great sticks nice rebound and they work well

Comments about PROMARK Cool Rod Specialty Drumsticks:

i use all of this style of stick. they are really great for the venues we have where i live. they have perfect rebound and are very lively on my set. i also have used the broom sticks with great results. the only downside is the expense and after a while dowels will bust free and fall out. it makes a lighter stick, but still useful for some tunes. the thunder and lightning rods are very stout and do not bust up on the rims as the lighter ones do. all in all, i use these sticks almost exclusivly these days. i love em'.

Comments about PROMARK Cool Rod Specialty Drumsticks:

I really love these but they're SO expensive and they don't last long enough. They're versatile with a good sound even on cymbals but they break if you look at them the wrong way! What a conundrum! I recommend them but they will cost you!

I have been using the various sized Rods for years. Not only do they make it possible to play softer when sticks are too much, they also create a new sound.

We use these at our church kit. Perfect for those "quiet" moments during the service when sticks are too much and you can't play light enough.

I use these coolrods on most of the gigs i play (I mic my entire drum kit) so there is really no need for regular sticks on most tunes my band plays. these are perfect.

Comments about PROMARK Cool Rod Specialty Drumsticks:

Once you drum with them for a half hour or so, you start discovering various sounds you can create with these. Very interesting on the cymbal. They stay louder on toms and hi-hat than on snare drums. They are great for at home play as well as on small stage with acoustic instruments. Be gentle though. Don't hammer them.

This stick is probably the best quiet sounding stick you can own next to brushes or dreadlocks. They are worth the price, trust me - I have played with them and I loved the way they sounded and the way they played.

Comments about PROMARK Cool Rod Specialty Drumsticks:

These "sticks" are great. I play in a jazz combo band with them, and if I'm using normal sticks, I overpower the band so much, even playing soft. These sticks keep me in line. Although by them selves, they are a little to soft, but a little bit of decerative tape helps it out greatly. I highly recommend them. Also, you wouldn't think it, but these things have great features, experiment with them to find great little licks and things to play. The only drawback is that if you play with them too hard, they break easy. So be gentle and they will NOT let you down.
