I took it to the club and stuck it on my DW pedal and it had a great punch to it. I really liked it... then in the middle of the 31st song of the night the rubber came unglued from the blue plastic head and I had to finish the song with the beater sticking to my head the rest of the way. I went back to my DW felt beater. I'm going to use some industrial strength glue and put it back together (Like the Speed Ball company should have done with these beaters).
Speedball bass drum beater (rubber contact surface) After two minutes of use with this beater, the rubber portion of the beater fell off. I've tried different glues to reattach the rubber covering to the beater head, but it stills comes off after a few minutes of playing. This may be a good beater, but the parts don't stay together long enough for me to find out. A waste of money!
These are the most responsive beaters I have ever used. Right when I put them on, I noticed a difference. I got the plastic ones. They are amazing! I play a lot of death metal and speed runs are easier just because of these beaters. If you're a metal drummer, do yourself a favor and buy these beaters. Worth every penny.
I have been using a set of felt Speedballs for well over a year now. They are very durable and ultra light weight. I gave them a 9 overall only because I think they are a little overpriced, but hey, what isn't.
