I stumbled upon these online while doing a search for stage lighting ideas and thought it was a great solution for small stages and limited space. Although I was a little skeptical after reading some negative reviews about their stability, I decided to give them a try. I purchased a pair of them and right out of the box, i was pleasantly surprised with the quality construction.

Because these attach to the speaker stands with a tension bolt, I also purchased an affordable pair of steel, speaker stands to mount them on in order to spare my existing aluminum stands. I was happy to find that the extension fit nice and snug on the speaker pole even before tightening the bolt. A slight turn of the tension bolt and these things are rock solid.

I have two different speakers I plan to use on these stands: a pair of Peavey PVX12's and a pair of DM112's. Both fit the stand extension like a comfy glove. I was even able to access and tighten the tension bolt on the rear of the DM112 for total stability.

Although I thought this was a clever design, I wondered if they would be more stable and secure if the top part of the extension rested on top of the speaker. However, I was again very satisfied with the solid fit and stability even without them resting on the speaker itself.

Now, I had no intention of using the included T-bar since I have a pair of Chauvet 4Bar Flex that I plan to use with the extensions. Since the speakers obstruct the lights from hanging downward, the only option is to invert the 4Bar, which works great and attaches to the top pole mount very securely.

The extensions say they can support up to 44 pounds, and although I removed the original t-bar which reduces the total weight by a few pounds, I have a total of 49 pounds mounted on these stands and everything is still quite stable and secure.

In short, I am VERY pleased with these stand extensions. Not only would I purchase this item again, I highly recommend them and have already ordered another pair.

Great solution for holding 2-4 stage lights for a small gig without having to buy another stand. Sits right on top of your speaker stand. Adjustable to fit your speakers size. Reasonably stable and easy to use. Does NOT come with assembly instructions but photos on box give a pretty good idea of how to put together. A couple pieces of hardware (bracket & small screw) in box that I'm not sure where they go, but stand seems to work fine without them. Velcro cord holders are cheap and broke immediately, so plan on replacing with your own.

This item does what is advertised, I Don't Use The Light Bar, I put a small speaker cab (17lbs) on the top for a Bi-Amped System... But I noticed that it had a Tilt from the speaker stand up...If you tighten the wing-bolt to try to correct the tilt, you could severely damage an aluminum speaker stand. When I use these in the future, I will use an older, all steel, speaker stand.

This uniit is great if you lack space or time for light stands. Goes up in minutes, strong, but a bit wobbly, so you have to be careful when plugging all the lights in. Great idea for small clubs where space is a premium.

I wish I had thought of these Stagg T-bar extensions.
They fit right in with your existing PA when an elaborate lighting system is not necessary.
Most club musicians use either speaker tripods or the poles between the subs and above speakers.
These work with both and are a welcome piece of imaginative hardware.

Comments about Stagg T-Bar Lighting Extension For Speaker Stand:

In small bars and restaurants, there is often not the room to place 2 more tripod stands next to speaker stands so this is a good idea.
I do not use the folding T bar piece - I kept my pars attached to the aluminum bars I have already. This is because there is no advantage to using the folding bar supplied due to the fact that in order to make most PAR lights fit over the speakers, you have to attach them to the top of the bar. This means that when the bar folds, it folds the wrong way - it should fold with the lights on the outside. This would have been a nice touch and would have made the system easier to transport ....Once I realized there was no way to make the folding T bars work for me, I figured I'd leave mine on my lightweight aluminum bar and continue to transport them as I do now - to keep things lightweight as the supplied bar is steel.
The T bar support on my bar isn't as long as the supplied folding bar piece so it doesn't slot in as far but it seems to be enough and works quite well.
The support bracket idea does work and feels quite solid. I have tried it out and find it is easier to place the lower piece of the support bar to the speaker stand, then place the speaker in place, then attach the T bar to the upper piece of the support bar and then slot the 2 support pieces together. It helps to have 2 people but it is very quick to do.
The support brackets are a bit awkward to transport and could be better engineered perhaps- maybe designed to fold down somehow.
So in conclusion, it is a good option when space does not allow 2 stands per stage side . I use my stands whenever I can and use these on rare occasions when space is a premium. I turn the T pieces on the aluminum bars to get the lights on top and turn them back when I use the stands as the lights hang better that way.

                    3.0

It's a good idea but could be improved in design.

The overall idea of mounting lights on top of the speakers was what attracted me to purchase this.
However, the mounting bar for lights are rectangular in shape so can't use normal lighting clamps and must use bolt and nut to secure the lights. And the bar itself is quite flimsy and wiggle.
