This is a great littel Tremolo pedal. Sounds decent, is quite versatile, easy to use, and the buffer is very good also. Boss has fixed the volume drop the older units had, and now has a trim pot on the circuit board that will allow the volume to be set to whatever volume desired. I prefer my Tremolo volume a little over unity so I adjusted mine. The features, sound, and price, make this an excellent value. Don't let the low price deter you because this little Trem pedal can hold it's own even against many higher priced units.

Overall, I think this is a good (not to be confused with 'great') pedal. As nearly everyone points out, it is capable of producing some good quality, conventional, tremolo sounds. And it looks cool. I?m afraid that?s where the fun ends for me, though. First of all, there?s a slight (but annoying) volume drop when the effect is engaged. It?s nothing major but there?s no volume/level knob to compensate. Also, the tr-2 is not true bypass. It?s buffered (like most Boss pedals) ? which is fine if you?re running 50 ft. guitar cables on a massive stage. Not if you?re not. The biggest problem for me though, is the price. It?s a bit expensive ? especially considering the fact that these things are massed produced in Taiwan. Plus, mine died after about 1 year of occasional, gentle use. Fortunately, there are plenty of other, better options out there for my money.

Comments about Boss TR-2 Tremolo Pedal:

Currently performing in stage band for the musical, "Happy Days." Score calls for tremolo in several places, and it really adds to the fifties-era sound we're going for. And NO power drain, as reported in some other reviews. The TR-2 is one of the best of the 6 Boss pedals I've purchased.

This pedal will be a key component of all you tones
2 Words.....buy it.
This is my favorite pedal.
I have owned it about 1 month now and it is awesome.
It stays on all the time.
Set this pedal to 10:00 on the depth at a fairly slow speed and leave it on all the time.

I gives a 3rd dimension to your tone.
Warning: There is no turning back after you use this pedal.

Comments about Boss TR-2 Tremolo Pedal:

This is a simple pedal. It provides a very controllable tremolo (which I always called vibrato) that can be continuously dialed from a soft sine wave to a hard square wave. This gives you the versatility to play everything from old rock-n-roll to recent heavy metal.

Boss TR-2 Compares to my amp tremolo, more versatile

By BFD

Comments about Boss TR-2 Tremolo Pedal:

In the final analysis, it beats my Peavey Delta Blues tremolo, which I think has a better vintage vibe than Deluxe Reverbs I've A/B'd. Both had volume drop, 2007+ TR-2s don't. Previously had a Danelectro Cool Cat Trem, which was good, but true bypass on/off had a very audible click. It also introduced a noticeable treble & volume boost. None of those issues w/the Boss. There a many boutique trems out there, w/more features & tweakability. The TR-2 covers all of the ground I'm looking for.
I'm mostly a vintage style trem guy, occasionally like a harder chop. This'll do it. Won't do the hardest of helicopter chops but that's OK. Covers the spectrum of useable (for me) speeds. NO volume drop (unlike my amp) and tonally transparent.
Standard Boss quality, which most folks agree, is long on durability.

Comments about Boss TR-2 Tremolo Pedal:

fits on my pedal board
This pedal is to give me that tremolo/vibrato effect that is lacking from my Music Man amp.
Easy to use. Simple knobs and settings. I'm a plug in and go guitar player.
built to last, easy to use
on sale for $99, you can spend alot more or less, the cheap pedals are not FULL sounding as TR2
the expensive ones are not practical on a simple pedal board

Comments about Boss TR-2 Tremolo Pedal:

Great sound out of a little box that expect from a Boss pedal. The rate knob gives you a wide range of tempos to choose from. The pedal sounds professional. There is no noise and no perceived signal loss when engaging it. It's a Boss pedal so it's solid and the size makes it easy to fit on your board. There are other tremolo pedal options out there but for a basic tremolo pedal it delivers a lot for the relatively low cost. Lot more expensive options, but I still prefer this to all I've tried.

Comments about Boss TR-2 Tremolo Pedal:

This is the classic tremolo/vibrato effect guitarists have used for decades. Like other Boss pedals, it's quiet and easy to use. Subtle settings can give you a vibrato sound like the one in a Fender amp. The Boss website and Youtube have demos with other settings.

Comments about Boss TR-2 Tremolo Pedal:

This is a solid pedal and a great way to add tremolo to your amp if it does not already have it. The sound is solid and strong and does not wash out like my Marshall pedal does when chained in a pedal board. The adjustment range is fine and it does not seem to tone suck at all. Great value IMHO. Surf, 60's rock, go for it!
Only had it a few days.
Cheaper than buying a Vibrolux or the like.

Comments about Boss TR-2 Tremolo Pedal:

If I had endless money; would buy a nice Tremolo. But I'm poor, so I got this. Its the best for the right price. But the tone suck, is really annoying. I have a EQ pedal after this pedal in the chain, and click it on when I have the tremolo on. It will suck your sound right out. But if you use a couple tricks to correct it. ITs cool.
Tone suck. Use a volume pedal or EQ with this, or lose your tone.
It does not always engage when press. Its is my only pedal on my board that I have to double check to see if its on when I press it.
Look hard for a cheap one; because the new price is too much.

Comments about Boss TR-2 Tremolo Pedal:

Its built like a tank and has a solid sound. It doesn't do crazy throb or choppy tremelo because it is not meant for that. its more of an optical trem than percussive. The internal volume trimpot on the newer ones fix all the old volume drop problems . Yes its not true bypass but research what true bypass is and what buffer does. If you run several pedals like myslef you want a buffer on your board for sure. For what it is and the price range its a no brainer.
