The echo mode of this thing is priceless. I've compared it to expensive analog delays..mxr carbon copy, EH DMM, etc, and I like the sound of this pedal much more. Less noise than the EH, the MXR repeats are way too dark to be heard over a band unless it's cranked. You have a ton of delay time with the 3 modes, and the repeats have enough darkness and dirt to add a beautiful 3 dimensional quality to the tone. I never use the digital mode. The only thing that could make it better would be modulation. Now the catch...sometimes it just stops working, and the switch is garbage, as is the case with all the tone lock pedals. You have to hit it on the sweet spot for it to not turn off after being momentarily turned on. I'm pretty good with it now, but it can be a real pain at a gig.As for it not working, this happens every once in awhile where the LED is on..but their isn't any delay. A little finicky. Anyway, I still recommend it whole heartedly. That being said, I actually have 2 of these because I love the sound that much.

I've had this pedal since I was 18. I just turned 26 and it still works as well as it did then. Except, for the last 8 years, it hasn't came on everytime I've stepped on it. Located on the inside where the battery goes is a little black piece of plastic about a half centimeter long and the size of a tooth-pick (that you can't feel even when you're pressing it with your finger) that is the switch itself. A little dust builds up and (or for whatever reason) from time to time, it just doesn't register on and off like it should have. As a matter of fact, I've owned four Tone Lok pedals and they've all done the same. And they cause a noticeable hiss/hum. From pedal to guitars I've been told that Ibanez pretty much sucks in the wiring department. Maybe it was just the ones I bought. Either way, the effects are fine but the pedals themselves are not very durable.. at all.Value? Me...? Pshhh, I'm going with the M169 Carbon Copy.

Useless with the battery.

By Jim-cskCW

from Phila.

It wears out the most powerful 9Volt battery in less than 30 minutes. When using the AC adapter, the adapter often falls out of the effects pedal causing the guitar to go off.

The best

Ask me a question

Great sounding pedal. The delay/echo switch gives you pristine or grunge. Plenty of delay time with switchable range. You can get infinte repeats in echo mode.I've tried and owned many delay pedals and so far this is my favorite. You can spend more money to get more features, but you won't top the sound of this unit.

Great cheap delay with a few twists

By tay0-.uzlw

from Atlanta

I've been using this pedal for years, on guitars and keyboards. I use it in a powered pedalboard now, but if you run it on a 9-volt, it does some amazing things when the battery is almost dead. A great meat and potatoes delay with a few tricks up its sleeve (hint: crank the repeat setting up while in "echo" mode and you get some great tape-style degradation).

Bar none the best

I don't mean to be overly hyperbolic but I think this delay pedal is the best out there-bar none. Growing up I was a freak for Television and the Edge's guitar tones. starting out as a player that was the sound I wanted. As you can imagine, that means I have tried a lot of different Delay pedals and this one is the best, the biggest range of sounds of equal quality, easy to use, versatile and best of all super affordable. Forget the rest and get this one. I know, I know- guitar players are, at heart, snobs and are afraid of the lower price points- in this case don't be afraid- this is the one.

great pedal!!!

I own and use this pedal very often. I have it set up in the FX loop of my head so that it can be controlled with one main switch instead of a ton of stomp boxes to clutter the stage. It also is more of an accent than a stand out effect this way. I have used other delays and processors, but this pedal is the only one I need. if it were to stop working, I would replace it asap.

The Perfect Pedal For The Perfect Price

By Anonymous

from Undisclosed

I own this pedal and I must say, for the price, you can't beat it. If you were to put it up against higher end delay pedals, you wouldn't be able to tell a difference. Super easy to use and sounds phenomenal. This is a must have for any guitar players.

Great Echo/Delay!

By GimlourIsGod

from Thunder Bay, ON

I bought this pedal a little while back. It's great for everything you could want! I use it dfor a lot of Floyd-y prog stuff. It's great for those beautiful slap-backs, looping a lick, and even just as an EQ! It adds great tone to whatever you play, so I use it to enhance often.Best echo/delay pedal I've seen so far. Being able to so easily manipulate the settings adds a dimension of playability that is just outstanding. A must have.Great job, Ibanez!

Just what I hoped for.

I was looking for something to do the old 50's and 60's movies analog sci-fi effects. Exactly does it! Also in the 70's we used tape echos and turned up the repeat control to get "runaway"loops and then change the echo time to change the "runaway pitch". BINGO! Tommy Bolin used to do this. Does not runaway on "delay", it runs away on "tape" and has a warm analog sound. This pedal is also built better and is heavier than I expected. I love it! It is in the loop of my tube amp so I can have the pedal on a mike stand and turn the knobs as I make the "effects" and turn it off with the amp loop switch.

I just needed a simple short delay/echo. I like to use it so you don't really notice it unless its gone. It will also do country and rockabilly very nicely. Very good for the price. just what I needed for a nice price.

Decent For The Price

I got this pedal a couple days ago, and it does what it's supposed to do, the metal seems like a cheap cast, but it holds up great (Knowing that you probably won't heel stomp it anyways). Overall it's a good delay pedal.

its alright....

i favor Boss and Digitech delays over this pedal. Its weird, i cant really explain it but the sound isn't what i like in a delay. It took me a minute to get a good setting and this pedal does alright, but i would rather have a digitech delay or maybe a boss. This pedal will do you alright if you need a delay pedal for a short term period, but i dont think it will stay for the ride on my board.

Kickin' Little Pedal

By Anonymous

from Undisclosed

I picked this up a few years back. It sat in one of my gear bags for two years before I wised up and dug it out for a test drive. WOW! It instantly became a part of my board with both of my bands. With my country/honky-tonk/billy band it produces an INCREDIBLE slapback effect, bringing back those classic 50's sounds. With my experimental rock band the delay proved to provide psychedelic and creative sounds. The adjustments easily let you dial in specific rates and depths. The overall quality of this is fantastic. Nice sturdy metal casing. One recommendation is to get the power adapter made by Ibanez. This thing will suck the life out of a battery!

not the best

I had this pedal for a couple of years now and the effects are GREAT! But there is one problum. It does not work well with batteries. The pedal eats up the batteries in like 5 min. To have this pedal to work you would need an Ibanez 9v ac109 adapter.

A nice pedal for the price

By thinspirits77

from Buffalo, NY

I've had this pedal for probably around 7 years now. It still works perfectly, although I haven't used it heavily on stage, I use it mostly for recording. The pedal is easy to use and for the price actually has a very nice sound to it and functions well. Over the last year or two I have started working in experimental/noise music and have found this pedal to be really helpful. The long delays sound incredible and hold up well, and the long echoes decay in a way that for what I use it for sounds incredible. Also you can crank the knobs and adjust the delay time for some crazy sound effects. Overall I'd recommend it as a cheap, decently constructed delay. But make no mistake, it's not the best Delay/Echo out there.

Amazing Echo Pedal

By Anonymous

from Undisclosed

I've been using the Ibanez DE7 pedal for over a year now, and it produces an amazing range of echo effects for electric guitar. With a few turns of the knobs you can get anything from a slight reverberation that I use for blues and surf styles, to insane, psychedelic sounds that can't be described. There's just no comparison between this and the sound you get with a multi-effects pedal. I have also used this pedal with keyboards, and would recommend it to keyboardists. The pedal itself is sturdy, and the knobs can be pressed in to "lock" your settings in. It does wear out batteries quickly, as other reviewers have said - but don't let that turn you away from this amazing pedal.

Excellent Delay

By Tom-woqxD

from Los Angeles

You can play Pink Floyd's the Wall with this...every tune on that album that uses delay, especially Another Brick in the Wall Part 1 and Run Like Hell. You can get them exact. You can play Brighton Rock by Brian May, also exact. get two of these and you can play the Live Killers version. You can do Streets With No Name by U2, Heaven and Hell by Black Sabbath, and Gypsy's Kiss by Deep Purple. Forget analog, because as far as delay goes, this digital unit can do both, and for much less money that any comparable pedal.

Great bang for your buck

By ExMX10

from New Orleans, LA

I've been through two of these pedals (the first one blew when I wasn't paying attention and plugged the wrong AC adapter into it, the second was a victim of Hurricane Katrina) and I'm about to go on number three. For the price, this is a teriffic pedal. I found myself using the Echo setting almost exclusively, though there are plenty of options to play around with to tweak your sound. If you're looking for a quality delay pedal at a reasonable price, this is it.

Great Delay!

By Anonymous

from Undisclosed

Pros:*Solid, sturdy metal case*Knobs can be pushed down flush with the surface of the pedal once you find settings you like*Delay/Echo switch works well and provides good versatility*Can create it's own feedback loop by switch on "echo" and turning the "repeat" knob all the way up. Not super useful but fun to play with!Cons:If all you are looking for is a reasonably priced, good sounding delay unit, I cannot think of any cons. Overall, this is a great product and I do not hesitate to recommend it to anyone who is looking for a good, solid delay pedal.

Glad to see it is still being sold!

By blueroserocket

from panhandle of OK

Hi, never put a review in before. but many a time I have told my son (my bass player) I wonder if they still make this unit cause it is great. Had for over 2 years. Been giging and using it everyday for rehersals. We play all over the country opened for Quiet Riot this summer so things get banged around alot. The buttons recess. Great idea. I cannot tell you how many times we get to these gigs and I realise my effects dials have changed, never with this unit. I have been playing since when a tape echoplex was state of the art and a phase was a leslie. So simply, it sounds great can take a continuous beating.
