The next-generation desktop recording solution for guitar has arrived!

The first desktop POD featuring revolutionary HD modeling
POD HD represents a giant leap forward for amp modeling. It is the only desktop multi-effect to boast 16 state-of-the-art Line 6 HD amp models, 100+ modern and vintage-styled M-class effects, and a collection of essential digital and analog ins and outs. POD HD is the most up to date version of the original, time-tested lineage of Line 6 desktop direct-recording devices.

HD amp modeling: sound and feel like never before
HD amp models defy the accepted standard. They allow you to record with previously unachievable realism. Creating these new HD amp models was no small feat. Line 6 mixed 15 years of amp modeling experience with 2 years of new research and development to build an entirely new amp modeling technology from the ground up. During that time, they hunted down 16 incredible amplifiers and ” with the help of some of LA's top tube amp experts ” restored each one back to peak condition. The new modeling technology uses 10 times more amplifier information than before, including single-ended class A tube stages, class AB push/pull interactions, power supply behavior, and more. The result is exceptional warmth, feel, sustain, and articulation for your recordings.

Tube amp fanatics have long enthused that their favorite stacks and combos aren't merely "amps" but instruments themselves, with playability equal to that of the guitar plugged into them. New HD modeling takes the POD HD experience to that same exalted level, capturing the genuine playability that great guitarists demand “ with nothing to mic up or isolate. POD HD includes 16 HD amp models based on*:
¢ Fender Twin Reverb
¢ Hiwatt Custom 100 (DR103)
¢ Supro S6616
¢ Gibson EH-185
¢ Fender Bassman
¢ Fender Blackface Deluxe Reverb

Firmware update v1.3 includes six HD amp models based on* channels from three classic American combos (the œVibrato channel of a Fender Deluxe Reverb, the œVibrato channel of a Fender Twin Reverb and the œBright channel of a Fender Bassman), two British half stacks (the œNormal channel of a Park 75 and the œNormal channel of a Marshall JTM-45 MkII) and a high-gain Line 6 original.

Blackface ˜Lux VIB
The œVibrato channel rounds out the HD model based on* the classic combo that™s considered by many to be the ultimate studio amp: Fender Deluxe Reverb.

Blackface Double VIB
Fender Twin Reverb is an all-time classic of biting twang and shimmering clean tones. This model is based on* a Fender Twin Reverb œVibrato channel, which is a separate preamp circuit with clipping characteristics that are different than the œNormal channel due to an additional 12AX7 tube stage.

Tweed B-Man BRT
Based on* a Fender Bassman, the amp that started it all “ instant rock and roll tone. This model is based on the amp™s œBright channel, which provides a different voicing from the œNormal channel by utilizing the second half of the first preamp tube. (The œNormal channel uses the first half only). High frequencies are increased due to the addition of a bright cap across the volume knob.

Brit J-45 NRM
This model is based on* a Marshall JTM-45 MkII, which marked the beginning of the distinctively bright and crunchy sound that Marshall amps are known for. The œNormal channel is adept at big, bold clean tones.

Brit P-75 NRM
Based on* the œNormal channel of a Park 75, a Jim Marshall-designed amp that enjoys cult status for its powerful Plexi-style tones. The œNormal channel delivers a slightly darker tone than the œBright channel, a model of which already appears in POD HD.

Great tool!

Comments about Line 6 POD HD Desktop Guitar Multi-Effects Processor:

Awesome tool. Great (and realistic) tones. Easy to use for the depth of features it offers. Solidly built. The best gear purchase I've made this year (so far).
I have a good collection of tube amps, including boutiques such as Germino and Reeves, as well as a Ceriatone Matchless Lightning-style amp, Peavey Delta Blues, Fender Blues Jr. (American), etc. Unfortunately, I don't usually have time to crank them during daylight hours and I don't gig lately either. So at most I get to crank up an amp for maybe 15 minutes every other day if I'm lucky. I picked up this Pod HD so I could practice late at night without waking the house and also to record during those late hours. I've usually had an aversion to digital gear, preferring to turn analog-style knobs to adjust tone, etc.

The models on the Pod, and there aren't a ton of them, are very good. All amp models are highly tweakable, either from the unit itself or from the free editing software for computer (which is a must because it is so cool and easy to use). I am not a high gain player, so my favorite models are the JTM 45, Fender Bassman, and Fender Twin and Deluxe. These are pretty much the real amps I would gravitate to anyway. The tones are pretty realistic, and respond very well to changes in pick attack and guitar volume (another part of my playing). This is a huge plus as far as I'm concerned. The dynamic nature of these new models is light years ahead of what I remember digitally modeled tones to be. The higher gain tones sound good to me as well, but it's not the tone that I generally use. I do like the Marshall JCM 800 model in particular for higher gain. It sounds VERY much like the amps I remember playing years ago.

The effects are very handy to have. I find myself slapping a bit of reverb on the Fender models, or a bit of delay for lead. The overdrives are good for driving the basic tone a bit harder. Again, much like with a real amp. I did not care for most of the presets, as they are over the top.

I've dialed in a half dozen of my own patches and use these much in the way I would use a real amp and pedals. Having this tool available has been great. It lets me play for a few hours while everyone is asleep. Keep my chops up. I look forward to recording with this soon.
Very solidly built. Metal construction. Feels substantial. I did pick up the case for this and keep it stored that way to protect it. I give it an eight because the push button controls don't feel super high quality, but are reasonable for the price and market.
Lot of bang for the buck here. Could probably go down another $100 to be a 10. But it's a relatively new model and does offer a lot of value for the money as is.

Amazing sounds!!!!

Comments about Line 6 POD HD Desktop Guitar Multi-Effects Processor:

I love the sounds this new HD line brings to the tabe. Very organic sounding effects and amp modeling is real darn close to perfect. One tip would be to use this unit with your computer it is so much easier to create sounds and tweak them on the computer screen then on the units. Which In turn that would be my only dislike is they need some bigger screens on the unit itself. Thanks line 6 for a great product. Make sure to go onto the line 6 website and download line 6 monkey and upgrade the drivers on this unit, plus it has a few more amp models you also download with the upgrade.
So many to list. It is such a great unit in my opinion. Amp stacking, built In interface, easy to use editing features (amazing when using using a computer), works great with windows vista (laptop), and with windows 7 (desktop). The amp modeling has improved so much from other pod models. Way more organic sounding. Compact and light weight which makes the pod the perfect tool for recording on to your computer.
Well built unit. Made of metal and I have actually dropped mine a few times and it still works like a charm. Great interface with no latency issues on recording.
A pretty good price for this unit. I mostly use mine for recording on my laptop which its compact design comes in very handy. If your willing to spend more money you can get the HD500 floor unit which has the same features just with floor pedals to store and switch your effects.

Great sounding effects,small foot print.

Comments about Line 6 POD HD Desktop Guitar Multi-Effects Processor:

The tones out of this thing are phenomenal. It comes with several setlists of quality, versatile patches that can be used right away. Also allows you to really get a lot of different things going when editing patches yourself. You can get anything from a beautiful clean tone, to a massive metal rhythm, scorching leads, and even things that sound very un-guitar-like once you get into the different effects.

There's no doubt that certain pedals are going to have a slightly more organic sound than a POD, let's not kid ourselves about it. But this thing does genuinely offer you some amazing pre-amp sounds at a very cheap price.

The BEST use for this thing is to drive it through the clean channel of a solid tube amp. It picks up all the friendly nuances of this POD and allows for some absolutely beautiful sounds. My ONLY knock on this things is that the LED screen can be easily cracked if you accidentally step on it too hard, which my friend did unfortunately. Nonetheless it's not something I'm going to hold against the product itself. 10/10 would recommend to anyone on a budget.
