I got this for christmas and i noticed nobody had written a review so i decided i had to do it! This pedal is incredible. I really wanted a nice overdrive pedal and i looked all over, and narrowed it down to the ibanez tube screamer, the rat, and this bad larry. I went to guitar center to try them out and i went back and forth between the three pedals, and the Crunchtone came out on top. It has an incredibly versitile sound. Not like one of those pedals that sound basically the same no matter what you do to the trebel or drive. It has three totally different types of sounds that you can switch between, blues, pop, and cruch. You can also tweak those out to ure preference. Another great feature is the noise gate. I love this pedal more than anything, its basically like three quality pedals in one. Dont think of it as a crappy multi effect though, because it is so much better. My only complaint is that it eats batteries like any other pedal. you gotta buy the power supply unlesss you poop out nine volt batteries. Thats all i gotta say, great pedal!

My first impression was it's built like a tank and then I plugged it into my power supply, it sucked up power like a thirsty dog, forget batteries, nobody has that much money. The sound,I found, was make believe and lifeless no matter what the settings where and the amp I plugged into or guitar I used. The truth is this was a real waste of money! I broke my one big rule about gear I bought it sight unseen. Anyone who is a true professional player would be wise to hear this thing before spending a penny on it. Sorry!

POWERFUL, VERSATILE OVERDRIVE

Tired of the old school buzzsaw? Turn it to crunch mode and crank up the drive up all the way played through a half-stack and you get a very powerful, modern distortion with lots of attack. Turn it to pop mode and turn up the treble and you've got a nice jazz vibe. Only downside, is like all Line 6 pedals, it can't be daisy chained without buzz or hum.

One Of The Best

By Beau-awTER

from Richland, WA

After looking at multitudes of effects, I finally found the tone in this pedal. This is much sweeter and versatile than any other. I play my Gibsons through a Rivera Chubster 40 and this effect set at the blues setting boost the sound with a creamy, chruncy sweetness. The one thing I had a problem with is that I had to get a replacement because the battery wouldn't last more thatn three songs. Line 6 authorized my local dealer to replace it and now I'm happier. You need to get the power supply though to gig hardy with this unless you have an unlimited source to 9V batteries as most are aware when using any effect.

WOW Great Drive

I'm totally impressed with this peddal. First of all the construction of it is unbelievable, not only that but the options on it are great. I have used other pedals before that to me the distortion sounded like a cheap radio that wasn't on a station, just pure static. But this thing has a wonderful warm sounding drive that is not to much but just right.

Very Flexible

By Metalhead17

I got this on a whim cus it was on sale, and I must say I'm very impressed. It produces overdrive very close to a tube amp sound even through my 15watt Fender practice amp, and when I put it through my Line6 spider III... I would swear its a Marshall stack! It has very easy to use controls that can make it sound compleatly different with a simple switch. The built in noise gate is nice too. Only thing I dont like is its not quite heavy enough for my personal tastes.

Bluesman Mic

By Anonymous

I'am a blues musician, and I have searched for awile to find a peddal that delivers the drive that this one does. I haved tried others such as tube screamers, blues drivers, etc, but this one really delivers a good warm overdrive for me. The ground switch is also a plus.

Nice Versatile OD Pedal

By Stocks-jdqWX

I have had some experience w/ Line 6 through their podxt but I had never heard their individual pedals. I demo'd it at a music store using the same gear I play (amdlx tele and DRRI) and was very pleased w/ the sound. The pedal has three modes...blues (fendery) , Pop (vox), and crunch (marshall). I found that these werent' gimmicks. I was particularly impressed w/ the Blues and Crunch settings. I found the pedal to be very warm and didn't lose the nuances of my playing. It seems very well built and I trust line 6 to make a solid product. I am a gigging musicians who plays a variety of styles and I honestly feel that my OD search is over.

ok

I tried this out after about half a dozen others. I'm a big fan of line 6 but this one sounds a little dry. I have a custom Steve Morse Ernie Ball running through a fender tube and it still didn't sound very warm. The features make up for it a bit; the gate and different types of distortion added some versatility but overall I'd find something warmer. I'm still looking and I'm trying the jekyll and hyde and boss mega dist today.

Best Distortion pedal

By Anonymous

from Undisclosed

I got this as a gift from my parents, and I love it. I used to us the distortion on my amp, but it gave to much feedback. With this pedal I can turn the level up and the gain up and get minimum feedback. This pedal is good for a lot of distortion, and barely any distortion. Buy this pedal, it's awesome, you won't regret it.

Line 6 does it again!

By Chris Stookey

This pedal is a great overdrive and light-distortion pedal. It allows the user to get a wide variety of overdriven tones, from snappy blues, smooth buttery overdrive, to crunchy, snarly rock bite...it's all here. That said, it doesn't do metal at all. Great for rock, fusion, pop, and blues. Very well built; heavy for a small pedal. Another quality Line 6 product.

well-built but rubbish

By rockmysocks-cl_zx

This pedal has a very solid construction, and I would trust it for gigging. However, sound-wise I don't think this pedal can cut it; the blues, pop and crunch settings all deliver what you'd expect for each of them in terms of the level of distortion, but they just sound terrible: very little depth of tone, and above all, they sound incredibly digital. In my opinion the only thing the pedal does well is it's noise reduction - the noise gate is effective, but it's a distortion pedal, and it doesn't give nice distortion, so this explains the low rating I gave it. The pedal really doesn't allow the tone of the guitar to come through at all, it smothered the sound of my lovely US strat pickups... maybe it sounds better with humbuckers?? I just couldn't get round how digital it sounded, it was as though it wasn't even trying to get a warm tube sound. I didn't keep it long enough to find out, but I've been told by a friend that the battery life isn't too great either.

this is a great pedal. the blues and pop settings sound good, but when you put it to crunch there is a huge boost in bass i have to turn the bass on the peddal almost all the way down. all in all a great pedal from light overdrive to heavier distortion.

Excellent punch

Running a Fender Cyber Deluxe. Tried the Crunchtone to kick up leads. Great boost, nice blues sound, now I use it all the time for rhythm and put Dr. Distorto ahead of it for great clean sustaining leads with minimum feedback. Of course you can add dirt on both pedals, but I like it clean to hear the nuances. Very happy with both products.

Ask me a question

Well what can I say about this thing that hasn't already been said. It's a great pedal. I was looking for a type of overdrive or distortion pedal and was testing all sorts out in the local guitar store. I tested this one out and it was pretty damn sweet. The crunch, blues, and pop sound selector was a nice touch as well as the buzz gate control thing. Sad to say this thing couldn't produce much heavy stuff such as a few AC/DC songs or get into some metal stuff so its not perfect. Besides that this pedal had sounds that would fit close to anything you would want. I do have to say though that this thing is a pretty heavy pedal. It's basically a hunk of steel. Well built and will last. I didn't buy it there at that time cause it just wasn't what I was looking for but in time I will get it. Yes its that good. So check it out atleast if you can.

Crunchy Tone

By Josh-FZBCS

This pedal is probably the handiest distortion I have used. I play through a VOX tube/solid-state hybrid with PRS guitars. My amp has tube pre-amp/solid state power amp channel that is extremely muddy when using its own gain boost. When I kick on the Crunchtone in Blues mode it bites great and clears up the distortion. I use Noise Gate 1 and it keeps the little buzzes away. Overall a great pedal!
